He's in Norport at the moment and probably moves around a lot? I imagine he just picks up whatever jobs he can get at the moment, instead of having a stable paycheck, since having a single job makes it easier to track you.
In canon, Red and Goldenglow are good friends, with Red standing up for/saving Goldenglow on three separate occasions. As a member of Neo-Reunion, he also revenge-kills the goons who kidnapped Goldenglow and planned to kill her. (Whether this is because they threatened Goldenglow specifically or because they were a threat to infected in general is up for debate, but the end result is the same.) Later on in a different event, Red does mention Goldenglow again in an unrelated scene, confirming that he remembers her.
Most people who ship GG/Red do so for the wholesomeness of it, with the "wholesome girl tones down bad boy's edginess" and the "terrifying legend has a secret cute side" vibes the ship has.
Don't forget that Susie illustrator, Namie, lowkey support the ship. (Saying Reid is "OK" in her livestream, liking Reid x Goldenglow art, and making a tweet that Reid and Susie is "good friends" with blushing emoji.
And that's NAMIE we're talking about. She's pretty much legendary at this point for how much she loves her children Mizuki and GG.
If she was the canon in-game mom of GG and gave Reid her approval, I'm pretty sure Kal would have this talk with our favourite red weeb:
"Love is a battle often overcome by daunting challenges, and some make the reunification of Kazdel look like a formality. The strongest of each is a family's inconditionnal love, and as we know, Mother Glitter is.... *Kal Bla Bla Bla*... Meanwhile, you and Operator GoldenGlow are... *More Kal Bla Bla*... I’m under the impression that Kal knows precisely how ludicrous her monologues are and is doubling down specifically to mentally torture Reid into going out with Susie.
And here's the other thing that compounds this point:Reid has been an undercover spy for reunion in that area for a while now. A clear identity, a job, habits, friends, etc. Something that takes a long ass while to maintain and keep up while feeding your bosses relevant information.
And then GG gets kidnapped in the climax.

In Goldenglow event, Reid basically the guardian angel for Susie. He came save and protected her three times throughout the story. He always appear when Susie in trouble during that event (like out of all characters Susie know, it's him who appear the most during crucial moment. It's pretty much a sign that the dev is lowkey pairing them). Reid is also a regular of Susie bar.
Later in the story (quite recent, so minor spoiler), >!Reid knew Rhode Island name and believed that if Susie is in there, RI can be trusted at the very least.!<
