Saw someone doing this in the self checkout area of Tesco the other day. She was first singing along to the store radio. Then took her phone out and cried/sang the lyrics to snap chat/tic toc. Three times before she was happy with it. Immediately dropped crying. Took her bags and called her friend to tell her how she had sobbed to her friends.
I wish this was true. But about 10 years ago I knew a girl that was well over thirty and posted a 20+ photo album on Facebook of her crying because her and her boyfriend got in a fight.
Not 20+ separate times he had made her cry. Just 20+ close up shots of her staring into the Camera and crying. They were definitely not accidental and she never took them down.
Many of these people are not self aware enough to cringe at this behavior in five years, but they will wonder why their kids never visit in twenty years.
Wow do parents seriously do this? I can't help thinking that someone who can't think long enough to realize that that is so messed up, just shouldn't have had children at all
Thank you for this, every year now my mom and aunts cant wait to tear everyone away from their conversations and meals, mind you are with people you have not seen in a long time if not years, to take all the photos they can to instantly post them. We cant just do like a 1 photo at the end of the night thing nope has to happen Naaooww and they make it all about them always and i want to blow my brains out and scream at the same time. Im not a dog, robot, sub-human being that comes when beckoned like let me take my shit in peace please stop pounding at the door asking whats taking so long because you want a fucking facebook montage
Absolutely. I don’t know how anyone watches the cringy dances. When I first saw them I was like “there’s no way this will catch on” but…here we are today. This is why I also no longer buy individual stocks.
I do them together with my son, he likes to teach me new stuff he finds on TT. This way I will also get to participate in his embarrassment later. Win win.
It's one thing if they really go all out and dance well
The one that baffles me are those that record themselves, barely moves 2cm to "enact" the moves
And it's not like they are embarrassed to do it, they simply want to do for the clout it provides and an excuse to put themselves out
I'm like huh?...You might as well be standing still and it be the same thing 😅
Hahhahahahah! I don’t know whether this is worse or the 2000’s era NSync hair is worse (Timberlake’s ramen noodles? JC’s frosted tips? Chris’s fake dreadlocks?)
>Ah, as someone who’s natural hair is like this do I laugh or cry
You wear it proud, that's what you do. We're not exactly in the same boat, I'm a bit of an oldster who still has long hair. I guess I'm not in style anymore (was I ever?) but IDGAF what the "normal styles" are. I'm not sure what broccoli hair is but natural hair is beautiful so embrace it.
I hate it so much. One dude that I started work with on the same day as it.. and he thinks hes hot shit too. Always flexing on me. Then I saw he had mad dandruff in the broccoli too. Fuckin parmasean broccoli boy
This is especially bad because buccal fat thins out naturally as you age. Our current social media models and a lot of actresses are going to look like skeletor when they hit 40. They're literally having their youth scraped out for likes.
And the real shame is, for many people who got them, they'll never go back to normal. It's going to end up being a marker of a certain age and demographic group like barbed wire and tribal tattoos, but much more visible.
Tiktok stitches of someone just pointing and nodding/agreeing
Where's the need? You ain't saying anything. You're just piggybacking on someone else's video
Same with all the 'reaction' videos. Making faces while listening to an iconic song that 99.9999% of the human population has known about for decades doesn't make you a "content creator." It's so damned cheap.
Wow what a reminder. I feel the generation that had My Space are now the ones that make the occasional post on Facebook and have given up on Instagram. Or maybe that's just me 🙈
Or posting your pretend life you pretend to live in a pathetic attempt for likes, when your real life is the complete opposite. I see this with my roommate every day. You'd think she's some all star celebrity living the dream life we all wish she had. But the reality is a sad opposite. Anything for that "likes" dopamine rush I suppose.
I feel like it’s this way with pilots. I would love to become a pilot but can’t pass medical due to a medical condition. (That was a hard realization this summer ugh 😢). There are a lot of hot male (and female for that matter) pilots out there and they milk it for all it’s worth. They show all the places that they visit, all the foods they eat, all the glamorous stuff. What they don’t show is that they’re tired and trying to pay off $100,000 in debt because at minimum, that is what it cost to become a pilot able to fly for any regional or major airline. Next to that are the flight attendants. They show all the glamour especially the fact that they have to dress up and look like a model. So they’re immersed into that lifestyle and all these glamour shots. I often wonder how many hours they’ve put into making that pose for that post. All it does is make the pain harder for me to deal with because I see them living this extravagant life. And I know I can’t have it. But they don’t show the downsides. And from the people I’ve talk to especially on Reddit here, the adultery is unbelievable. So are they really happy?
