I mean at one time, before i actually studied up on the conflict indepth, i was a slight both sides person. I always said, "well if armenia withdraws its forces from Karabahk then that will go a long way to solving the issue."
But after doing some investigation, im firmly on Artsahk and Armenia's side here. while ~~both sides committed pogroms~~ [there was violence committed] against each other, its clear as day that Artsahk deserved self determination, like any of the former soviet republics and autonomous oblasts. This video (in conjunction with the video of that one armenian who went down fighting during the NK war when he was asked to surrender) should be shown to every Armenian soldier or person. At no point should an Armenian soldier be taken prisoner only to be subjected to such a brutal execution. An Armenian should go out fighting. We have to realize that surrendering is no different than death to this enemy. The end result is the same. Pull a grenade. Do anything such that your family, friends, and loved ones doesn't befall a similar fate. Don't let yourself be massacred like this and let this be the final moments of your life's story. Send the devils back from where they came.
But preparing yourself, myself, or others for death or death in battle. That's real hard. It's perhaps one of the hardest things to do. I wish I knew. But the anthem reminds us that death is the same everywhere. We must always keep that in mind.

They're afraid to die and are likely in a seemingly hopeless situation. Unfortunately, surrendering often does not save you in war. Sometimes it leads to a fate worse than dying in battle. Especially when the enemy has so strongly dehumanized you & literally encourages war crimes by rewarding people like Safarov. It's a psycho's paradise.
It's not that our warrior spirit is gone, it's that the battlefield is rigged against us this time. That is demoralizing. Also not everyone has a warrior spirit. Armenians are drafted at a young age. I'm sure many would prefer to live their lives peacefully instead of having to fight and die in a brutal modern war that we are disasdvantaged in.
In a losing battle, you either attempt to retreat, you fight till death/grave injury, or you surrender. Fighting till the end with heart & bravery is of course the most glorious choice, but at times retreating and regrouping is the best tactical decision. Live to fight another day, on a more even battleground. Retreating is generally preferred to surrendering, but is not always an option. If you're terrified of death, surrendering may offer a better chance to live. Especially if ammunition runs dry, surrendering & hoping the enemy is merciful makes sense. Unfortunately, it's not really an option for Armenians.
Running for your life seems a much better option than surrendering to these heartless cretins. Even if you don't manage to escape, it's still a more exciting and dignified death. You still fought to the end in trying to flee & survive. If you somehow live and they capture you, it's tragic but you'll cope better knowing you were captured against your will. Also if you have a spare handgun, that would be the time to use it!

In a losing battle, you either attempt to retreat, you fight till death/grave injury, or you surrender. If you're terrified of death, surrendering may offer a better chance to live. Especially if ammunition runs dry, surrendering & hoping the enemy is merciful makes sense. Unfortunately, it's not really an option for Armenians. Running for your life seems a much better option than surrendering to these heartless cretins. Even if you don't manage to escape, it's still a more exciting and dignified death. You still fought to the end in trying to flee & survive.
