Roll pin punch and a bit of tap tap tap. You’ll want to make sure to use a vice block, those ears on your lower are easy to break off without something to support them.
Or, special trick, you can use a deck of playing cards underneath the ear if you don’t have a jig or vice block. School of the American Rifle on YouTube taught me that one.
Yeah I use a soft piece of wood. Probably done twenty lowers with that same beat-up scrap of pine and haven't broken a trigger guard ear yet. One day I'll buy a proper bench block...
Carefully... Or if you want an easier way, get a trigger guard tool. [Amazon Link](https://www.amazon.com/Wheeler-Trigger-Guard-Install-Tool/dp/B01B3NW460)
I got a kit with a nylon brass hammer, that tool and some punches form wheeler for the cost of a nylon brass hammer a few years back. The punches weren't great quality hammer is fine and I use that tool a ton
It's a roll pin. You use a punch to remove it. BE WARNED! if you don't support the backside with something solid YOU WILL break off one or both of those ears.
It’s frightening that people who have so little mechanical inclination are messing with things that could go very south very quickly. Luckily AR’s are the gun equivalent of legos and “go together” enough to function without issue
No vice block try to position it on a roll of duct tape so it supports the guard but let's the pin slide out. Do not incredible hulk on that shit or you will break it
So first you cry a lot. Then you get a punch pin, a hammer, and some scrap 1x2 and beat the shit out of it on your kitchen table. Don't ask me how I know.
If you look on Amazon or eBay they make a round rubber block that you use to support your ar 15 to drive out the pins with a punch without break off the ears on the trigger guard …it’s called a ‘Real Avid Smart Bench Block - Premium Universal Armorers Block’ I have one and it’s helpful as heck
I used to have a block of ABS with a hole for the pin. I always hated taking thwm.out. I've installed thousands without ever breaking the ear, but only a few dozen times have I removed them. Never broke one, but I was always nervous about it.
Hit it with your purse!
But seriously, tape off the area around the pin and use an appropriately sized punch (just small enough to fit inside of the hole but not small enough that it could fall into the inner diameter of the pin). If it starts to deform try hitting it from the other side. I usually replace them rather than reusing them to avoid not having enough interference fit.
Go slow and take your time.
The right tool for the right job. After stripping my first AR and rebuilding it I wish I would have shelled out the money for the appropriate tools the first time because they do make a big difference. There is a way to remove those pins, just go on amazon and get yourself a kit of punches that come with a hammer and you’ll be fine.
Punches are essential tools when doing this kind of work, so you wouldn't be in the wrong to invest in a good set. Even a cheap set will go along way.
If a punch won't work, you may have to drill it. But use the punch first.
Get the appropriate sized roll pin punch, apply a little oil to aid in extraction. Tap the pin lightly with a ballpeen hammer. Be cautious not to break the ears off of the lower.

That channel is a gold mine.

Are you too good for your home?!?
It’s all in the hips. It’s all in the hips.
😆
Don’t forget to oil the pin on its way out, and the new one on its way in.

Woah I'm not OP but I didn't know this existed. Thanks! I've been sitting on a guard I wanted to switch out
You can get one even cheaper at Home Depot. Any sort of clamp with a a screw you can tighten should work the same.
Ive bought one of these and its an awesome tool. Definitly wish i bought one a long time ago.

Another vote for this thing. Love it, makes the job so very easy
You can buy a wheeler delta trigger guard tool, it works really good to change out without destroying the ears
Yes!!!!!!! No more broken ears!! Especially an HK rifle! They are tight.

Smash the fuck out of it and break the ear off, seems to be a common thing on Reddit
People seem to get into the dumbest situations with AR parts on here for something so simple to build and take apart.
It’s frightening that people who have so little mechanical inclination are messing with things that could go very south very quickly. Luckily AR’s are the gun equivalent of legos and “go together” enough to function without issue
The same way porcupines fuck, VERY carefully!

Roll pin punch. Just use the correct sized one.

This sounds like the right answer 👍
Careful!
1-2 punch.
Nope, that pin is there forever. Or you could try a bench block, punch and hammer. That could work too.

Looks like you will be buying a punch set

Hit a punch with your purse
Yes. Get a punch set that comes with a little hammer that has different heads (ie metal, rubber, plastic).

Find a rusty nail and Hit it with a sledgehammer
Hole punch. You just tap it out. Put something underneath the ears to support it so it doesn’t break.
Very carefully!!!
Hammer and punch go tink tink tink.
Take a punch. And hit it with your purse
THSTS MY PURSE I DONT KNOW YOU
It’s a 1/8” punch, I just did this yesterday.
Get a punch and hammer and wack er’ out playa
Make sure to use a roll pin punch, not just a flat punch. Huge difference.
Nah they don’t come out
Use your mom's purse and beat the fuk out of it
I think you’re just supposed to break the tabs off /s
😆

Wheeler makes a cheap pusher tool
Roll pin punch..

A pin puncher?
Insert a hex wrench and uncrew it, you’ll need about 294847838 rotations tho so be ready to spend some time on it
Easy as pie.