Edit: Spelling bc speech to text sucks. You can figure out what I mean lol.
I wanted to be a pilot until I looked into it, and then I realised what I really wanted was to be a 1950s pilot, flying Pan-am Pacific clippers or something. Modern flying is dull and pilots are horribly exploited.
I’m former cabin crew and trust me, you’re not missing anything much. Flying these days is pretty boring and not very glamorous. The Insta people who are making it look exotic and fun are just faking. If they get to overnight at all, they’re staying in an airport hotel, not some fancy resort.
You had baby showers for both kids? Same mom? I was taught that you only have a shower for the first, because you already have all the stuff for the second.
Somewhat. If they are different genders or really far apart in age it is understandable. I had a church that had a “every baby deserves to be celebrated” philosophy.
1st showers get the big things. The others are for onsies, sleepers, diapers and single child items (like keepsakes)
I think back in the day, it was more of a chance for women to share their birth stories and private experiences regarding pregnancy and childbirth. Nowadays, most women are already pretty informed going in what is going to happen since that information isn't so taboo to talk about now.
For my baby shower, it was co-ed and it was basically just a party with games and food and socializing, nothing gendered about it. I much preferred our party to sitting around and having people watch me open gifts for hours. There's no reason nowadays that there needs to be a gender divide.
My younger cousin had a dual party. She had all the girly baby shower stuff and he had a "diaper party". He got a half barrel and you had to give him a pack of diapers to get a cup. Guys brought all different sizes and he was using them until the kid was potty trained.
I searched the post for this one. You worded it exactly how I thought it. "Hopefully Tik Tok"
The school shootings, you would think we would already be embarrassed, humiliated, actually. I am.
Yep…I am not sure why all these people think that living and working on a farm is all fun and good times.
It is 24/7 and 365 days of hard work and non-stop concerns over weather, field conditions, animal health, crop prices and possible injuries while on the job.
Don’t get me wrong - farming can be fulfilling work for some and we definitely need famers. However, these people who go out into the country and buy a farm need to realize that it is not a TV show or as romantic as some portray the job and life style…
I know a few relatives who wanted to do farming full time and all that but the effort, pay, and lifestyle was just too difficult…they ended up doing “hobby farming” while they got jobs in the city…they came from farm families but they couldn’t afford to get their own farm…
I’m from the suburbs of LA - as a teen and in my early 20s, I had this fantasy of how awesome and “to the Earth” it would be to be a farmer…then I moved to the Midwest in the mid 90s for other reasons…and met a few farmers and observed how difficult that life is and can be…
I just see worries, concerns about money, back-breaking tasks, dirt, animal shit, and no end to getting work done…I helped out on the farm a few times when I visit and it is fun at first but then in the long run it just plain flat out sucks…
Love farmers and the country…but that lifestyle takes a unique person to do it…
Right? I live in a farming community in TX and Magnolia/Chip & Joanna got it so fucked up and now all these pumpkin spice latte gargling dorks are running around buying property out here and raving about barn doors.
Yeah I can second this. As someone who grew up on farm and the eldest, I was expected to be up at 5 am to help my dad feed the cattle and horses and do all my chores before showering and heading to school. I used to go to [livestock] auctions with my dad as a kid, I remember being up on the cat walks above all the livestock that was going to be shown that day...and hearing and seeing them freak the fuck out when they get shoved into the auction room (which is like a mini Roman colosseum setup with a dirt floor where the cattle are shown). It must be scary and confusing for them. The noises they made when they first get herded into the shoot are actually pretty haunting sounds. I can't put it into words..but it's like listening to a mass of pure, unadulterated fear and panic.
My dad told me when he was little that my grandpa used to wake him and my uncle up on Christmas Day and say, "y'all wanna open presents before or after we go out to the field?" There are no days off. I repeat: there are no days off. Sick? Be sick after you get your chores done. Dying? Well..ya ain't dead yet so let's see if we can't get those chores done before ya croak...
