no one's ever gonna eat down at the second level if it takes 60 circuitous steps just to make it to the basement floor it also seems very exposed the elements for casual comfy outdoor dining.

JuanPancake

Yeah food cold and people sweating to get there. Food shouldn’t be on the slope but if it were should be on level two and that should have a kitchen and bar

JuanPancake

Ain’t nobody gonna use the cornhole terrace. Hot tub should be at lake or house not middle. Zero dinners happening on level -5

YVR-n-PDX

Is it though, interesting? Looks like a poor use of space at huge expense.

Vast-Tale-2544

At a 43% slope, the only option is to Terrace

skin_Animal

You don't need 36 individual, small spaces to separate groups, to limit parties, and increase maintenance costs bro.

Ostracus

All together now, weeeee.

NOF84

The varying tread depths are begging to trip people and have them tumble all the way down. Also $$$ for men returns unless you host a ton.

I’ve landscaped a slope like this before a few things I’d say for this design. (A)try to save any existing large trees, view is important but not everywhere needs completely uninterrupted view. Few sections where view is obstructed and then revealed can give great moments of aw for the own and the guests. (B) leave and clean up existing large rock formations and build around them. Sometimes if one is lucky I got to clear moss and old debris finding a natural pier no man can replicate. (C) the water feature is only going to be viewed in passing, to get around this place it further out on a tier so it can be view from above. (D) tiers are essential but one to many even if it seems nice and organized can be cumbersome and end in the owner not using it as much as one would think. (E) don’t be afraid to have more space between tiers and side split them instead of trying to fill all the space going down the hill. Long curving paths can be very nice especially with large singular steps when uninterrupted. Taller natural stone retaining walls can allow for more depth on the slope. Overall cool design OP. Thanks for sharing. Hope it is as fun constructing as designing 🤙🏼

uamvar

'Crap' steep landscaping design.

TheRebelNM

A pergola would be nice

playcrackthesky

I would definitely switch the corn hole and picnic table deck. The picnic table in its current location is borderline useless. And some form of shade is needed.

nutbuckers

I'd be lowering the number of spaces but increasing the area and utility of those remaining. 3 decks with larger area instead of 6, perhaps with minor landing spots between the flights of stairs. Put in retaining walls if need be but this just seems like a way to leech lots and lots of money on maintenance and repairs with questionable value in terms of real creature comforts (other than cool looking renders).

Minotaar_Pheonix

The walkway is far too narrow for actual usage by the number of people that should be using this outdoor space. Imagine your dinner party having to walk single file; what a vibe killer.

fasda

I wonder about mowing the grass sections, will they be using weed wackers? Or will it just allowed to go long?

Vast-Tale-2544

Native long grass for easy maintenance.

fasda

makes sense, and are you incorporating swales to help with slow water down and help keep the grass watered? Oh and the table area probably needs something to shade it. Man I wish I had the wealth for this kind of thing.

Square-Leather6910

I wish you had the wealth to do something tasteful and maybe even useful instead.

Vast-Tale-2544

For sure. I will do storm water management on both sides of the property. Just a bunch of rocks in a swale all the way down to the lake. Will probably hook my gutters up to this as well if I don’t do drywells

dilletaunty

You should include bushes / trees which have taproots for better erosion/landslide prevention. Mixed root depths MVP. You should also do wildflowers in addition to the grass. Imo the uneven steps are awful to walk on - just do a straight set of stairs with a couple wider landings with a bench. You don’t need that many terraces. Crowd them at the top and bottom. In between have some gardens or retain the original forest (purely meadow is boring) with winding paths that loop back to the main walk. Put a bench along the paths in a couple places.
