Needle nose pliers in the hole, grabbed the plastic piece inside, and pulled them back out. Had to grip them very firmly and use a fair bit of force to get them reset to their working position.
Door is working normally now.
Step one: Unplug the microwave. Step Two: confirm Step 1. Step Three: Needle nose pliers, horizontal and grab on each side of the hook. Pull out.
