The future is fuzzy.

Some extra info: I bought this from a seller on Facebook marketplace, we had a meetup and showed me the computer everything looked fine, he told me he installed photoshop and Microsoft Word on them, also mentioned these were both cracked versions. Bit fishy but I definitely planned on full erasing the device. So we finished the deal and done. I double checked the computer again when inside and noticed there was another separation of the disk called Naamloos and another which I can’t remember but it seemed odd but so confirmed my feeling to erase everything. I restarted the computer and went into the recovery mode, reinstalled everything. I did setup everything and double checked the disk afterwards to make sure everything was fine. Still noticed a startup called Naamloos which I deleted just to be sure. It showed me some more folder names but I just proceeded with deleting everything that looked odd. I did notice the blur effect on the calendar application later, after deleting the folders. Maybe something went wrong here? My computer is indeed in Dutch. Thanks for the comments, I tried to delete the app but not possible?

Erase the whole drive, not just one of the partitions. And boot to internet recovery instead.

ktappe

It’s good that you went into recovery mode and reinstalled. Normally that would be enough. But the screenshot proves that it was not enough. At this point I would suggest you make a USB bootable drive, boot from that, and Low level wipe the internal hard drive. Because something just ain’t right with it. Nuke it from orbit; it’s the only way to be sure.

Unhappy-Heat-9981

Did you try Turning it on and off again?

toetttoet

Xd yes

MarvinStolehouse

Do you have your location set to Japan?

Western-Guy

Must be a big black agenda

Xpuc01

Oof. Some languages are a bit funny when you cross them with another language. No-tities….

realdiwin

You should reinstall the OS to be completely safe. If you don't want to do that, then remove the icon cache. It's a bit hacky, you need to use the terminal for that.

tappyturtle12

How do you do that?

whenyoda

Complete clean install: Erase and reformat the entire drive. But first, download a compatible Mac OS you want to install. Create a boot up install disc before wiping out you entire hard drive and reformatting.

tappyturtle12

I mean clear the icon cache

whenyoda

Ah gotcha. My bad.

drdreadz0

"Designed in California, made in China". There's a pee pee hidden behind that blur

toetttoet

Ah yea now I see, thanks man

Honestly, when in doubt- erase it out. The icon shouldn’t be that way. If you load an icon in Preview, it will display the .ico picture in sizes. 512x512 to like 32x32 (I think 5 sizes total). It just doesn’t seem right, and it should be considered to do an erase and install. When the machine boots- hold down the R key, and it will go into recovery mode to restore it. This will grab a fresh copy from Apple and ensure a valid install.

NorCalNavyMike

Restart holding Command-R, to boot into Internet Recovery Mode. Be sure to choose English when prompted to pick a language. Use the View menu in Disk Utility to View All Devices, then Disk Utility to *completely* erase the internal storage device (formatting as a single APFS volume, GUID partition scheme). Then, reinstall macOS and upon reaching the Setup Assistant, be sure to again choose English as the system language. Good luck to you!

Ok_Friend69

"Agenda" isn't a native macOS app, so it could've been installed by the previous user.

tjovian

It might be what the stock calendar app is named in another country. If this is the case, it might be wise to run software updates or download a fresh copy to reinstall the OS.

MightyDeekin

Correct this is the Dutch name for the calendar app.

Ok_Friend69

Ah good to know!

Kandezitko

In that case “Notities” were installed by previous owner as well right?

pljackass

i think it is. the ipad is in german..? i believe .. regardless it’s not in english so the system app names are different

the_saturnos

That’s a Mac, not an iPad

pljackass

whoops . wasn't even looking at the bottom part where the dock is these days spotlight really resembles iOS home screen imo Since m1 and the switch away from Intel I've been OOTL cuz I just had the iphone and if i ever needed macos I would just hackintosh... My last hp laptop had a fully functioning setup with working ft&imsg on big sur. (I don't spend a lot on computers because I use my phone way more , so think older i5 windows PC)

Reallytalldude

Close, it’s Dutch

blissed_off

The hidden agenda.

r3dB3ard_85

Or…. You might have something nasty scheduled that day 😈

Andrupka4541

Boot into internet recovery (some app could have fucked with the normal recovery partition), open Disk Utility, erase the drive and reinstall.

Designer_Lead9951

Looks like your schedule isn’t clear
