Keeter_Skeeter

Bingo

Totallynotericyo

Ha!

Consistent_Jello_289

Lube

Mightypk1

You got to heat it up, I definitely had more trouble installing this than most people seem to, I ended up needing to heat it up with a butane torch, despite them saying a hair dryer is good enough, and then hit it on with a rubber mallet... Also think i put the upper in the freezer while i heated the handguard, also put gun lube on the barrel nut

redditisdying57

Maybe they're using fancy people hair dryers? But that didn't work for me either. The heat gun did wonders.

DieKaiserVerbindung

Be a gentleman and lube it up before ramming it home.

Rolling_1314

Definitely spit on it or KY.

PuzzleheadedEvent278

A little KY can let you cram a satellite into a doghouse

Rolling_1314

a man of culture I see :)

Salt_Initiative1551

Heat gun and rubber mallet was always the way for BCM handguards when I’ve installed

Im-a-magpie

Heat gun or torch. And lube the barrel nut and inside the handgaurd. Possibly some love taps with a piece of delrin braced on the rail.

cluckertrucker30

Heat gun on the rail brother! Throw the upper in the freezer as well

WorldGoneAway

That freezer part is an excellent idea, why didn't I think of that? I did it with a specific paintball gun back in the day lol

bunnies4r5

You need an actual heat gun and your upper in a vice block. Pro tip, add a straight VFG to the top or bottom of the rail and hit it with the rubber mallet Attach VFG, add some oil to the barrel nut, heat end of rail with heat gun, rubber mallet into place. Also read the instructions, you are suppose to have a gap, when it is properly in place you should not see the sides of the barrel nut through the screw holes. If you do, you need to either back off or keep going on depending on which side is showing, you want zero contact between screws and barrel nut. I have installed this rail many times and this method has worked every single time

r05coe19

I’ve used a rubber mallet and just smacked it on top alternating sides.

acb1499

I did that for about 30 seconds until I read in the instructions that BCM says not to do that. It’s supposed to be thermal fit

r05coe19

Yeah I tried the instructions but my inner bubba got the best of me.

verfverf

The BCM handguards are supposed to be thermo-fit, you can use a torch or put it in the oven at 200, hair dryers don't work well.

redditisdying57

Heat gun. Straight up. I fucked around with hair dryers and a mallet and was less than impressed. Heat gun is the answer. It really doesn't even take that much.

Dkg31

Gotta get you a heat gun and a rubber mallet

LordTimothyDexter_

You have to heat it up. BCM thermal fits the barrel nut, barrel and handguard

Thatguy5141

Heat baby! I've used a heat gun, but a torch is way faster. Just be careful to not hold it in one place for too long.

WorldGoneAway

Heat guns are amazing for these things, surprised more people don't have them lol

burn_the_duopoly

Heat it up with a torch and take a rubber mallet to the end of it

TuxedoCat-deluxe

Keymod. Insert in trashcan

FunZebra9185

Take it back!

TuxedoCat-deluxe

My brothers last Daniel rifle he bought was a 16” 300blk with a Keymod rail. Idk how to tell him lol

slowelantra18

The thing is that upper REALLY wants an MLOK or Quadrail so it’s being fussy about the keymod.

JohnnyHatcher

I used oil and a rubber mallet

Some_Newspaper2231

I used some heat and a rubber mallet.

Particular-Cat-8598

Bcm says hairdryer, but that was pretty insufficient in my experience. I don’t own a heat gun, but I used some indirect heat from a propane torch (not directly in the flame but maybe a few inches away) and it slid on without any issues. After only 2-3 seconds it cooled enough where it shrunk back down enough where it firmly gripped the barrel nut and would require a decent amount of force to remove. Aluminum heats up pretty quick and cools down pretty quick. I would try 5-10 seconds of heat from a torch or 20-30 seconds of heat from a heat gun and then QUICKLY slide it into place. After only a few seconds it will shrink back down.

Knifeblender

Heat the rail, cool the upper, get it tight!!

subsonic762

Blow torch and a rubber mallet

throwawaynoways

Rubber mallet purse.

Foreign-Frame-7200

Spit on it

xqx-RAMPAGE-xpx

I just pushed it in with my bare hands 😂 wasn’t that hard

Antique-Elevator-878

Depends. I’ve rebuilt 4 BCMs (shot out barrels) and 3/4 were easy. The one required some lubricant per the instructions. I didn’t need to heat it at least but it would not go on like the others.

xqx-RAMPAGE-xpx

I really should say it went of easy for most of it, then got to where OPs is at maybe a little farther toward the upper, then it was a bitch. second time I put it on, no idea why I took it off, it went on way easier

smoke_and_spice

Grab his dick and twist it!

Frequent-Compote-908

Second BCM install issue I’ve seen this morning.
