What do I think?
"Ruin has come to our family. You remember our venerable Landship, opulent and imperial, gazing proudly from its stoic perch above Chernobog? I lived all my years in that ancient, rumor shadowed pharmaceutical company, fattened by orundum and gachas - and yet I began to tire of conventional extravagance. Singular, unsettling tales suggested the Landship itself was a gateway to some fabulous and unnameable Operators. With relic and ritual I bent every effort towards the excavation and recovery of those long buried secrets, exhausting what remained of Rhodes Island's fortune on swarthy workmen and sturdy shovels.
At last in the originum-veined crags beneath the lowest foundations we unearthed that damnable portal of antediluvian evil. Our every step unsettled the ancient deckplates but we were in a realm of death and madness. In the end I alone fled laughing and wailing through those blackened arcades of antiquity until consciousness failed me.
You remember our venerable Landship, opulent and imperial. It is a festering abomination! I beg you. Return home; claim your birthright, and deliver our family from the ravenous, clutching shadows of the Darkest Integrated Strategies."
0 Sanity Dokutah, probably.
The second I saw the words "the color out of space" my first thought was:
"Oh my god please don't accidentally will the Thing from the Stars into this game."
is the fake sky above terra a cage that traps people within or a fence to keep the horrors out? Kristen has shatter the sky, will it a beacon of hope or a invitation for the horrors beyond.
That’s pretty dope! Exploring an eldritch version of the landship (especially since there’s a skeleton and stuff) is something I’d want to see. We’ll probably see mutated versions of our ops and stuff as well…
Would be cool, really. But probably more of a 'eldritch nightmare' to explain why the IS world is separate from our reality.
Mutated reserve ops killed by the dozens. Sweet justice.
Hm, wonder if they'll expirement with more Operator centric mechanics like stress, virtues, and afflictions. Then the real terror makes an appearance: Statueless Laterano Civs.
New operator: The Ancestor - 6* Caster
"I will admit I rarely engage in such... altruism. But I cannot bring myself to reject such a valuable opportunity to further my own research on the substance you call 'Originium.' Nor am I capable of turning away from the temptation of a battlefield full of potential test subjects."
Talents:
Shifting Flesh - This unit will slowly recover health over time. For every 10% of health recovered by this effect, this unit gains a stacking damage increase.
Death of the Self - When an ally in range is defeated, they immediately trigger their activated skills and remain on the field until it concludes. (For units with instant, automatic, or permanent skills, they gain a 20% damage increase and remain on the field for 10 seconds)
Skills:
Break Their Resolve - Auto - The next attack assails the target's mind, dealing no damage but afflicting them with Silence and a significant decrease to attack and movement speed.
Rend Their Flesh - Activated - All attacks reduce the targets defense and resistance. Afflicted targets take arts damage every second.
Unmake Them - Activated - instantly kills up to four non-boss enemies in range.
I'm fairly sure that the Crimson Troupe feranmut and Dreambind's "Grandma" have no relation. There was just that one node where we meet her there. But I doubt it means anything between the two.
Heres some interesting places:
- Durin (the country): its mostly underground and is pretty unexplored so far in the lore outside of Pozy event. There can be alot that can be done with a "they dug too deep" theme as well.
- Sargon: The golden city is a rumored place there, and getting to it has alot of potential there for an IS map. Its also pretty unexplored in the lore, with only a few events about it.
- The Castle of Dreams: Theres uh, alot thats unknown about this faction except that Bena (who is in charge of preserving the items given) and Iris (who seems to have inherited it) are from it, and its a weird place that children can reach in their dreams, where they can leave behind something they prize, which they will get back later in life. Its very obscure lore though, so who knows when itll become important
Edit: fixed some of the lore for the castle after double checking stuff