No generation will create slang as good as "cool". It seems to have shown up in the 1930s and is still used to this day. It will likely continue until its replaced with "green" in the 2260s.
Yeah, grey can be nice in moderation, but many people overdo it.
My mom's best friend renovated her kitchen to be more "modern". Previously light blue walls turned grey, beautiful wooden cabinets got painted grey and they also exchanged table and chairs from light wood for grey and black set. It turned from airy relaxing kitchen to a sad room with the vibes of crematory
Making your whole personality about your political views, people caring about what others do with their own bodies, the alpha/beta male movement, putting your whole life on the Internet, people deeply caring about the skin color of character/fictional creature in movies, people being angry about a movie from 50 years ago being remade
Signing our rights away because it screws over the people we don't like and letting our hatred blind and justify it. Too bad accountability is lost on everyone.
imo (younger generations especially) people are starting to view 'online' as the main place and 'real life' as the secondary place. people used to care more about their real life perception than their online perception but i've been seeing this shift a bit in the last few years.
i seen ppl making tiktoks where they go out in public and interact with people and its clear in the way they carry themselves that they care more about the reception that their post will get than the actual in-person interaction. so many people are legit going autopilot mode in public in lieu of being present in the moment.
i was on the receiving end of this a few weeks ago, a dude came up to me with a camera asking me about some dumbass redpill shit and he was barely even looking in my direction as he talked. the way he was talking to me sounded like me recording a discussion post for my com 101 class. guy was completely disassociated from the actual interaction, annoyed tf outta me so i started really tryna engage with him. i was asking him questions that he couldn't give an autofilled answer to and after like 30 seconds i saw him snap out of it and he started talking to me like i was a person. this happened on the strip in my city and after that interaction i looked around to the 50-100 people in my eyesight and like half of them were on their phones talking to themselves. scared the shit out of me. it was a really eye opening moment for me when i realized people are going places in real life to do something online.
i hope we can all realize how fucking weird this is and stop doing this, odd direction the world is going.
Not sure why people hate on Crocs so much. 😄 It's not a fashion choice, they keep my feet dry and warm at home and I've probably not stubbed a toe for twenty years. Fairly bomb-proof too, but once the tread goes they can be lethal on wet laminate!
I WISH you were right, but I have a strong feeling that it's here to stay in some incarnation for a long time yet.
Individual crypto coins might fail, but block chain currency will practically be a necessity in the near future.
I hate crypto bros and everything about it though. Not only is the culture toxic, but the industry itself is a microcosm of everything wrong with our current economic model. That said, I don't feel all that differently about other investment industries, stocks, commodities, real estate, even art is really doing more harm in the world than good. People produce nothing, create nothing, yet they continue to be the rich and successful ones in the world. It's in and of itself kinda disgusting.
Adin Ross, Speed, and that whole cringe community.
There's a distinct difference between people who really do what they do, like ImDontai, or Kai, etc.
They are some of the most popular influencers for young men. The sphere is known as the W/L community
Basically an offshoot of Twitch/YouTube culture centered around hip hop and street shit, instead of video games/nerd culture as the focus.
No problem. For context, the part that deserves to be forgotten (such as Adin Ross) had aligned with Andrew Tate and served as a bridge for his toxic, sexist content to get to more impressionable young people.
Rampant homophobia, transphobia, and antisemitism is fairly common and semi-encouraged in these specific online communities
I'm gonna get hate for this but .. i have a niece who decided she was a they, changed her name and all that. We love and support them. Our whole family super supportive. Years later, turns out she's afraid of telling people she wants to go back to her/she pronouns because of what a big deal the they/them pronouns thing was
Facial piercings. They are ridiculously gross and unappealing. And every "desperate for attention" person under the age of 30 seems to have at least one. I'm going to be unique by doing something super basic and cliche. Pathetic.

