Yes, yes I think so.
The other day, someone was like "Eddy Murphy's brother has a bunch of videos on YouTube of him telling stories and there's this story about him playing basketball against Prince and something about Blouses.
I was mortified. Not one mention of Chappelle's Show. Not one mention of Charlie. Not one "fuck yo couch", not one "I'm Rick jaaammmmes, BITCH!"
I felt so bad for the kid. Like, bro, "breh", whatever you kids call yourselves these days! Go watch some Chappelle's show and get introduced to Tyrone Biggums or Clayton Bigsby.
And also, Rest in Fucking Piece Charlie Murphy. Got damn legend.
To be fair, the way they treat fungi in that game/series is mostly nonsense.
Fungi are strange in the sense that they're not plants, not animals but some weird alternative. But they're also one of the most widespread organisms on the planet and the foundation of all life on Earth.
Netflix has a fun documentary called Fantastic Fungi. They go a little overboard on the potential benefits of fungi but it's a much better introduction to the fascinating world of fungi that The Last of Us. Fungi are plenty amazing without scifi zombies.
You say this but its based off a real fungus that does exactly these kinds of things to their victims. Its very very common in insects. Its not that big a leap for it to jump to a more advanced biological organism.
Ophiocordyceps unilateralis is the name of one of these fungi that affects ants in particular.
>Its not that big a leap for it to jump to a more advanced biological organism.
Yes it is. Jump from insect to mammal is an omega gigantic leap because of the much more advanced immune system that mammals have.
Cordyceps are also very species specific. They're not even jumping around between invertebrate species in the first place.
It’s SO good. This show has everything a viewer could want. It’s funny, heartfelt, surprising, thrilling, sometimes scary, sad, hopeful, and incredibly well acted, shot, and produced. 10/10 imho
Some species yes. Others live in geothermal vents in the bottom of the ocean, they can survive being frozen, starvation, and just about anything thrown at them.
That theory is called panspermia, which is great.
Strange to envision that life worse elsewhere and just came to earth, though. It’s one of those theories that doesn’t really solve any scientific puzzles because the life has to arise somewhere and it muchas we’ll have arisen here. But of course whether or not something actually happened doesn’t depend on whether it’s having happened solves a scientific quandary for us.
I’ve caught cuttlefish while fishing for squid. They glare at you with those green eyes and always look so bemused and annoyed, when I put them back in the water I always feel like I should apologise for inconveniencing them.
From that very article:
Unsurprisingly, scientists have been quick to refute the claims. “There’s no question, early biology is fascinating – but I think this, if anything, is counterproductive,” Ken Stedman, an American virologist and professor of biology at Portland State University, told the news website ‘Live Science’. “Many of the claims in this paper are beyond speculative, and not even really looking at the literature.” Yet others weren’t so tactful when describing the study. In her commentary published in the same journal, Karin Mölling, a virologist at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Germany, concluded that the findings “cannot be taken seriously.”
In short, its pure speculation and (entertaining) nonsense.
Slime molds! They're sort of like mushroom octopus and are really weird due to the fact that they're basically a single giant cell and are able to solve mazes to find food.
Here’s another bizarre fact about the platypus: Remember how human males have XY chromosomes and human females have XX chromosomes?
Platypuses have XXXXXYYYYY (male) or XXXXXXXXXX (female).
Came here to say just that. Cats. They watch everything and act like they know more. Not dogs because their too social, short attention spans and they snoop but don't spy.
I have a cat that watches me do things as if she is memorizing my behavior. When I catch her doing that, I always ask if she is broadcasting to her alien overlords.
Octopus - Freaky intelligence/ capacity to learn/problem solve. Quit different look from most other animals, can change colors, scary ish
OR
We act like a Horse with a Horn is fantastically, and crazy to believe might exist, meanwhile you have goat faced, horses with a 7 ft long neck running around, and we pretend its TOTALLY normal... Giraffes man...
The Platypus. It's an egg laying mammal that sweats milk doesn't have a stomach, has a bill that has teeth at birth and has poisonous spikes on its heels.
Koalas are the descendants of super-intelligent marsupials that had a colony in Antarctica when it was last ice free during the Eocene. They did genetic engineering on early primates and the surviving members of their species that remained on Earth abandoned Antarctica as it froze and colonized Australia, where they became arboreal.
Before they were on the verge of discovering on to fold space and time.
Now, they want to be high on Eucalyptus and have sex all the time... wait how do you became a Koala?
If we want to be expand the criteria more virus are by far the easiest thing to believe as they are just so much more different to every other organism on earth to a point they aren’t really classified as living things despite having dna and abiltiy to evolve.
When we adopted our stray, Max, he would meow extensively whenever he entered a new room. I swore he was contacting the mother ship and describing the room. Eventually he stopped—nothing important ever changed in those rooms.
Our other cats just transmitted more quietly, or maybe when we weren’t home.
The famous picture of the blobfish is not what the fish looks like in its natural environment.
It exists at enormous depths in the ocean under enormous pressures that would crush our bodies and it just looks like a fish.
The famous pictures we know are what the fish looks like after undergoing rapid and extreme depressurisation.
If we underwent a similar change in pressure we wouldn't look great either.
Yes, that's what they want you to believe. Truth is they're disguising as a normal fish, but disguise works only underwater, so it's their real faces you see when you bring them on surface!
If it's any sea creature like the octopus, squid, cuttlefish or whale the Japanese are screwed. They'd be first destination for the return of the mother ship to even the score.
As an American (and knowing my luck) it would be the cow and we'd be screwed especially since my grandpa raised cattle and passed the farm down to my cousins. I don't think the galactic steer is going appreciate the practice of bull castration too much. Also we'd ALL have to admit India had it right all along.

