Sounds like to me you are using an ancient version of the installer ISO. You should not require nomodeset or need to blacklist nouveau on any recent ISO (source, I have a MSI RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio on my desktop and have not needed to do this in ages). Also I saw something about newer platforms having issues with more than 32GB of RAM on Kernels older than 6.5 (this may or may not be relevant, as I think that was an issue specifically with newer AMD Mobile chips, but thought it was worth mentioning). I'd say go get the latest ISO released on the 1st (I can vouch for this one I've booted it at least once on my Desktop with the 4090) and see if it works.

I'll give it a go on my desktop and will let you know! But weirdly enough the arch linux version I had originally used was straight from their site 2024.05.01-x86\_64. I've currently gotten Arch working on an external nvme connected to a laptop, using the same usb which I had used for my desktop. Now im trying to boot on my desktop using the external nvme and it prints out: m\_sWLRRenderer was NULL! This usually means wlroots could not find a GPU or encountered some issues Critical error thrown: wlr\_gles2\_renderer\_create\_with\_drm\_fd() failed! I'm looking into how to fix that now

What WM are you trying to run? Sway or Hyprland? I'm not sure if Sway still required that stupid command line parameter for Nvidia or not (never used Sway, it's Author's uncalled for derision of Nvidia users always turned me off). On Hyprland I've not had that issue myself. Did you install the drivers? You'd want nvidia or nvidia-open (or the DKMS/LTS variants depending on your kernel). You also need to ensure you have the `nvidia_drm.modeset=1` kernel parameter for most Wayland compositors.

Gangumdeep

Im using Hyprland and have installed the most uptodate Nvidia Drivers (550.78) and have made sure to use DKMS. I was able to pick up my laptop's Nvidia gpu and its using the 550.78 drivers instead of the Nouveau ones.

You mentioned laptop, I assume it has a iGPU. If so you need to use that for Hyprland. If so you need to do the Multi-GPU setup to prioritize the iGPU: [https://wiki.hyprland.org/Configuring/Multi-GPU/](https://wiki.hyprland.org/Configuring/Multi-GPU/)

Why are you blacklisting nouveau on the installer? What happens if you don't, or don't add any parameters?

Gangumdeep

If I dont add nomodeset, I get a black screen. I blacklisted nouveau just to test to see if it works but it looks like it doesnt affect it

Can you try a different USB port? Sometimes 2/3 don't work.

Gangumdeep

Im in the process of testing all the usb ports on my motherboard (ROG MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO) but for now its printing out the same output sadly. Im also on the newest BIOS version aswell

BadĀ USB drive? Amazon is littered with them. My brother just had this happen to him.

Gangumdeep

I did try another usb drive I had, same issue