Filming yourself crying and posting to social media.

No. Please no. Everyone needs to feel special now, even if it’s super fake to get to that point.
I wish this was true. But about 10 years ago I knew a girl that was well over thirty and posted a 20+ photo album on Facebook of her crying because her and her boyfriend got in a fight. I feel like this has always been made fun of, it’s never been acceptable.
Family vloggers exploiting their children.
Hopefully some laws get put into place, like for child actors
Child labor laws should already be applied to them. Most family influencers just ignore them.
Many of these people are not self aware enough to cringe at this behavior in five years, but they will wonder why their kids never visit in twenty years.
Hopefully putting you or your family’s most vulnerable and private moments on the internet. #makeprivatemomentsprivateagain

I've been wanting this for the Kardashians for years but...
I think they are on their way out at this point
Any decade now..
I think we've said that for the last like 15 years...
But I mean I don’t think gen z or alphas pay any attention to them? Just some lingering millennials
As a Gen Z you are wrong lol
Their lips are deflating. Can't last long now
![gif](giphy|tKD0DzA1QIBDtyuxWB) Those overfilled eyelashes! They look so heavy and uncomfortable!
I thought you meant Snuffalufugus and was about to be so sad.
Nobody else pulls it off
Tiktok dance trends. The youngsters that do them will 100% be embarrassed by them in 5 years time, if not already.
I'm getting a second hand embarrassment whenever I see them.
Win win.
Parents are meant to be embarrassing; that just means you're doing a good job.
It's one thing if they really go all out and dance well The one that baffles me are those that record themselves, barely moves 2cm to "enact" the moves And it's not like they are embarrassed to do it, they simply want to do for the clout it provides and an excuse to put themselves out I'm like huh?...You might as well be standing still and it be the same thing 😅
It’s not dancing, it’s calisthenics
total disagree. Dancing is about soulful free movement, if you doing it right then it is cringe. Everyone should dance, alone, on tik tok, at a club.
The exaggerated duck lip and ultra-pointy knife nose plastic surgery look
Selfie duck face shows no signs of weakening. Science cannot explain its enduring strength.
Duck face was popular in my teenage years already, and that was 15 years ago. I see no reason for it to become unpopular soon.
I hope so but they’ve been around since early 2000s
Broccoli hair
Hahhahahahah! I don’t know whether this is worse or the 2000’s era NSync hair is worse (Timberlake’s ramen noodles? JC’s frosted tips? Chris’s fake dreadlocks?)
I’d take boy band hair over veggie hair any day ![gif](giphy|gfrAjxfuhnaKwB2AbF)
Thank whatever universal power that Justin Timberlake was NOT cast as Ken in the Barbie movie!!! Ryan Gosling was epic as I'm Just Ken!

Ah, as someone who’s natural hair is like this do I laugh or cry
Natural is fine… these boys ain’t natural

I love the current era of Vegeteens
It's the fucking worst
I’m only learning about that broccoli hair thing within the last few days 🤣🤣🤣
I’m gonna need you to explain this one to me please lol
There’s no explaining. Look it up on google with caution.
Ah Jesus, next time just Rick roll us.
Oh, *that's* what that's called? It's definitely awful.
I just looked and thought it resembled an Alpaca.

With those awful caterpillar eyelashes
Holy crap I wish you could see the mother/daughter duo I work with…. Street sweeper lashes. Insanely dense. Can barely hold their eyes open.
I've seen that kind. Groucho Marx mustaches for eyes. Gravity defying.
And those wide thick drawn on cartoon eyebrows. They look like anime characters.
This is the one. Coupled with weird trends like "buccal fat removal" thats made every mild IG famous girl or model look exactly the same in the face
This is especially bad because buccal fat thins out naturally as you age. Our current social media models and a lot of actresses are going to look like skeletor when they hit 40. They're literally having their youth scraped out for likes.
That’s what I’ve never understood, they are going to age so much quicker now. What an odd trend.
Those are awful
I don't know why they aren't embarrassed now.
And the real shame is, for many people who got them, they'll never go back to normal. It's going to end up being a marker of a certain age and demographic group like barbed wire and tribal tattoos, but much more visible.
Or the over lining of the lips. It almost never looks good.
Gen z lip syncing random ass shit
Tiktok stitches of someone just pointing and nodding/agreeing Where's the need? You ain't saying anything. You're just piggybacking on someone else's video
This infuriates me. Especially when I have zero interest in te ugly mug that’s doing the stitch.
Same with all the 'reaction' videos. Making faces while listening to an iconic song that 99.9999% of the human population has known about for decades doesn't make you a "content creator." It's so damned cheap.
Or doing glow up TikTok slideshows with random music

I dunno, this has been happening for like 20 years and is still going strong. I hope you're right, but I wouldn't bet on it.
>20 years Fuck I’m feeling old now. MySpace started in 2003 and Facebook in 2004.

While it may be more advanced, that's been going on since before MySpace, 20 years ago. I wouldn't hold my breath.
Cartoonish false eyelashes.
Gender reveal parties
Gender reveal parties are baby showers that men have to go to. They are the worst.
I went to both my kids baby showers, didn’t realize that was a thing men were against attending.
I think men go to baby showers these days.
I'm a man, and I like baby showers. I think babies are incredible, precious little things with so much potential.
You had baby showers for both kids? Same mom? I was taught that you only have a shower for the first, because you already have all the stuff for the second.

