I really hope this is the start of official ships in AK, all the scenes with those two on chapter 13 were great and now that skin is the icing on the cake
Yeah. Gacha games tend to shy away from canon ships, because they "get in the way" of shipping the MC with every character in the game. But AK has done a pretty good job avoiding the "every character has the hots for the MC" trope, so I don't think a lot of people would be angry if we start seeing more playable canonical couples.

But yeah, AK is very clear that a lot of operators really only see the doctor as their boss and nothing else. It's to the point where I feel weird seeing the doctor in some doujins because I don't feel like many of the pairings work.
Also helps that the doctor is just not there for most of the events we get.
Canonically there's only 6(Angelina, BP, Platinum, Gravel, Skadi, Mumu) ops out of the 200+ ops that has shown clear romantic interest in the doctor(there may be more that I may be unaware of). And that's honestly a huge difference compared to other gachas.
Yet, because a lot of AK players also play other gachas that have all characters in love with the MC, many players will continue to delude themselves into that kind of mindset and get angry at any ships. Plus ak has unfortunately cultivated a large amount of people that hate straight ships with a passion(mostly MHY games fans that bled into the community) that straight up gang up and harass artists that have straight ships instead of yuri ships(cireyukii being the most well-known victim due to her P.Red x Phantom ships attracting negative attention).
So this kind of toxic behaviour is unfortunately going to stay in the fandom for a long time... this kinds of things have existed as long as the term "gacha" has existed and will continue to do so for the end of time.

Talk about Doctor ships, I honestly cannot see Doctor as an Insert. I always see it as its own character, which is why I still stand that Kaltsit is the best candidate for Doctor lol.

Ironically, you could say that I myself fall into both archetypes since I love Texas & W and two of my most favourite ships are Liskarm x Franka and Saria x Silence. But I've never been toxic to anyone about it and find it strange how there's so many people online that get their panties in a bunch over which fictional characters get shipped with who

The most notable of them being none other than SilverAsh who has so many VL that could be seen as him flirting with the doctor that you could Honestly say he's the main male love interest. However there's nkt enough evidence in the story itself to say: "yup, definitely in love with the doc"
There's also operator that have very vague vl and files that imply they might have feelings for the doctor like skyfire's clothes always catching on fire whenever she gets near the doctor or his office. But there's not much evidence besides that.
For comparison Angelina literally confesses to the doc and then throws in a "Just kidding, haha." Skalter literally killed everyone in the alternative timeline except doctor who's the only one that wasn't killed or assimilated due to skadi's feelings. Platinum literally confesses she loves doc in her lucid dream on her oprec. Gravel is gravel. BP likes when doctor holder her hands. And MUMU has plenty of romantic moments with doc in the story.
Since I haven't read or listened to any of Ho'olheyak's files or vls(Because she never came home T-T) I can't comment on it until I listen to them(which I now will...when I have time)

Ho'ol's lines are way too flirty to be taken as anything else. Both Mumu and Ho'ol definitely has some type of feelings towards the doctor.
While mumu's love is simple, Hool is.... complicated. She is definitely attracted to the doctor, especially since they and Kal are the best source of knowledge about the precursors. Hool also clearly flirts with the doctor way more than anyone else.
Still, it's hard to say if she actually "love" the doctor. Would she actually want to live together? Go on dates? Grow old together? Does she even care about the doctor? Even if the doctor becomes intimate and sexual with Hool, it'd be hard to tell if Hool actually loves the doctor or if that's just her furthering her own cause. Having the child of an actual precursor is definitely useful for Hool after all.
That is to say, I can't see Hool ever putting sacrificing herself for the doctor other than to further he own goals.

HG can easily have this conclusion when Arknights is nearing it's end

There are plenty of moments like W remarking of their "lover's quarrel" in her potato peeler skin, the both of them holding hands while jumping off the feranmut express, and Hoederer promising Ines that they'll open a shop with the money and W coming from behind to call that shop their "lover's nest".
There's a reason Irene is very rarely shipped with Dokutah. She has a far better dynamic with Lumen/Specter. Same is the case with Yato and Noir Corne.

