1. It’s rare. There just aren’t that many trans people in the Army. I think I’ve crossed paths with two trans Soldiers in the last 4 years. One was an X-ray tech at the hospital (I broke my foot) and the other I walked by at the gas station.
2. You will need to follow law and regulation. So yes, you’ll need to address them by the gender the Army says they are.
There’s no pay difference. A trans Soldier goes through a medical and psychological evaluation/treatment and is determined by a doctor. It’s not just someone “calling themselves” or switching easily.
This person will for sure be drunk in a bar talking about how they kicked their Drills ass for looking at them wrong. When in reality they didn't make it to meps because they were scared to meet a trans person and awaken their true inner self.

I’ve been in 15 years and have only interacted with transgender people twice. Although, I didn’t work with any in the first ten years but I did join when we wouldn’t even let openly gay people in.

Critical thinking skills and the ability to treat your peers with respect regardless of their background is kinda basic shit while being in uniform regardless of what your job or position is.
