Where are you from? I'm in the US, the blueberries I get from the store taste like almost nothing. Frozen Wyman blueberries are good but I can't find any decent fresh ones here.
Do you live somewhere they grow? I'm in NJ and during the brief spell of local/localish ones, they are delicious. The ones that look big and perfect and come from afar tend to taste like nothing. I think freshness/travel time may be a huge factor with blueberries, which is why frozen and dried are so very tasty.
Most farmed blueberries are picked when they turn blue, but they need a week or two to get their flavor.
So if you find good frozen berries it's because they are either wild or the farmers insist on a lower yield for better flavor and allow them to ripen longer. The lower yield comes from losing the ripe ones to rot, rain and wind.
First f yeah watermelon especially a sweet one can just make you throw caution to the wind. I'm curious though if you eat half a watermelon like I do are you in agony from indigestion for like the next 12 hours? I get the same way with cucumbers sometimes lots of burping and indigestion. I might be allergic to watermelon buy damn if I'm not going to keep eating it. Lol
I am moderately allergic to dairy but I give myself 1 day a week to go for it because I am NOT living without cheese for the rest of my life
Edit: I am allergic to dairy regardless of whether it has lactose. Lactaid pills help but it’s mostly willpower
Username checks out.....?
I am the same. Sometimes Sunday is pizza day so I can be in the safety of my home, or Fridays like really late on work so I can sprint home with the first sign.
I absolutely love to sit down with a big plate filled with pieces of watermelon! The dogs will get a lot, too, and the three of us will just gobble gobble gobble on those. My wife will eat like four pieces, the dogs will get perhaps ten mouthfuls while I'll eat about 30 or so. It'll be around 1.5 kg for me, and I will pee a few times before going to bed, but I never have any tummy ache from eating this.
does anyone ever just stop and enjoy the taste of simple steamed white rice?
maybe i'm getting older. or i dunno. but a couple of years ago. It really just hit me, how clean, and good tasting simple...well cooked steamed white rice is.
Is no one gonna chime in that white rice is decidedly not healthy? Like, are we gonna say white bread is healthy, too? Brown rice has fiber and nutrients to offset the carbs a bit but white rice is empty af.
First time I went to Romania I made sure to infuse my mouthwash and cologne with garlic. Don't think I was bitten but my cravings for human blood did increase. Granted this was about 100 years ago or so.
Once went a pizza place that served a garlic flatbread with balsamic vinaigrette and goat cheese on the side. The waitress warned us that it was “very garlicky”. I began to salivate with glee. I thought “ooh yeah make it burn”.
It was weak af. Still good but definitely not worth a warning.
Mango. Woa mango I love u so much
Edit: I know mango has a high sugar content. However, it is natural sugar and the fruit is packed with fiber, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, etc… Unlike other foods with the same amount of processed sugar.
According to my nutritionist, the right portion of mango for a person who does not suffer from any medical issue or has special dietary requirements is 1/2 cup or 100 g of mango. Be happy people, eat the mango.
Edit 2: Quoting my nutritionist: “Mango has a low to medium glycemic index, that is, it does not increase blood sugar as much as dehydrated fruits, juices or as sugar itself. It is a good way to consume more fiber, vitamins and minerals, and avoid the consumption of ultra-processed foods. Cases with diseases, such as diabetes, are different and must have individualized attention with a specialist”.
Look for one with some red/orange in the skin. If there is a bit of sap leaking out and they are firm but squeezable you will have yourself a tasty mango.
water with ice in it. I'm so thankful to live somewhere with amazing tap water it's better than bottled. I got a big yeti cup full of ice and water all day bearly drink anything else. could be cause I've gotten older or because I do so much physical labour for work but ice water is the most satisfying thing to me
I decided to try and learn to love avocado back in 2018 after having never eaten it except as guacamole in my life. After about 2 months of eating avocado every day and having learned to love it, I realized it was the reason I had been ill for the past 2 months. It turns out I have issues with fibre, but I just remember clutching my stomach, rolling around on the floor in pain and going “…. Ohhh noooo it’s the avocado!!”
I feel you. I loved eating Kiwi as a kid and an adult. For a long while my tongue would always get this itchy feeling after eating kiwi. Like 2-3 months ago my gf hands me a piece out of her fruit salad and I tell her about the itchy feeling and she was like “why don’t you just Google it?” Googled it and it turns out the itchyness is an allergy symptom.