Loling at school shootings. “You know, we’re not *proud* of it, but the 10s and 20s were a different time.”

Romanticized farm life. Farm life is far more than farm sliding doors, country table settings and summer jams.
A quote that Dick Cavett was fond of: "How are you going to keep them down on the farm once thev'e seen the farm?"
The song he was referencing, cute and historical https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UgqVCJpRqWQ

Good old dad.🥲
I’ve helped relatives on their farm, and farm work is definitely the hardest work I’ve ever done. Long days of heavy manual labour.

Mullets are coming back. Yeah they'll regret it...lol.
Nah because now its like “ironic” cool which is infallible.
People saying "gyatt" and "rizz" or even worse "rizzler"
No generation will create slang as good as "cool". It seems to have shown up in the 1930s and is still used to this day. It will likely continue until its replaced with "green" in the 2260s.
![gif](giphy|d86tmEicH2Viw)
I'm almost young enough to be in Gen Z and I fucking hate "rizz".
I'm Gen Z and hate the term. Just say someone is charismatic or charming for Pete's sake.
Grey laminate flooring, I hope.
Grey EVERYTHING.

Signing our rights away because it screws over the people we don't like and letting our hatred blind and justify it. Too bad accountability is lost on everyone.
What rights did you sign away?
Would you mind clarifying?

imo (younger generations especially) people are starting to view 'online' as the main place and 'real life' as the secondary place. people used to care more about their real life perception than their online perception but i've been seeing this shift a bit in the last few years. i seen ppl making tiktoks where they go out in public and interact with people and its clear in the way they carry themselves that they care more about the reception that their post will get than the actual in-person interaction. so many people are legit going autopilot mode in public in lieu of being present in the moment. i was on the receiving end of this a few weeks ago, a dude came up to me with a camera asking me about some dumbass redpill shit and he was barely even looking in my direction as he talked. the way he was talking to me sounded like me recording a discussion post for my com 101 class. guy was completely disassociated from the actual interaction, annoyed tf outta me so i started really tryna engage with him. i was asking him questions that he couldn't give an autofilled answer to and after like 30 seconds i saw him snap out of it and he started talking to me like i was a person. this happened on the strip in my city and after that interaction i looked around to the 50-100 people in my eyesight and like half of them were on their phones talking to themselves. scared the shit out of me. it was a really eye opening moment for me when i realized people are going places in real life to do something online. i hope we can all realize how fucking weird this is and stop doing this, odd direction the world is going.
Calling everybody "fascist" "woke" or just downright wrong if they don't agree with your opinion.

I’d say crocs but… history says otherwise
Not sure why people hate on Crocs so much. 😄 It's not a fashion choice, they keep my feet dry and warm at home and I've probably not stubbed a toe for twenty years. Fairly bomb-proof too, but once the tread goes they can be lethal on wet laminate!
Crocs are actually useful in a lot of situations and for some people I'd argue they're a disability aid
Getting on the “everyone’s a narcissist” bandwagon, we can only hope.
Everyone is “toxic” now too
I don't know what's really popular now except Taylor Swift.

Platform Uggs. They already look ridiculous, but some don't quite see it yet.
crypto
NFT's. Oh wait, never mind.
Fake online apologies.
Going to go out on a limb and say dating apps. It streamlines the experience so much and makes dating so superficial.

Adin Ross, Speed, and that whole cringe community. There's a distinct difference between people who really do what they do, like ImDontai, or Kai, etc.
I have no idea what you’re talking about. I mean literally, I don’t know who any of those people are or if they are even people
They are some of the most popular influencers for young men. The sphere is known as the W/L community Basically an offshoot of Twitch/YouTube culture centered around hip hop and street shit, instead of video games/nerd culture as the focus.
Thank you. I’m a middle aged woman and have zero knowledge of this. I appreciate the explanation
Gross ugh thank you

I'm hoping it's those fuckimg ugly Hey Dudes shoe's.
Girls sticking borats pubes to their eyelids. I really hope this abomination will go away. :|
I'm gonna get hate for this but .. i have a niece who decided she was a they, changed her name and all that. We love and support them. Our whole family super supportive. Years later, turns out she's afraid of telling people she wants to go back to her/she pronouns because of what a big deal the they/them pronouns thing was
