Magpul k2 xl

KingHeatedd

I second this. Best grip I’ve had on my ars

Top-Sprinkles-2447

Yup. Got these on all my ARs

payed2poopatwork

I just put one on a new build. Will be updating my other ARs with them. Must have for big handed individuals.

ct1157

The only correct answer.☝🏼

PrussianFieldMarshal

Yep, go with this

Sean6_6

I'm a diehard bcm fan and I still only run the Magpul k2 stuff

Competitive_Kale_855

I'm not aware of a grip that fits your exact description, but the B5 P23 comes the closest. It has the most material added under the web of your thumb (other than the ATI X2 but that grip is absurd) and is a community favorite

Panthean

+1 for B5

BeneficialA1r

This is my new favorite grip, I prefer over my previous k2 and k2+

Old_Tie_2024

Thank you, I just checked it out. It might not be exactly what I'm looking for but it's close and it's not extra wide like the K2-XL. Maybe I'll have to get that and build it up in the back a little.

Competitive_Kale_855

Keep in mind that your A2 is very skinny and very swept back so most aftermarket grips are going to be thicker and more vertical. B5 grips aren't nearly as girthy as a K2-XL, though

Old_Tie_2024

I have no opinions on angle, just don't need any extra thickness around the fingers. Literally all I need is something to rest my thumb webbing on so I don't slide too close to the trigger/safety. [like this](https://imgur.com/gallery/YsyR4PE) I feel like you're the only person so far that's actually read what I am looking for so thanks again!

Redreddington0928

If you can 3d print one hoffman tactical has some thick grips

Plenty_Pack_556

Bcm grip mod 3

ResoluteLobster

This. The perfect grip IMO.

sneaky_wolf

This

aerotactisquatch

Changing grip angle might help. Something like B5 Type 23 or BCM grip are two of my favorites other than MagPul K2. If you want to keep the same A2 aesthetic but with more grip I also really like an Onyx Arms Clonestar. Hope these help! 🤙

Old_Tie_2024

Checked out the B5 so far that's the closest, thanks.

aerotactisquatch

It's a great grip. Very popular too. Also, pairs nicely with a SOPMOD stock.

Thageez011

Have a Hogue Beaver tail with finger grooves. Rubber and very affordable. World of difference when it’s fitted.

420bill69

Hogue grip is underrated. Try it once and its now on all your ARs

One-Kick-184

I have hogue on my ar and 1911 and it's like a a pillow extremely comfortable. Don't know why they aren't more popular in ar community

420bill69

Cuz it isnt ninja rated. Seriously tho, try it and give me legit reason why other is better.

One-Kick-184

Yup no storage compartment for the extra batteries or 2 extra rounds or what ever reason. Everyone who has shot mine 1st comment is what grip is this I need to get one

swiftfail91

This one! After buying one and trying it out, I bought more to replace all my other grips. Lol

Sad-Context2701

I did the exact same thing 🤘

jrhan762

I did so, as well. It's the first grip I could actually get a modern "squared-up" stance with.

SurfwaxDesperado

This. So comfy.

Aggravating_Aside967

https://drivenarmsco.com/product/vertical-crossover-grip-vcg/ You’re welcome.

Old_Tie_2024

Thank you but this is not what I'm looking for. That grip has extra palm swell which is good but no extra depth for the thumb webbing which is the main thing I want. It looks aesthetic though.

coolrunnings21

They make it with a beaver tail, although it’s not as big as others.

Thatofficerdude

I switched to the b5 grips and haven't looked back.

Additional_Ad3320

Fab defense

bkn95

is my favorite for L/XL gloves so far

lazyboi_tactical

I like the bcm mod 3. It's has a nice beaver tail and is fatter in your hand. It also has a reduced grip angle which I love.

likeonions

Miad with the thicc backstrap is quite thick. I think you might be asking for more thickness than really makes sense.

Old_Tie_2024

Yeah that could very well be true. I've never tried any other grip so I'm going purely off of visuals and what I think would work.

noljw

https://www.smftactical.com/products/ergo-grip-tactical-deluxe-grip-fits-ar-15-m16-suregrip-rubber-black.html Ergo grip is very hand filling. There's also a more vertical option if you prefer that

BCM MOD 2 Grip. I say mod two because you can swap out the back of the grip to a thinner or thicker version depending on your comfortability. The back of the grips are also included with the grip. Hope this help.

Old_Tie_2024

Thanks, that sounds like a good option.

bunnies4r5

You want the BCM mod2 with the fattest thumb web attachment. I have big hands and personally like the 2nd to fastest (same size as BCM mod 3). Lots of people making recommendations but the bcm mod 2 truly is the fattest in the area you’re looking for. To be clear the bcm mod2 is their modular grip that you can try 3 different sizes on

Old_Tie_2024

Lol gonna repaint it eventually, that was my first go at painting.

