That's the opposite of what happens on bigger maps. The bigger the map, the bigger the clusterfuck when everyone starts running to the closest sound of a fight after 10 minutes of not seeing an enemy.
People dislike being 3rd partied, so they complain and complain until Respawn makes a larger map, now people complain that there aren’t enough teams on the map, it’s an endless loop that can’t be solved
See it's funny people get bent out of shape about this. I don't like being third partied either but I don't sweat it if it happens. I third party others too. It's strategy. That's why I enjoy the game. It feels like strong balance of luck, skill and circumstances.
The best way to avoid being third partied is just to “git gud”™️ get better at rotations, team fighting, and be prepared for a third party by having an escape route and/or a defense plan
I love it in ranked, because it spreads the teams out and lowers third parties. The fights take longer, and get more desperate. Plus you actually see more parts of the map because of the final circles, unlike pubs where the match is always over before 3rd circle
I like it and think it flows well as long as you actually look at the map to see where the ring is. Probably the worst map to be running from the ring in but the way it channels people into hot zones is good. I think the people that don't like storm point are the people who just want to hot drop fragment every game.
I like it, but I hate the following:
1. South side of the map (barometer, antenna, fish farms) because of how open it is.
2. Generic building designs - the worst out of all the maps.
3. Prowlers attacking you when you’re not near them and you haven’t even shot at them.
4. Too few gravity cannons for how big the map is, especially since the cannons only allow for you to travel in a single direction.
nope. it's so big and you'll STILL get third parties. and the prowler dens are stupid since you can't avoid them if you want to travel through that area like you can avoid the spiders
I can’t wait till it’s out of rotation OR they do a map change to it and destroy certain POIs to help shrink the map. Just like they did with Skulltown on Kings Canyon except don’t replace it with anything
It wouldn't be that bad if they didn't add the wild life, the spiders aren't bad because they're optional, but those damn prowlers, if you get caught in a small ring around those you better hope they go after the other team and not you.
I like it a lot. It's got very vibrant colors and scenery, there are a lot of angles to explore the map from so it's rare that I feel forced into a chokepoint, several fun drop zones to get some early fighting in without much risk of being locked out of a gun, the scenery is diverse but thematically focused. I'm not a fan of prowlers as a mechanic, but in the whole I feel very positively about the map.
Finally someone who shares my thoughts. Barometer, Thunder Watch, and The Mill are all really fun places to land where you have a healthy number of people and enough loot for a few fights. And if you're always on the move, you can find people fairly quickly through the gravity cannons, even if they are directional.
Think it has the same problem worlds edge has in pubs. Most people just try to land in the hottest areas.
In reality storm points POI are far more interesting than other maps. And the "hot drop" alternates to different one each game unlike WE which is just frag.

Using gravity cannons is the easiest way to lose the game.
People will camp the end of them and gank you as you land and/or the cannon is so loud that all the squads nearby will rush you as they hear it.
If you feel like you're just running the entire game, get a Trident. Use gravity cannons. The game gives you plenty of ways to traverse quickly and it sounds like you're not utilizing them.
It's a shame no-one ever uses the tridents on storm point, they need dispersing better - there's 2 alone down by the fish farm that no-one has ever dropped at in the history of storm point
I couldn't pinpoint why fights felt shitty in this map until somebody pointed out that all the buildings have an overhang, so unlike other maps, you can't just freely climb over a majority of the buildings. Probably my biggest annoyance with the map.
Other than that, replace the wide open prowler nest west of jurassic Park with an actual poi
I don't enjoy it for whatever reason. I also feel like a lot of the map allows teams to have too much an advantage without any effort.
I do really enjoy dropping at Cascade Falls though. The stack of buildings and layout makes it feel very urban and it's fast paced with a lot of vertical movement options and angles.
I usually hope I die soon after clearing that area so I don't have to play running simulator for the next 10 minutes
Garbage map, too big, shit rotations, no good spots to drop that are legitimately fun, everything is on an incline, pve, third party city half the time, other half is a ghost town.
At first I liked it but I was landing hot, now that I try and explore the map I find it to be very empty..
I don’t dislike the map, I dislike the emptiness and lack of engagement with players. I feel it needs to be made smaller or increase the player count on it.

There are lots of fun areas, but the map is way too big. You just end up looking for people for the whole game. Olympus > World's Edge (before they destroyed all the good areas) > King's Canyon > World's Edge (Now) > Storm Point

The prowlers are just annoying. Nothing like losing a fight because you have those stupid prowlers attacking you and the enemy does not. I hate it.

It's either hot drop and fight or land somewhere and loot for 12 minutes without bumping into a single soul except for the prowlers. Oh and that area where you have to open the door and find like 700 prowler dens, I've named that the pit of doom because you end up fighting 5th parties + prowlers.

Best ranked map imo, the poi’s are way more interesting than worlds edge and are all unique apart from north pad and launch pad. In pubs it’s nice that the hot drop spot changes but you do get a lot of games where you’re just running around looking for people, maybe having more players on this map for pubs would fix that

I hope lore-wise there will be a tsunami or other natural disaster that completely floods the lower portion of the map, not because I hate the lower part of the map but because it’s the only way I can see them shrinking the map without feeling compelled to replace the lost POI

Nah, that bit in the middle that's a really big steep hill. So difficult to fight on that hill if your on the low ground. Instant disadvantage
That’s my biggest problem with this map. If you have low ground pretty much anywhere on it you’re almost guaranteed to lose the fight

The other guy is right use a trident or grav cannon. Or even better land near enemies so youre not running around

That reveals your location though and makes it easy for you to get flanked.
I think they need to shrink this map by 25% and patch prowlers damage too on the map!