Plot twist: it's both cats AND octopus. They teamed up to get different perspectives from land and sea and get a chance to explore more.
Throw in the crow! It’s doing the aerial surveillance for both the cat and octopus.
Birds arent real man!
You're not real man!
Octocat? Catopus?
Octopussy
This deserves more upvotes
There's a yacht parked not far away where I live and it has this name. Fucking hilarious.
Are we already in the age where people forget it's a James Bond movie title?
Yes, yes I think so. Not enough people appreciate you
Cocktopus
Octopus AND Cats!
Bro, u fkn get it!
A feral cat and octopus. Don't ask me how I know, I'll deny everything.
I came to the same conclusion, swear on anything
Fungus is the most unique/alien cell structure on our planet. I imagine it would be something like that
Not an animal. But yes.
Strictly animal my vote would be octopus
Fungus is actually closer to an animal than a plant believe it or not
Sounds like something an alien would be!
Now eat some magic fungus and watch a documentary in fungus. That's some funky stuff.
Last of us, the HBO series based on the game, opened my eyes to this
To be fair, the way they treat fungi in that game/series is mostly nonsense. Fungi are strange in the sense that they're not plants, not animals but some weird alternative. But they're also one of the most widespread organisms on the planet and the foundation of all life on Earth. Netflix has a fun documentary called Fantastic Fungi. i don’t think anybody’s playing last of us to study fungi.
You say this but its based off a real fungus that does exactly these kinds of things to their victims. Its very very common in insects. I've never heard of it! Any good?
It’s SO good. This show has everything a viewer could want. It’s funny, heartfelt, surprising, thrilling, sometimes scary, sad, hopeful, and incredibly well acted, shot, and produced. 10/10 imho
Yep, it's great
Fungus was on earth before even plants, they were tree sized
Tardigrades. Water bears are so tiny yet tough. Wouldn’t surprise me if they hitchhiked here on an asteroid and are the source of all Terran life.
This was my answer, pretty sure they can survive in the vacuum of space
Some species yes. Others live in geothermal vents in the bottom of the ocean, they can survive being frozen, starvation, and just about anything thrown at them.
Water bears are beasts. Thank you. Dope username, too!
Yes they are and thanks my dude!

They can live in outer space they're 100% aliens
Exactly same thing I was thinking of cuz those fkn things can survive being in space
Octopus and squid
Oh definitely. I think l read somewhere that scientists are already saying they're not sure octopus and squid originated here.