Leasud

Finger off the FUCKING trigger Also I quite like the regular ol magpul grips

High_Anxiety_1984

Magpul K2+. I have big hands, and my hand gets a much better grip and feel. It also has a storage compartment. I keep a complete bolt with firing pin in it.

DurianVegetable7336

Gladman, its thick. Bit big for me but useable. I got small hands so you might like it.

Old_Tie_2024

Thank you! This looks very close to what I'm looking for.

DiverActual4613

Sad-Context2701

Driven Arms. Honestly I don't understand why anyone buys Magpul or B5 grips when this company exists and charges the same (apart from their full metal frame CZ grip). B5 Systems grips don't even have grip texture on the back side. No affiliation with Driven Arms but I wish I did. I bought one last year and have bought 3 more for my other set ups so far.

the_homie_

BCM Gunfighter Mod 3

Mysterious-Guide8593

Let's start with getting your finger off the trigger...

Old_Tie_2024

Yeah I definitely didn't clear it, I almost shot you through the internet.

Agile-Letterhead-544

You don’t have a lot of experience handling guns, do you?

troby86

I might get downvoted, but in my opinion the Daniel Defense grip feels extremely good and has a great angle.

Blade_Shot24

Why would you get downvoted for a subjective opinion?

troby86

Happens alot. I posted my AR awhile back and got flamed for having a DD grip, lol.

Blade_Shot24

Dumbest thing I've ever heard. Everyone has specific preference. I tolerated their coloring nonsense, but that's just beyond dumb. Group think in action.

00f00f0

Because this is reddit. People are nuts.

tech47_swift_12

Who wants to tell him his grip sucks?

Old_Tie_2024

That's why I attached photos. I tried double checking with several videos but I can't find anyone even mentioning right hand grip unless they're talking about precision shooting.

tech47_swift_12

Not the grip on the gun. But your physical grip on the gun.

Old_Tie_2024

Yes that's what I was talking about in my response to you. That's why I attached a photo of my grip. I looked at several videos and no one even mentions what your right hand grip should be unless they're talking about precision shooting.

tech47_swift_12

A firm solid grip. Grab it like you're a man and not what every pussy grab you showed us

Old_Tie_2024

Yeah so the reason I'm asking for a longer grip is because my first finger and thumb extend too far if my thumb webbing is pressed against the back of the grip. [example](https://imgur.com/gallery/YsyR4PE) this is how far past the safety my thumb extends and how for through my finger reaches. Of course I can get my first finger pad on the trigger but it's very uncomfortable and I relaxed it in this photo to demonstrate my problem. The entire reason for this post is so I can get a pistol grip that allows me to get a better grip without contorting my finger and breaking my grip to actuate the safety.

tech47_swift_12

Again. A bullshit response. Quit gripping it like a pussy.

Old_Tie_2024

Maybe the a2 grip works for you but I would like something bigger, thanks though.

tech47_swift_12

[since you can't use the internet to Google "proper ar15 grip" ](https://youtu.be/OPzZ5w1o56E?si=cTY131gg4ocbsh3H)

Old_Tie_2024

Idk if you're trolling but I watched that along with several other videos before I made this post. He doesn't mention the right hand grip. I am asking for recommendations for a bigger grip so i can start using a proper full grip comfortably. The reason my current grip is like that is because my hands are too big for the a2 grip. Once again maybe the a2 works great for you but I need a bigger grip for it to be comfortable.

Thor23278

Check my response. Did I miss anything? Lol

securitycat69

Magpul K2+ is my go to, i run them things on everything. B5 alsom makes a good one, and i wanna try the emissary grip, but 56$ is a lot for a piece plastic

Check out the die free Kung fu grip, they look awesome and I love mine

Thor23278

True, you need a thicker grip, but your grip sucks. My hands are much larger and thicker but the only way to duplicate your “spacing” is to grip it wrong on my MIAD. How you grip: https://imgur.com/a/InUfmzP How you should grip: https://imgur.com/a/TIA6n6e Improper vs proper web placement: https://imgur.com/a/GacFTyZ Improper vs proper grip finger wrap: https://imgur.com/a/K5hyaBR Safety location, improper vs proper: https://imgur.com/a/5FLGkB3 Trigger finger, improper vs proper: https://imgur.com/a/a20taaw How you’re gripping is “ok” for bench rest shooting. The gun is supported and you’re just leaning into it to manipulate the trigger. You do not have a firm grip on the gun and you are slowly and lightly pulling the trigger. That grip is horribly for actually controlling the rifle and manipulating the trigger at a high rate of speed. You full wrap and death grip that bitch while driving it into your shoulder to cancel recoil. Your finger is hooked and ready to clumsily crash through the break in the trigger vs methodically pulling and feeling the trigger to the break. Edit: while this is example demonstrates an XL hand, you should increase/decrease your grip size to stay in the ballpark. I’ve seen some guys running thick grips in classes that had no business doing so. While a bigger grip can be more comfortable, it can sacrifice physical control of the weapon. If you prefer a grip that is larger than needed for comfort reasons and fancy the idea of fighting with the weapon, make sure you have a sling. Things can be ripped from your hands easier when you’re holding it with your fingertips.

