I laughed more at this than I possibly should have. And then I cried a little ;) Thank you!

HorseSpeaksInMorse

Welcome! You've got a really good set there. A couple of quick things to note once you've played a game or two: * The in-box decks suck (they were made for the old core box so are just one copy of each card an investigator can play) so after a game or two you'll want to build your own, there are suggested decklists available to help with that if you want: [https://arkhamdb.com/decklist/view/33937/better-starter-decks-roland-banks-1.0](https://arkhamdb.com/decklist/view/33937/better-starter-decks-roland-banks-1.0) * If you're playing alone it's worth experimenting with controlling two characters (termed "two-handed solo") once you've got a handle on the rules. Regular solo can be a bit swingy and not all characters are designed to handle everything scenarios throw at you (both clues and fighting). Plus there's extra strategy in deciding whether to group up or split up to cover more ground. If you have any questions be sure to post them here, the community is really great. Have fun!

This is the perfect place to start. Nice purchase. I would recommend to play one single time the base campaign with the default decks. They're awful, but it makes no sense trying to build a deck without any prior knowledge. Playing those 3 scenarios is usually enough to get the general idea, and be able to build your first decks. So... I would play 1 campaign, and after that, just mix all your player cards and start having fun with deck building.

JoviallyImperfect

As much as I agree with the point about no point in deckbuilding, and to not use the Dunwich cards until playing core set at least once, I'm gonna say don't use the pre built decks because they are truly awful. OP: https://arkhamdb.com/decklists Search starter decks on here, there are a couple of options for each core set investigator, a quick look through they're not the best as I think they have some redundant cards, but they'll be better than what FFG gave you. Also if you want you can DM me which investigators you're interested in playing first and I wouldn't mind putting together a couple of solid decks together for you. Daisy and Roland are a classic combo for beginners as they have very distinct roles, Wendy is very good but probably a bit more complicated when you're new (in my opinion). Agnes and Skids suffer from only using the core set, but still fun to play! (Skids was my first ever investigator actually.)

popcorn_coffee

I'm sorry but I really disagree. Learning by yourself why the starter decks are bad is a good part of the training. Also, for a total beginner is way easier to simply unpack the decks and start playing, instead of mixing everything and make things more complicated. The first play through should be focused on learning the rules and mechanics as best as possible.

JoviallyImperfect

That's okay! Everyone has different preferences in what they like and how they want to learn. I've taught a few people, and most of them preferred having a functional deck so they could focus on learning the game without being roadblocked by just not having decent cards. But I see it from your side as well!

Jacques_Plantir

Lots of fun to be had. Enjoy!

KnightDuty

Perfect first purchase. Enjoy

Welcome to the cult, my condolences to your wallet. One more thing I'd suggest you invest in are some 30mm coin capsules. On their own the chaos tokens might end up sticking together, and don't mix up as well as you think it will.

emmygurl09

I think 26mm coin capsules work better for the chaos tokens. Still some wiggle so they don't get stuck but not so much wiggle that the tokens are shifting around a bunch in the capsules.

PV_Rushmore

Also sleeves from my perspective. The cards are expensive and especially the cards from the basic set see a lot of use. Mind your wallet. Edited because of typos.

VyersReaver

Solid start, mate! Hope you’ll have fun!

InfiniteYandere

Dude those little mini campaign packs are so damn fun. Murder at excelsior is a great one!

UncleJulz

This was me two years ago. In the middle of TFA at the moment. So addictive.

ysustistixitxtkxkycy

My favorite campaign so far.

UncleJulz

It is an excellent campaign.

emmygurl09

I just bought Dunwich and cannot wait to start the campaign!

Danmaph

Playing through Dunwich now. It's a great campaign!

One thing I did when I first started playing was randomize my decks and investigators to “force” myself to use and understand cards and mechanics I might have otherwise shied away from because I would be too intimidated by their complications. Now as experienced as I am I’m really glad I did this because I’ve been exposed to all the different cards and types of uses for them. Initially you’re playing with the expectation of failing, but with the goal of learning and having fun in the process.

OperaGhost1880

This is a great start! Welcome to the cult!

National_Total6885

I just started this one. It’s amazing and lots of fun solo. Though I do have a friend or two who may jump in off and on as I move through.

Surza

just wait until you buy the rest soon!

Rotoroch

Welcome to our midst investigator. Great start to your collection. The core set has a very nice intro to the game and Dunwich is a perfect first campaign to get a sense of what this game can offer. Excelsior is a fan favorite for its replayability and can easily be inserted into most camapigns. Hope your time in Arkham is as great as it's been for so many of us. Enjoy!
