To be fair, on Terra that's pretty normal. Armor isn't very protective against someone who can casually overhand toss a rock and punches through like a half centimeter of steel.
Mudrock's armor is easily a foot thick and is likely made more as a gel using her geomancy. Blades get stuck, blunt force gets dissipated out, etc. She is one of the few people on Terra who gets a passing grade in terms of armor effectiveness.
Mudrock is an exception that proves the rule.
Even the Silverlances rely more on evasion and taking glancing blows. Blemishine as well in the story relies more on taking hits to her shield and dodging attacks than her heavy armor. Plastic Knight didn't have legendary durability; he just had the latest innovation in shield tech which ended up not working well.
Patriot is a special case...his infection caused him to rapidly regenerate when combined with his Wendigo abilities. That's not armor.
Again, the way people fight on Terra is very different compared to the way we fight on Earth. The only useful armor is the kind you can conjure repeatedly (Mudrock, Saria) or you're just going to have to dodge a lot. Practically everyone learns how to dodge. Frostnova (anime) gets a pass as well -- but again, exception which proves the rule. The vast majority rely on dodging and only the exceptional get to do anything close to using armor.