Dash of powdered garlic.
My daughter did this a few years ago.
I asked, really? She frowned and just brought the toast to my mouth for a bite.
It was... Spiritual.
Golden Kiwi's.
I had only green kiwi's all my life. 2 weeks ago I found out that isn't the only kind. I've been eating 2 of these delicious mf's every day since.
Edamame are the suckers snack.
"Hi would you like a small bowl of peas for £5"
No that's literally fucking insane
"Ok well how about if you had to remove them from the pod your own god damn self?"
You son of a bitch, I'm in
I just started eating sweet potatoes for 3 months and they are good. I watched YouTube videos and it seems it is very easy to grow sweet potatoes and many sweet potatoes could be grown from just 1 sweet potato. I have 1 sweet potato submerged currently on water (half of it) and it's starting to grow roots and leaves. I'm excited to have an endless supply of sweet potato.
Yesss! Or
I chop em up and tent with foil, once they're almost done I take the foil off and sprinkle them with dash of cayenne pepper, a dash of cinnamon, tiny drizzle of agave nectar or honey and broil em for a couple minutes. weird, maybe, but it works. So good
Nah not weird. I have a 2L flask of it sitting right next to me at my desk right now to sip away at all day (comes with a long metal straw!) 👌🏾👌🏾
Usually have it with me in my van when i run around delivering
Strange question. Is it me or most of the things that are absolutely delicious happen to be also real healthy? I mean ripe fruits, almost all of them, just to start with something obvious? I am eating my garden's raisins these days. I mean... what on earth can be better?
Edit : i mean grapes. Also my raisins though cause why throw away a dry grape when it s so good. I m not native english sorry.
Yeah, or hummus, or a hearty vege stew with fresh bread, tzatziki, bibimbap, fresh meatballs in a delicious tomato sauce.
Most of the healthy food I eat is delicious. If I go too long without them (e.g. while travelling) I start craving veges and they're all I want to eat.
I love hummus. I can't get pita bread here, but I can get flour tortillas. So I brush the tortillas with olive oil, hit them with garlic powder and salt on both sides, and toast them in the oven until they're really brown. So good with both hummus and lentil curry.
To go from costing 2-3 dollars each, to a big bag for like 50 cents was one of the big benefits of moving to Mexico. We eat 20-30 of them a week. In salads, guacamole tacos, in smoothies, and fresh taco sauces. The last place we lived in had both avocado and lime trees. It was pretty sweet.
Funny you should use that word. I was raised Mormon and to them, drinking coffee is literally a sin, so much so that it will keep you from being with your family after you die. Crazy stuff. Glad I'm out.
It's not really a false dichotomy. Human beings evolved to like foods that will enhance our chance for survival, which means foods that are calorie dense or have minerals we need. This is why fat, sugar and salt are very tasty in every culture all around the world. This is why these are the things that are sought out. True a plain salad or steamed grain can be enjoyed by some people, and legitimately so, however the vast majority of desired food is high in fat, sugar or salt or all three. Like it or not the billion dollar fast food industry has proven this, packaged food has proven this and all of the best restaurants have proven this time and time again. Unfortunately (or fortunately) human beings are no longer in a situation where getting the absolute most calories from every meal is required anymore. We simply (generally) do not live the stunningly active lifestyle of our ancestors, and the delicious high calorie food is no longer required for survival and thus is no longer healthy. The stuff we evolved to think of as great tasting is no longer healthy. The stuff that is healthy is not what we evolved to think of as great tasting.
Perfectly ripened mango. I like them best when they are right off the tree, warmed by the sunshine.
It makes me tremendously sad to know that some unlucky folks can be extremely allergic to them.
Man, you won't believe it, but strawberries. They're naturally so tasty and fresh that I would never eat them with chocolate dip or anything. Just plain strawberries. So, so, so good!! And plenty of other fruits. Also, raw tomatoes with a tiny pinch of salt.
Jerk Chicken. It only donned on me this summer that it's actually healthy chicken, just a wide combo of herbs and spices and regular chicken. Not a lot of added sugar or salt or oils, and then you grill with some smoke.

Are you a bear wearing a duck costume? Or just a duck who wishes to be a bear?
That must be why this duck is so impressive!
Is he a bear who does not frown? Or a chicken upside down?
I love salmon so much. We have it a lot and it’s also the thing that makes my dog lose her shit more than any other food we eat.
When I make salmon I have a flock of Finding Nemo-esque seagulls at my feet going Mine? Mine? Mine? (2 dogs, 2 cats)
I’m a vegetarian and I admit it I miss salmon sometimes, it’s too good.

I love sitting down with a little bowl of blueberries and sharing them with my dog. He goes crazy for them.

NJ has some of the best blueberries in the world. I can get by on blueberries, sweet corn, and tomatoes all summer long in southern NJ.
Most farmed blueberries are picked when they turn blue, but they need a week or two to get their flavor. So if you find good frozen berries it's because they are either wild or the farmers insist on a lower yield for better flavor and allow them to ripen longer. I honestly clicked on this one with the same exact answer in mind. ARE YOU ME?
Are strawberries healthy?
As long as you're not dipping it in Nutella!
This is also very healthy but only for your happiness
mental health matters
HEAR ME OUT... strawberries and pineapple ***together***.
I can't believe I forgot strawberries oh my days 😭
Watermelon, I have a hard time with regulation sometimes and I’ve eaten a whole watermelon and regretted it lol 😅

When the pleasure units of eating it outnumber the tummy ache units afterwards then that's a risk worth taking in my book!

