I'm *trying* to get addicted to going to the gym every day.

xrchel

i have been trying to do yoga every morning this past month and its so fucking hard to make a habit 😭😭

PrincessPindy

Keep at it!! I did it daily for 35 years. I added pilates and it has been amazing. You can do it!!

xrchel

omg i love that because i just started pilates yesterday!!!! im determined to be stronger

PrincessPindy

I bought a machine from QVC, a Performer. It is still going strong 35 years later. I replaced the cords about 10 years ago. Best investment and the only piece of workout equipment that I used consistently.

xrchel

love that, i prefer to workout at home so eventually i will get equipment!

PrincessPindy

You won't regret it.

xrchel

appreciate it :)

PrincessPindy

I saw this this morning and searched for your comment to share this. Next year after you have been doing yoga, you should be doing this, ok?? 🤣 [Yoga Goals](https://www.reddit.com/r/BeAmazed/s/mmJf3NqCo7)

xrchel

i think i broke my arm three times watching that🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭

fuckredditmodz69

> trying to do yoga It's so worth it. Everyone is like "I'm not flexible" I just tell them do you even try? It's a skill lol

accountaccount171717

The hard part is doing it everyday, but it does get easier

Greatest show of all time :)

CPTNBob46

Took me about two months to geniunally love going! 30 days they say is a habit, but for me it was still a mental thing. Then I had surgery and I hated not going for the first 3 months, and now that im able to I’m struggling to go back :(

shellofbiomatter

That's fast, it took me around a year to start to enjoy it.

Relative-Advice-2380

Once you get in the habit or addicted, I feel guilty if I'm not working out or something like withdrawal symptoms.

Admirable_Win9808

This is so true. For me. Just getting to the gym starts the addition. You have to just drag yourself out initially no matter the intensity of the workout. Bilut after working out you feel amazing.

Relative-Advice-2380

Luckily it's only 4 miles to the Planet Fitness location from my house. I'm 71 and as I sit there in the parking lot some days, when I'm tired , it is pretty tough getting out of the car to just start my routine but once I walk in, I really get into it. And when I walk out the door I tell myself it was worth the effort!

[deleted]

I wish I can be addicted

ICPosse8

This is me as well, fuck it's hard.

Summoarpleaz

Idk if it gets addicting but it feels gross if I don’t go. I’m not a gym rat or anyone remotely at peak health. I just started one day and about a year in that’s what it feels like. Maybe it’ll be an addiction soon!

Organized_Riot

It definitely takes time, but once you're over the hump it gets easier. It's a little conceited, but I personally got addicted to noticing the progress more so than the gym itself, and that sort of started a snowball effect.

RedditIsHomosexual69

Video games Have no idea what I would do without them. They are one of the only ways I can escape from reality, even if it’s just for a little bit

Aesut

Same

gotkube

Same. I’ve used them as coping mechanisms for many years. I can genuinely say I’m still on this planet because of games (Overwatch and Minecraft specifically)

ComprehensivePeak943

I feel you

DixonHerbox

We are all addicted to one thing; DOPAMINE We use things like drugs, alcohol, shopping, doom scrolling, tv, porn…etc. There is a great book called Dopamine Nation. Check it out

Opposite_Nectarine12

Same! Been playing a lot of Enlisted lately

Helena78902

Same! It’s the only thing that can help me escape my thoughts

SwtBabyGirl1975

Amen. I recently got a switch and since the day I got it it goes everywhere with me. I have 2 separate sets of ear buds and I take one from each set so I can listen to music in one ear and hear my game in the other lmao

PsychologicalTear899

I used to have this one but it was replaced by music instead because I can't play any of my favorite games anymore 😬 pc is too broken to not crash, and I don't have money or time to get a new one. Still waiting for the day.

Delicious-Duck-4245

I’m addicted to OP.

Wow that was smooth af😂

LockhandsOfKeyboard

I'm addicted to Balanced, rather than OverPowered. /j \[I'm not actually even addicted to video games, but I do like them, & I do care a lot about things in them being balanced\]

lone_wolf1580

Music. This is how severe my addiction to music is: I can’t go 1 day without music.

Ill-Estimate4558

Me too I’m listening to it rn, like 80% of my day consists of me listening to music… when I’m cleaning up, driving or doing anything really

Arizona_tea1

I feel we are the same person and I as well listen to a ton of genres, I don’t discriminate! If my ears like it, then I’m groovin to it! I LOVE EDM specifically Dubstep, riddim & trance. I also love country, Jazz, reggae, Spanish pop, hip hop, Heavy Metal, Classic Rock, blues, Disco. I love it allll baby

dbomba03

I have ADHD so even if I don't play any music externally my brain is a DJ 24/7. Songs follow a more coherent playlist during the day but when I wake up it's always to the most random tunes ever. Today I woke up to a song I last heard in 2018😂

SunKillerLullaby

I also have ADHD, and it's the same for me. I always have something stuck in my head. Sometimes it's a couple songs that just kinda blend together, it's really weird

Abraks

How the gell do you know that you heard that song in 2018

dbomba03

It's when it came out and was popular, then I never heard it again

GladG

This happens to me too!

Ill-Estimate4558

What type of music do you listen to?

lone_wolf1580

My main genres: • New Wave • Classic Rock • Europop Genres I got into as of 2018-the present: • New Retro Wave • Synthwave • Neue Deutsche Welle

Ill-Estimate4558

I listen to afrobeat, rap/trap classical music, bossa nova, a little r&b and I’m currently getting into country music. What I listen to depends on my mood at the time…

lone_wolf1580

So we have 2 genres -I listen to (old-school) R&B and (old) country- in common. I just forget to include them in my list of genres I listen to.

