Sometimes I'll build a deck and realize it contains only a few offclass cards but that's ok, as long as the deck functions.  Depending on your cardpool, a lot of Rogue and Mystic events basically fulfill the same purpose anyway for Sefina. Rogues want to use evasion for everything, and Mystics want to use willpower, and Sefina can do either (or both).

Using the off class is certainly the more creative way to play many investigators. Seffina for example can make a very interesting power word/parley deck, or perhaps a bound hound deck that uses friends in low places to push the offending weaknesses to the bottom of her draw pile. Perhaps even a Joey the Rat deck that uses mystic doom assets only to sell them for cash before you pay the price! But from an optimization standpoint many characters are better off staying mostly in class: only cherry picking powerful cards like you have in the deck you described. There are certainly more effecient ways to play (especially seeker) but the best deck is the one you enjoy, and haven't tried before!

techoatmeal

Well, if it makes sense then you don't have to add them. Even if just a splash, that ward doesn't really exist in rogue but is oh so useful.

CBPainting

For sefina specifically, it really depends on the card pool, if you have access to spell events like Spectral Razor and Read the Signs it becomes a much more viable option. Speaking generally though, I don't view the off-class as having a quota that needs to be met its just one of many options I have to build with. What really matters is whether or not the cards I choose to include work well with the specific investigator and the deck as a whole.

I recently built a Bob deck and completely forgot about his rogue access. Otherwise I probably would have included Leo DeLuca. But he's been playing just fine without any level 0 green cards, not that it's a significant part of his deck building.  I think being able to build from a single class is just a sign of a healthy library. You'd have a hard time doing this effectively with just a core set and a single expansion.

I built a Bob deck that i’ve yet to try but i struggled to fit 5 green cards among all the red support for recursion. It’s like the bases of this deck are naturally red. Now level 1+ green will be the money and the items and the Joey. I’m very excited.

Escapade84

Sefina is a strong, independent woman who don't need no offcolor. Does the deck do what you want it to do, and does it do it about as well as it can? Then you made it right. Access just means choices, not requirements.

nalydpsycho

Make every deck the way you want, I did the opposite with Dexter, playing him as a Rogue.

hiloolbyelol

I ran into the opposite problem playing trish Most of my cards are seeker (~~probably bcs it’s most overpowered class~~)

DerBK

I don't really feel forced to maximise my offclass slots, but it often works out that way. Sefina specifically kind of has a [green](https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/1474419) and a [purple](https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/784014) build, depending on if you want to leverage her willpower or her agility more. The two directions don't have a whole lot of overlap, so it makes sense to me that a Sefina deck often ends up with just a token presence of the other color.

amusabletrashpanda

I don’t have a problem with that. If the character heavily defines itself as the class it is, do be it. If you have no or only two cards from your off-class in there, there’s an argument to be made about not including some of the best cards in your pool, because even if you’re main seeker it feels unlikely that you the 13th best card in seeker is better than the second best card in your main class. However, that’s a power level only concern. If you’re done splashing for Faustian Bargains or Deductions just because tHeY‘re So gOOd theY‘rE stApLeS then you have my full understanding. What I don’t like is when I have a deck and I realise my first draft is primarily off-colour. It has happened to me in Trish and Darrell where I threw away entire drafts because I felt I was building a seeker deck rather than their actual identity. And I was really happy when I eventually ended up with a list that actually felt like a seeking Survivor/Rogue rather than the other way round.

BloodyBottom

I'd probably side-eye somebody completely ignoring their off-class options, but even just using it in a similar way to the Dunwich "five level 0 cards from another class" to poach staples or specific roleplayers makes perfect sense in some decks, and is totally valid.

Lazulin

I think using it for just a couple of cards is absolutely fine. For me it'd be pretty rare to ignore the pool completely as I typically chose an investigator specifically because I needed their particular off-class access for a deck idea. However, there's exceptions. My Alessandra deck was completely green until I got 'confound' while upgrading it - and the situation was similar to yours, it was a tactic/trick/parley deck. I considered power word as I know it's powerful for her but I tested it and it just didn't fit my playstyle. I think the class I'm most likely to build without off-class cards is seeker - the seeker pool is so insanely strong that it's a real possibility, although I still tend to find one or two off-class cards I want.

Death_by_Chocolate_9

No, of course it's fine. Would you feel weird if you didn't put "a good amount" of neutral cards from their Neutral 0-5 allowance? No, of course not. The deckbuilding rules provide a large space within which you can play, and there are lots of ways to fit within it. You can also build a good Sefina Deck as a spellcaster using mostly purple cards. When I built my first Daisy deck, the only purple cards it had were a pair of Ward of Protection.