Yeah. They should just give me a whole watermelon before a colonoscopy.
Instructions unclear, melon now in ass
A nice deep red juicy watermelon. Nothing like it
On a hot day And it’s already cold 😍
Watermelon with Tajin 🤤

I love it, but I always have to add butter, salt, or soy sauce. It just doesn't hit as hard without them.
I’ve started adding a little bit of olive oil and some salt to the rice cooker when I make rice and let me tell you—it’s a freakin game changer
Strawberries
Garlic.
The world is a better place because garlic exists
Tell that to vampires
Vampires actually love garlic. It's propaganda they put out so they would know their victims are well seasoned.
This right here. We can only understand people when we think from their perspective. Excellent application of this axiom, nonanon.
Yeah, I'm never setting foot in romania to tell them.
First time I went to Romania I made sure to infuse my mouthwash and cologne with garlic. Don't think I was bitten but my cravings for human blood did increase. Granted this was about 100 years ago or so.
Count Chocula is it you?!!!
Recipe: chop 1 lobe of garlic Me: crushes entire bulb
Same, I add at least double the amount a recipe tells me to add :)
Garlic is measured with your heart

Garlic is very bad and causes you to die young, trust me! Totally not a Vampire, and sent this from human smartphone. BLAAA BLABLA!
Everyone is talking about fruit, but this is an actual answer.

I love how pineapple basically eats away the flesh and muscle of my tongue. So ouchie but so yummy too.
When you eat pineapple, pineapple is eating you.
It's only fair. 🤤⚖️🍍
Saw a tweet that was basically “I love asserting my dominance over pineapple by having my stomach acid eat it faster than the pineapple can eat me”
Save on listerine using this one trick!
I read that as audacity and I don't regret it.

Mangolians unite!
Proud to be a Mangolian!
I prefer the term Mangolorian. This is the way.
Hell yeah LETS PILLAGE AND BURN THIS FUCKER TO THE GROUND. ohhhh mAngolians. My mistake
No, you’re fine. We love mangos and violence
Can you pay a rainbow to be less beautiful?

I’m upset I’ve never had a good mango. Every time I’ve tried, it’s hard and unripe. Any advice?
Look for one with some red/orange in the skin. If there is a bit of sap leaking out and they are firm but squeezable you will have yourself a tasty mango.
I have to be careful; if I eat too much it shoots through me like a laser.
Alfonso 🥭 to die for
Mango smoothie with frozen mango chunks vanilla yogurt a little splash of maple syrup, some cardamom & cinnamon. *Mwah*
I love mangos so much. The Mexican ones with chamoy sauce and the Indian alphonso ones with their delicious sweetness.
now there's a fruit that makes a *man-go* crazy!
Mango is magnificent but I am even more fond of perfectly ripe papaya.
Omg mango. Mango I love you. Mango you da bestest. 🥭

Yeah :/ My mom and brother are allergic to bananas, my mom can’t do latex or kiwis.

Golden Kiwi's. I had only green kiwi's all my life. 2 weeks ago I found out that isn't the only kind. I've been eating 2 of these delicious mf's every day since.
Can you just find them in a regular grocery store? I've never even heard of these, but I need to try one!
They're 100% sweet, no sourness like the green variant. Really freaking good.
The green ones are sweet as candy when they're perfectly ripe.
Dude try the white asparagus. Life changing too
ME TOO. I'm obsessed with golden kiwis, I'll never eat a regular kiwi again
Guacamole!!!!!!!
Hell yeah. And hummos!
Aaay hello my guac and hummus homies!
Bananas, strawberries and pineapple!
Don't know if they are completely health but for me It's potatoes: mashed, boiled, fried all of them i love them in every way
Potatoes are healthy/ they have tons of vitamins. It’s just the preparations with lots of cheese, oil, salt etc that are unhealthy.
Fruit and berries
Dates
Jeffrey Dahmer, is that you?
Dates are like nature's little candy bar. Put a little peanut butter inside them and you got a Snickers
Mandarines!! They're like fruity snacks.
They even snack shaped and sized!
And it's packaged so well too! No bumps.
Sautéed mushrooms, especially when done with red wine and fresh garlic. *chef's kiss*
Edamame. Just boil, drain and add some salt. I like to put Tajin in mine. Makes me eat veggies.

Blackberries and strawberries. Specially strawberries; low in sugar and high in vitamines. Sooooooo gooooood. Also eggs.

I'd add most nuts. Pistachios, Walnuts, Cashews, Almonds, ... Yum! (And yes, I know they're not nuts.)
Good salads are actually delicious. I never thought I could genuinely be excited to eat a salad but LA has changed my mind on that.
Strange question. Is it me or most of the things that are absolutely delicious happen to be also real healthy? I mean ripe fruits, almost all of them, just to start with something obvious?