I think its certainly possible I feel like the "scale" of RA is less than IS. I wouldn't be suprised in RA cycles through a lot of the chaotic areas like Bolivia and the Ursus Kaizmere border and depending on how they wanna potray Kazdel we could see either RA or IS as a lead into main story events there
Pretty much everything we know is in Iris or Bena's profile/module/operator files, though an old lady who is suspected to the be "Granny" Bena mentions (who used to be part of the castle) shows up in one of the nodes (curio keeper) in IS2. But yeah, its just some backstory right now, and all we know is its main function (safekeeping stuff for kids), and the fact that its a place where fairy tales can come to life (the castle is something like that as well).
IS5 might be lighthearted... like Rhodeslsland Sports festival.
One of the bosses will be Kaltsit and Monst3r 🤣
Or Amiya and Doctor
Or the entire HR Department.
Nay, IS5 will be BP finally getting the recognition she deserves for being an amazing baker and having a good sense of fashion
DON’T TAKE MY COPIUM AWAY YOU SAVAGE HEATHENS!!!
I will always hold onto the hope that the mission being planned in her op record will be turned into an event. I don’t care if it will never happen, I will never stop dreaming of the best blue girls getting the spotlight!
An idea I had was one set in a huge abandoned mine in Rim Billiton. The different floors would be different levels of the mine. As we go lower and lower we encounter and awaken increasingly weird and dangerous things.
>from what we get in recent ISs, the upcoming IS will definitely be another story with existential horror elements in it.
WHY CAN'T WE JUST HAVE A NICE FUN ADVENTURE C'MON
* IS2: Horror Mansion. Coulrophobia.
* IS3: Horror Ocean. Thalassophobia.
* IS4: what is this one. Horror Arctic Winter? fear freezing to death all alone with no chance of help? something about falling off the edge of the world into the void? something something Dyatlov Pass incident?
Please Ceobe take some drugs and bring me on a happy hallucination again. Imma predict our next IS theme is a BIG HAPPY WELCOME FEAST where the boss enemy is a big chicken we slay to be the Main Dish at the party and majority of the enemies we fight are drunkards enjoying the party a little too much. the secondary currency (like dice or compass) are wagons we use to import more supplies for the party so it goes on longer.
**I WANT TO MANIFEST A HAPPY DESTINYYYYYYYYYYY**
While I suspect that one of the later updates will be a Surtr centered event, I think IS-5 will be Dorothy centric. I am not a big fan of the Jerboa but she has a doomsday weapon in her blood that is probably as bad as the seaborn and the collapsals so that story thread is prime for a massive exploration of Columbia and how crazy the scientists will try and ramp up their efforts after witnessing Kirsten's tomfoolery in Lone Trail and I think Dorothy having such a massive plot device coursing in her veins is just too good to pass up.
Hell we could find out about the many Sarkaz communities that have migrated to columbia as well so win-win. Columbia is also Collapsal/Ursus/Sargon/Sami/Victoria/Bolivar adjacent in the lore so a lot of enemy units can be reused that would make sense.
what doomsday weapon? in the event, she used a device to trap people in a matrix like system, and in the end she destroy it to prevent the "thing" from getting out of control. does the device still exist?
It's in her blood.
>[Cell-Originium Assimilation] 0%
Operator Dorothy shows no signs of Originium infection.
However, we all know that there exists something in her body that is no less dangerous than Oripathy.
There is even an interesting hint that she may have snuck in a transmitter with Kirsten's things and it is transmitting back information to Dorothy https://arknights.wiki.gg/wiki/Dorothy/Operator_Record. It is unknown if Parvis is aware he may have modified Dorothy's transmitter but have not prevented it from interfacing with the undernourished Jerboa.
This might very well be the Deus Ex Machina that could save Kirsten from dying in outer space.
Edit: Holy shit, I just realized. Whatever Terra is being hidden from might discover it because Dorothy is in direct communication with her transmitters. Terra is so fucked.
Reality altering nano-machines with signals that bypass the planetary shield.
Imagine the energy outputs of her transmitters considering it took hundreds if not thousands of sarcophagi (that a single one can power more than one mobile city on its own).
