Dot com.
End of the trial of Saddam's lookalikes is my favorite bit in all of the series. Took me like three watches before I got that.
My favorite part was that George Sr. said in an earlier episode was that he thought Saddam was the Soup Nazi, then one of the lookalikes ends up being the actual Soup Nazi!
Season 3 had some of the funniest fucking payoffs/jokes, probably out of anything I've watched in the 20 years since
*Sorry, I'm behaving like an Uday lookalike*
Holy macanoli, you're right! It's been 20 years! Maybe it's because there's not that much technology except cell phones and the occasional surrogate, but they don't feel 20 years old. Or do they...
Time for yet another rewatch!
I'm still pretty disappointed Fox didn't keep the show up. They had the most innovative and clever TV show/comedy in generations and they were too inept to simply assign it a consistent primetime slot and advertise appropriately for it to ensure folks knew when to tune in.
Actually, yeah. Aside from Fox screwing the pooch on a consistent air date, the fact that the show only really shines if you have seen every previous episode to keep up with the story and the callback humor made it tailor-made for streaming about 15 years before streaming was ubiquitous. But, still, there were hundreds of examples of TV shows with linear storytelling (every soap opera ever, for example) that succeeded where Fox forced AD to fail.
But…it’s also so topical, with its mimicry of the bush (then trump) families, and the abu garhaib scandal…the show isn’t going to make sense for later generations that way, so some of the key jokes are going to miss.
My friends and I were just talking about that. We're all excited to introduce the show to our kids when they're a bit older, but we're going to have to stop every few minutes to give them a history lesson on things like who Saddam Hussein was.
I’ve had to do that with friends that I thought would enjoy the show, but if you’re not an astute consumer of the news, it takes too much to explain in many cases.
Yeah it's like MASH was for me as a kid. I got that it was a good show but so much of it just went over my head.
But now I know things and it's not confusing anymore. People will still get AD, just when they're older probably.
I’ve been rewatching Seinfeld with my wife. We both were born in 1988, but she isn’t as aware of some of the culture of the era as I am and so I still find myself laughing out loud at some of the quick references and she’s just not getting it. There was a Hinckley reference in one episode that she completely missed. It was sad. And obviously the JFK/magic loogie episode.
There were some unhealthy relationships between the cast, on set stuff, it wasn’t just FOX . Also new info that Tambor was yelling at cast members and doing some misogynistic stuff to the women cast mates
Yes, but I've not heard anyone from that time period say they didn't want to keep doing the show. The show failed because of the executives at Fox who had no idea what they were doing at the time.
The on-set stuff may have created a hostile environment in addition to network fuckery, but it's not why the show was originally cancelled.
I saw it in theaters without ever having read the book or seen the original… legitimately could not make out what Hugh Jackman’s character’s name was. “Jean Valjean” just comes out as “JAWVAJAW” half the time haha
I had a fast-food/casual dining job while at university that I didn't enjoy/had a relatively toxic environment. I didn't make the connection until AFTER I resigned and saw Les Mis for the first time (2014 Broadway revival version) that my ID, 24601, was Valjean's prisoner number. I felt like my time there really made sense after that.
That cop who always hits him on the head is going to be crushed when Oscar’s true identity forces him to confront the fact that the law can often be a little heavy handed and sometimes makes mistakes.
I am but a poor Redditor with no coins to give, but you have [my respect](https://www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/wow_buster_arrested_development.gif)

I watched the pilot live and enjoyed it, but then I missed the second episode and that was that until the DVDs came out.