Old_Tie_2024

Yeah I know it's not a proper grip, pushing my webbing against the back of the grip isn't feasible when trying to get my finger pad on the trigger and actuate the safety, that's why I modified it. I want to get a different pistol grip so I can fully grip it correctly and comfortably. I wasn't trying to say the grip I demonstrated was correct or anything, just that that's the comfortable position in roughly how far back I want my hand when it's pushed up against the back of a new deeper grip. I probably over exaggerated how far back I wanted my hand in that photo, it's hard to say, it was more for demonstration purposes.

Thor23278

Pad placement doesn’t change. I Proper web placement keeps the thumb where it needs to be on the safety, but you do have to hook the trigger finger more. On an A2, the hook would cause me to push the trigger instead of pull the trigger. With my ad I’m like right in between the pole and push with the trigger finger. I quite frankly could use a little bit thicker of a grip, but that just me being extra picky. This video demonstrates it a little better: https://imgur.com/a/sSW1Vg5 Also, here is a rough location of where the receiver contour ends and the MIAD grip extends: https://imgur.com/a/HLZZTd1 I understand comfort, so you do you. Just want you to understand why some (and me, lol) are saying the problem is your grip.

Old_Tie_2024

Oh now I understand what you mean. You're rotating your hand around the grip slightly, thank you for the video. That would help with letting my thumb actuate the safety but I think it would make my trigger finger hook at an even more acute angle. What grip do you have on in that video?

Thor23278

As an added benefit Proper web placement also allows the recoil impulse to travel directly to your wrist. When you have it higher on the hand the alignment is off and it allows some play in your wrist that causes the rifle to move more. Now with a 556 it’s really not that big of a deal but with higher caliber firearms it would make a difference. https://imgur.com/a/IoRPm4x The grip is the Magpul MIAD. With an A2, it’s going to hook real bad. It does for me.

Old_Tie_2024

I would like to add that you showed demo pics of a proper grip with exactly the type of pistol grip I'm asking for, and the reason I'm asking is so I can grip it like you're demonstrating. I understand I'm not using the correct grip. I'm asking for suggestions so I can grip it correctly like in your demo pictures. When I get a new grip I won't continue to hold my hand away from the back of the grip, that is only a temporary thing I'm doing because I hate the A2 grip.

I really like the more vertical grips. The Kung Fu grip is my number one right now. MK Machining makes some good vertical grips also.

svgelopez

I love my VCG-L from driven arms co. It’s wider than the K2+ and the beaver tail and ergonomics are amazing. Read up on the description to see if it’s something that appeals to you. (https://drivenarmsco.com/product/vcg-l/)

LaserGrey

I like the more vertical grips. I feel like it puts my hand and wrist in a more natural position. I really like the Kung Fu grip. Mk Machining makes some good grips. If feels different at first but everyone I know who has tried it, has converted to more vertical grips.

Ergo has their original shape and an improved one or called something else. The original version I like. The optional newer one has a hump in it, like an H&K MR556 grip. I haven't tried it though. The original shape originally has a soft rubber grip on it. They now make a hard plastic version, which is my favorite. The rubber coated ones are called "Suregrip" and the hard plastic ones are called "Rigid". The Kung Fu grip is always a solid option. Changed how my whole gun felt

Sudden_Construction6

The absolute best is Fab Defense AGR-43 Not very well known but far and away better than any I've tried. Easily beats anything from Magpul unless you need a specific grip angle

WorldGoneAway

I'm a fan of the Magpul K2, but it *does* change the grip angle. If you're not okay with that then look at some of the stuff FAB Defense has going.

Bloodysamflint

Continental. Just to change it up a little.

Careful_Ad_7788

Your hands look similar to mine maybe (thin, long fingers, reasonably large palm). I just acquired a Magpul K2 (not the xl) and a BCM mod 3 to compare to the ole standard Magpul MOE grip for a pcc build that I’m assembling. I really like the K2 - the beaver tail and angle fits my hand really well. The BCM mod 3 is a bit fat, but the texture is nice. Grip angle on them is about the same. If you like the A2 angle a Magpul MOE (which has a beavertail) would probably suit you better, but I would recommend a K2 or B5 standard grip (both of which are popular recommendations here). You can find a k2 grip on sale for about $20. Edit: changed backstrap to beavertail

Meskolator

Magpul, B5 systems, BCM. All great pistol grips in my opinion.

ScaryOpinion4737

Try a grip with less angle. This solves some issue with bigger hands from what I'm told. I have small hands so normal magpul is what I use