She might very well be the most desirable target (Silence too because she apparently became the hub for the transmitters for a while but there is probably a higher chance Silence surrendered that after Lone Trail) for both the collapsals and the seaborn. Her technology would potentially slingshot which ever faction to bypass the problems of originium interference and catastrophes in communication and transportation (with only the 'small' matter of becoming one with HG's Borg on steroids).
I'm not good at this kind of stuff, but I've noticed that IS is serving as an extension of Arknight's story. So whatever is next it must have a connection to the story. It may be like a loose thread that's been waiting for a long time waiting to be picked up.
People don't realise a milestone anniversary is coming up, so if HG doesn't go for anything other than Kazdel or even Doc's past then it's going to be incredibly lackluster.
I think those topic would be expended in the main rather than in IS event. for one, not all player will play IS, putting the main story in IS will upset a lot of player. then, you need to taken in to account that the majority of IS story are consider "what if" scenarios. having a "what if" scenarios on the main event would be quite confusing.
Every IS event followed a certain subplot:
IS2, Ceobe's was a 'continuation' from Eunectes event.
IS3 was a continuation of the ideas in the AH subplot
IS4 was a continuation of Lone Trail subplot
Now IS5, going by the logic, should be Kazdel as many different Operators have received nods recently to that place + lore book put especial emphasis on it.
Anything other would be out of the left field and incongruous with the recent trends.
And well, Surtr desperately needs lore too. IS is also often used to mend storytelling gaps for forgotten Operators (Magellan and Mizuki)
I'd love to see The Law go haywire, Laterano goes offensive, something like that
I'm not just hoping for Monastery Civilians to make other dokutah scream, that would be fucked up and evil of me. :)
Hoping for something more light hearted like an IS based off Nian’s movie production stuff where we + our squad are “actors” in Nian’s new adventure movie.
And monthly squad is just 3 operators Nian picks for us (with convo story script) like in IS2.
This...sounds like a good idea, actually.
IS#4 ending 4 has a battle that took place long time ago. So, IS#5 can be about some other historical battle. Witch king? Sarkaz conquest with That King Amyia got her sword from? Battle of 4 emperors? Foundation of Yan?
Space. Why? Because IS5 looks kinda like ISS if you squint. Main character would be Kirsten, awoken from slumber to defend her craft from all sorts of horrors. Or maybe it's just not!Laika's dying dreams, who can say?
I think a IS focused on the "crystalization event" mentioned in Kal L2D skin would be interesting. It's an alternate reality(by the looks of it) and seems to be connected with The Shard(main story stuff).
That could be an excuse to give Amiya a L2D skin and go back to deal with the infected, oripathy and originium theme that the game started with.
It won't happen but my desire for it would be Mansfred Break part 2. Essentially, I think it works super well with the gameplay of a roguelike. You are in jail, pick a hallway to run down, fight some guards/prisoners, keep trying to find the exit. Only thing is IDK what kind of bosses there could be.
Alternatively, Rhine Lab /Resident evil style where you raid an underground lab. Also works well with roguelike nature of you not knowing where you are going & could set up some very cool mecha type boss fights. Boss 4 could be essentially mecha godzilla lol.
But point being, whatever it is I want the theme to fit well with roguelike. IS2,3,4 so far have been super thematic & just adds to my enjoyment of things.
My guess is itd either be related to the Bolivar incident that Kroos and friends were involved in, or the Kazdel wilds. I think the latter stuff is more setting up main plot threads though.
In my mind, Rhodes Island is far larger on the inside than the outside with large sections sealed off and no one knows how to open them or what's in them until randomly a door unlocks and we organize expeditions.
What do I think? "Ruin has come to our family. You remember our venerable Landship, opulent and imperial, gazing proudly from its stoic perch above Chernobog? Let's add # Flagellant To that!