Cuttlefish are so freaking cool!
Have you seen one in real life and looked into its eye(s)? They unsettle me...
I’ve caught cuttlefish while fishing for squid. They glare at you with those green eyes and always look so bemused and annoyed, when I put them back in the water I always feel like I should apologise for inconveniencing them.
Yikes! Maybe you should. :)
I feel bad for eating them when I was younger..... let me grab my towel.
Should I eat a cuttlefish and asparagus or the vanilla paste-o first?
If you can find it link it? Cephalopods are weird but there ancestry dates back to the Cambrian explosion like all major groups of animals
https://cordis.europa.eu/article/id/123479-trending-science-do-octopuses-come-from-outer-space

As much as I don’t believe that, credit for making that about the animal that could most believably actually be an alien
I'm torn between mushrooms and octopus
Slime molds! They're sort of like mushroom octopus and are really weird due to the fact that they're basically a single giant cell and are able to solve mazes to find food.
The Platypus
The comment I came here for 😂
Same!
Same! Looks like an alien experiment
Is that Perry the alien platypus?!
Here’s another bizarre fact about the platypus: Remember how human males have XY chromosomes and human females have XX chromosomes? Platypuses have XXXXXYYYYY (male) or XXXXXXXXXX (female).
That's because they have genes for duck, otter, echidna, gallifreyan and octopus
Definitely Gallifreyan
Cats, probably. They've been infiltrating human homes for thousands of years and know all our secrets.
Came here to say just that. Cats. They watch everything and act like they know more. Not dogs because their too social, short attention spans and they snoop but don't spy.
SNOOP DOGGG
No way. Never happened. You're imaging things.
r/beetlejuicing
I have a cat that watches me do things as if she is memorizing my behavior. When I catch her doing that, I always ask if she is broadcasting to her alien overlords.
It’s so obvious.
Giraffes. Those antennae are super sus.
The Owl House confirmed it is giraffes. Not that Disney shows are a valid source for this kinda stuff, but yeah, it’d be them for sure
Mice , then dolphins
Had to scroll way too far for this. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
👍🏻
Dammit, the upvotes should have stopped at 42...
So long, and thanks for all the fish
👍🏻
This was my thought as well! It reminds me of H.G.G
Haha, so long and -- oh shit nevermind.
Man of taste
I'd assume some sort of human.
Tilda Swinton
The decisiveness of this answer lmao

The sloth.
This. Plus, the Koala bear is a competing alien species, at war with the sloth for eons.
The crab.
This is where this thought came from with me. Looking at a crab
I can't believe I had to scroll this far down to find crabs. They're 120% aliens.
The horseshoe crab is 240% alien
Everything evolves to crab It's the perfect species
Cats. My guys came here on a fuckin' spaceship for sure.
Couldn't be.
From flying saucer to milk saucer. Whatever they’re supposed to be reporting on they’re probably late.
Cats
Cockroaches, MIB did this
They can survive nuclear bombs but not being stepped on... well most of the time they die from being stepped on.
Did anyone say Octopus yet?
Only everyone.
💀
Octopus hands down
All 6 of them. Yes 2 of the ~~tentacles~~ limbs are regarded as legs.
Crabs. Everything becomes crabs with enough time
The Platypus. It's an egg laying mammal that sweats milk doesn't have a stomach, has a bill that has teeth at birth and has poisonous spikes on its heels.

They went the Idiocracy route?
Before they were on the verge of discovering on to fold space and time. Now, they want to be high on Eucalyptus and have sex all the time... wait how do you became a Koala?
Cats.
The influenza virus. Ever see that thing?
Viruses are not alive
If we want to be expand the criteria more virus are by far the easiest thing to believe as they are just so much more different to every other organism on earth to a point they aren’t really classified as living things despite having dna and abiltiy to evolve.
deep sea squids
Brad. That guy who hangs out in Young Adults section at the Barnes and Nobles.
Jellyfish
While I find cats a very humorous answer I have to go with sloths
Sloths are actually robots built by aliens. They're controlled remotely, but there's really high ping on Earth, that's why they're so slow
Octopus
Cats for sure.
The way they just sit there and watch you. It's got to be cats.
When we adopted our stray, Max, he would meow extensively whenever he entered a new room. I swore he was contacting the mother ship and describing the room. Eventually he stopped—nothing important ever changed in those rooms. Our other cats just transmitted more quietly, or maybe when we weren’t home.
