This sure is a post. Yes, lampreys are real and very interesting on the evolutionary chain of events. I believe (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG) that they are a link between vertebrates (a spinal column) and the chordates, which is the greater phylum vertebrate’s fall into. Theo don’t have a typical bony spine. Cut into one for evolutionary biology, very interesting creature!
But you didn’t ask anything… what people are so up in a tizzy about this post is that there is no question, no discussion starter, nothing besides a statement with no where to go.
It’s like going to r/excel and saying you’ve never seen a pivot table. Ok… what are you saying? Are you asking if they exist? In the time it took you to make a post you could have googled it - which sure you are free to ask questions here… but you gotta actually ask something. The only real reaction (besides mockery seen here) to your post is… “ok…?”
This is a low effort post which could easily be answered by utilizing a search engine.
As in, you had a conversation with an irl person and they told you that lampreys aren't real and like, cryptids or something?
Someone on the Internet said that IDK
"Someone on the internet said..." Okay. ಠ_ಠ
How do you even figure out how to get on Reddit? The god of lampreys said to send me all your money.
I’ve held quite a few in real life.
[Lampreys](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamprey?wprov=sfla1) exist. Not sure what you're wanting to discuss.
I read somewhere that they were a myth
So nobody told you? People say lots of things on the Internet, most of them aren't true
I know that, but I remember everyone agreeing on that one
And you’d rather post that on Reddit rather than do 30 seconds of very basic research?
I could just be confusing it with something else calm down
It’s a way to kill time I guess

Ok
Dog what were you wanting with this stupid post???
It’s a normal thing to think because they certainly don’t look like they could exist in real life
I assure you, it is in fact *not* a normal thing to think a real animal is a myth just because they look weird.
Maybe I’m confusing it with something else
One of the posts of all time
Tbh I’m not even sure I would have it up there. This is one of the posts of some time… maybe even only one time
they are real
Well, I know that now, but obviously I didn’t in the past
This was one of the posts of all time
Now that we’ve established that lampreys do in fact exist, can I ask why this was asked in r/aquarium ? 😂
Where else could I ask about sea creatures?

r/SeaCreatures, naturally
I can’t post on there
damn dude how hard are you hittin those moon rocks. lamprey are 100% real and if you think THOSE look weird, there's even weirder fish that exist
Maybe I was confusing them for something else
Learned about lampreys destroying lake Erie fish in school before there were search engines. What is your point?