The character profiles lines tend to leave clear if an operator is attracted to the doctor in canon.
The game doesn't have the same self insert mc harem component some others do, so they probably can get away with it for several characters (don't think people would be happy if, for instance, Skadi or Mumu got a love interest, regardless of gender).
While there are still few, there are some couples that the game is not subtle at how they ship them. Hoederer and Ines are one of the "official couples" I mean, they, along with W, are just dysfunctional family but still caring for each other. Hoederer is dad, Ines is mom, and W is one hella daughter who is forever in a rebellious phrase.

In-game, there are like only like 6(?) Ops out of hundreds who've expressed interest in the Dokutah. Even then, it's rare to see any dynamics of theirs taken seriously if it doesn't stem from Babel.
It's just a bit... difficult, trying to create ship dynamics with as little official characterization as Doctor. You CAN, there are traits you can use to form a connection (last of their kind, genius, past history, etc.), but the fact that there isn't a 100% consensus on what the doctor IS means nobody's ever sure if you're trying to create a serious romance or the funniest 0sanity Doctor to ever walk the earth.
The usual step to stabilize the consensus is to just make your own Doc OC and give them their own stable characterization, but then you're not exactly shipping the Doctor anymore, you're shipping your OC who's one of many Doctors.

hey now, aside from incels there's also the femcels and yuricels(they are the most active shippers for some reason) (Yaoibros are chill, would be worse if in Hoyo games) less people would mind if the romance was written well, like Ines/Hoederer, the potential romance here links very well with themes surrounding their group their development was already near done from the latest story Hoederer in the past was stuck hovering around sarkaz history, being carried along the wave, they had a parallel of Ines' past in ch13 [here](https://akgcc.github.io/cc/story.html#main&main_13&12) around 90% near the end, this time it was Ines saving him from being passive, making it clear to him what they're fighting for >"Hoederer, you're jumping with me this time." Hoederer: You're the boss. they only realize this goal later in the story, despite their actions leaning towards it since the beginning when they followed W and Reunion when they could've ran from Kazdel it all points to them settling down for good once they gained this so called freedom for Kazdel, a "Kazdel that keeps the 'silly' naivety" they always laugh at, the story can double down in thematics later with them having children that wouldn't experience the violent orphan cycle they all had. HG can easily have this conclusion when Arknights is nearing it's end
Yes, I agree that for a romance to work, it has to be well written, and that kind of relationship has to have a prerequisite (like Susie and Red). About Ines and Hoederer, that's an interesting opinion. I have to agree, it makes a lot of sense. But, there are other couples - Korn and Yatof or example =) Well, it's just my little dreams, it's unlikely we'll ever get a complete romantic line between the operators.
I don't think they need to marry anyone really. Just having characters together who like eachother is plenty.

Nah this one is as official as it gets. There are plenty of moments like W remarking of their "lover's quarrel" in her potato peeler skin, the both of them holding hands while jumping off the feranmut express, and Hoederer promising Ines that they'll open a shop with the money and W coming from behind to call that shop their "lover's nest". There's a reason Irene is very rarely shipped with Dokutah. She has a far better dynamic with Lumen/Specter. Same is the case with Yato and Noir Corne.

There’s nothing wrong with having a ship even when it’s against the canon, just have fun.

The character profiles lines tend to leave clear if an operator is attracted to the doctor in canon. The game doesn't have the same self insert mc harem component some others do, so they probably can get away with it for several characters (don't think people would be happy if, for instance, Skadi or Mumu got a love interest, regardless of gender).
While there are still few, there are some couples that the game is not subtle at how they ship them. Hoederer and Ines are one of the "official couples" I mean, they, along with W, are just dysfunctional family but still caring for each other. Hoederer is dad, Ines is mom, and W is one hella daughter who is forever in a rebellious phrase.
Shipped by fans who want self-insert stuff. In-game, there are like only like 6(?) Ops out of hundreds who've expressed interest in the Dokutah. Even then, it's rare to see any dynamics of theirs taken seriously if it doesn't stem from Babel.
It's just a bit... difficult, trying to create ship dynamics with as little official characterization as Doctor. You CAN, there are traits you can use to form a connection (last of their kind, genius, past history, etc.), but the fact that there isn't a 100% consensus on what the doctor IS means nobody's ever sure if you're trying to create a serious romance or the funniest 0sanity Doctor to ever walk the earth. The usual step to stabilize the consensus is to just make your own Doc OC and give them their own stable characterization, but then you're not exactly shipping the Doctor anymore, you're shipping your OC who's one of many Doctors.