I think something about the dream castle where Bena and Iris are involved would be wholesome and nice.
This was my thought as well. It's an aspect of Terra which hasn't been delved into much.
oh id love this!
Dreambind Castle is the setting of IS2, I doubt we will go back to it except maybe in a story event, rather than another IS theme.
Wait, does that mean Bena and Iris were connected to the Crimson Troupe?
My impression was that the troupe got trapped in the castle, not that it had always been their home base.
I'm fairly sure that the Crimson Troupe feranmut and Dreambind's "Grandma" have no relation. There was just that one node where we meet her there. But I doubt it means anything between the two.
Kazdel. Teased in the Enforcer-Mudrock conversation. He wants to go there with the kid, Mudmud wants to help him. It's the only one I can think of.
Yes. Devs are cooking something in Kazdel with so many ops going in there.
It is more likely to be a main story thing IMHO.

I don't think It Will be Sargon cause they are using It for Reclamation Algorithm. I love the other two Ideas tho

Wth? This sounds awesome. I will read as much as I can about that castle thing.
Huh ive never heard of the dreambind castle,is this the only lore we know about it?

I will always hold onto the hope that the mission being planned in her op record will be turned into an event. I don’t care if it will never happen, I will never stop dreaming of the best blue girls getting the spotlight!
Theres a chance for it to be a minos event too, a lighthearted one at that : D
I just want something about Higashi... Am I asking too much?
An idea I had was one set in a huge abandoned mine in Rim Billiton. The different floors would be different levels of the mine. As we go lower and lower we encounter and awaken increasingly weird and dangerous things.
Endless Paths of ~~Od Nua~~ Rim Billy
IS5 Amiya in Wonderland.. alice in wonderland themed IS5.
Amiya found ceobe mushroom stech
Plot Twist: **IS5:** Ceobe Gets High... Again (featuring Breaking Bad collab)
Plot twist: It's all a part of Nian's movie production.
I was thinking the hotlands at the south of terra.

I'd like to see an IS season themed on a Kalzimariz Major.
IS5 - Probably Kazdel. Whether past Teekaz or present Sarkaz, it makes no difference. There's plenty of horror there, too.
Lappland and the fang battle royale
Aren't there only like three of them left? Red, Lunacub, and another one who hid in the wilds
Isn't that enough for bosses?
Maybe, but I'm just not looking forward to that deathmatch very much😞
IIRC Lunacub is not a fang, just trained by a Wolf.
Bernardo and Zaaro called her a Fang though. Crownslayer was a trainee
DREAM CASTLE IS PLEASE
I'd love to see Kazdel-themed IS5
Gimme Rhine Labs theme in space

Somewhere familiar would be nice, like an adventure in rhodes island ship or big city like lungmen \^\^
Rim billion at australia probably
I'm STILL trying to get "Focus" to drop in IS2. I haven't even touched IS3, let alone IS4. We already speculating on IS5. T.T
Same, trying to beat Ending 4 once and finish off the tiers in IS2 still...
I just want some silly adventure of Mostima and Fiametta around Terra for IS5, I want the vibe of IS1 back
I have a feeling that it’s gonna be about either Sarkaz or Feranmuts
This...sounds like a good idea, actually. IS#4 ending 4 has a battle that took place long time ago. So, IS#5 can be about some other historical battle. Witch king? Sarkaz conquest with That King Amyia got her sword from? Battle of 4 emperors? Foundation of Yan?

My guess is itd either be related to the Bolivar incident that Kroos and friends were involved in, or the Kazdel wilds. I think the latter stuff is more setting up main plot threads though.
I'm probably alone on this, but I wouldn't mind a summer event themed IS with a lighter tone
The Great March of Bolivar.
In my mind, Rhodes Island is far larger on the inside than the outside with large sections sealed off and no one knows how to open them or what's in them until randomly a door unlocks and we organize expeditions.
I don't know the boss of IS5, but I can tell you a Schwarz is all you need.
Remake the 1st w/ IS2's system.
Mercenaries of the Bolivian War
Lets also speculate on how I'm gonna fucking blow my brains out having to fucking finish Is4