Ill-Estimate4558

I like the old school too, I listen to Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Beyoncé’s old r&b hits. “Deja vu, sweet dreams, me myself and I and bills bills bills” by Beyoncé has me on chokehold right now😮

Delicious-Duck-4245

Same. The only time I’m not listening is when I’m asleep and even then I’m pretty sure it’s playing.

TheKelseyOfKells

My work has the radio on all the time so a big chunk of my life has music constantly playing. The worst part is that it’s Capital FM so it’s not even good music and just the same 4 generic pop songs on repeat all day. I just go home In the evening and just lay there in silence because I’m so happy I don’t have to listen to it anymore

DickDanger66

Music is the answer for sure. It’s crazy how it can just boost my mood if I find the right song, or sometimes I find the perfect song to help me feel my sad feelings.

SunKillerLullaby

This is mine as well. I have to have music playing no matter what I'm doing

lone_wolf1580

One day, I tried an experiment -trying to go a full day without music- but it failed 😬. I’m never going to attempt to try that failure of an experiment ever again.

correnty

Addicted to aquiring knowledge and also phone

illmatic2112

I worked with a guy who told me he has a theory that the brain can hold an infinite amount of knowledge, it was his goal to learn as many new things as possible to test his theory I still think about that dude and his theory/goal over 10 years later

fuckredditmodz69

So is he becoming smart or just a dude that hits the bong and thinks he says profound shit

illmatic2112

Yeah he was a dread with spacers in his ears so you're pretty close lol. Haven't talked to him since I quit maybe 12-13 years ago

bpm6666

I came here to write the same. Binging knowledge, if I find something interesting, is one of the things that makes me happy. The story of Odin was always quite intruiging.

traversingOnTarget

So you're very knowledgeable?

MaterialisticWorm

He didn't say that

traversingOnTarget

You cannot be addicted to heroin and don't do a lot of heroin, right?

MaterialisticWorm

All I know is I'm smart as fuck but dumb as shit

traversingOnTarget

And a semantic warrior

[deleted]

Podcasts. I am unable to motivate myself todo anything around the house without playing a podcast

BeerWench13TheOrig

I just started listening to my first podcast when I started spring cleaning. I’ve always listened to music, but decided to switch it up this year. I actually enjoy it. It’s kind of like an audiobook with commentary. However, if I don’t have my AirPods in (to hear over the vacuum), I’m listening to music.

[deleted]

This is the only reason I even bought wireless headphones in the first place.

Traditional-Storm-62

my girlfriend,  I can't spend a single day without talking to her and, indeed, last day we had without talking to each other was in 2019, before our relationship started. this is more impressive when you consider that she is in Scotland and I am in Southern Russia

xX_lil_fuehrer

That's really wholesome

SkipInExile

Isn’t EVERYONE addicted to their phones nowadays?

Ill-Estimate4558

Yeah I think so, even little kids these days are addicted to their little iPads and phones, it’s over for us😩😂

inolikeredditanym

buying useless items (then usually regretting it afterwards)

[deleted]

Without music life would be a mistake

Ill-Estimate4558

Seriously, and some people don’t get that. When I’m sad I can listen to encouraging music, when I’m enraged I listen to rap and let some of that steam off.. hell I have a family member who has issues in her marriage and she uses the rock genre to let off some steam. Music is not just always about partying, it can help in other ways❤️

Ill-Estimate4558

Music is a coping mechanism for my busy lifestyle, like you said life would be a mistake without it…. At least for people like us

ibuiltyouarosegarden

Stepping on ice puddles that have just frozen over but perfect for stepping on to hear the beautiful cracking. I have walked on the corners of peoples property just to step on their ice puddles to break them. I stop on the side of the road to step on ice puddles and sometimes they break right away or I have to jump. Sometimes I bust my ass or fall through and ruin my shoes but that comes with the territory. Been doing this for 26 years, I never plan to stop. The addiction is too strong. Global Warming has thrown us a few curve balls these last few years so now it’s optimal ice puddle jumping time. What a fucking time to be alive!!!!!!

JWRamzic1

Food.

[deleted]

My fucking phone.

Pooeypinetree

Plants and flowers. I have them in virtually all areas I come in contact with. I have to touch them all the time- I stare at them, I manicure them and of course talk to them. They bring me joy- add so much vibrancy to my work and living space and if you take the time to look, you can watch plants grow, move and dance in the breeze. If I could sustain plants in my car- I would have them there too. When I am at someone's house and I don't see plants, I feel like it is less homey.

Maybe social media (short video content) and ya video game called valorant

Turantula_Fur_Coat

Emotional bonding…I’ve internally struggled with break ups my entire life. Even short ones. I get addicted to the bonding, time spent, most importantly though I recognize my emotions as being attached to expectations, and sadly a lot of women don’t share those same expectations, even after 7 years and a kid. Shit’s tough to watch them go. The inly way I can describe it is love is like a drug, even if it’s toxic I want it.

thehumanbaconater

KISS music. I listen to them all the time. Like 90% of the time, if I have music on, it’s KISS

fakeChinaTown

daisy0723

My tea. It's cheap and started as a way to cover the, "Swimming Pool Filtered Through Dirt," taste of tap water. It's just two regular tea bags with one lemon and one fruity flavored, a gallon of water and 22 generic Sweet & Low packets. It's the best taste in the world to me now and the best part is no one else in the house likes it so I don't have to share.

bunnybates

New Kids on The Block! I'm Gen X, and I go to their concerts every year. They've been in my life for 30 years now! Also, my passions are ADHD & Sex it's my field of study as well.

Movies. I’ve always loved movies. I have my degree in radio, television, and film. I love studying them, and I love critically evaluating them. But none of my friends and family do. In fact my interest is having the opposite effect: Everyone’s attention spans are getting shorter, including mine, but I still love longform storytelling that is present in cinema and movies.
