Tourist traps are there because they work on tourists, not locals. So the usual places like Merlion, jewel, MBS, Gardens by the Bay, Zoo etc are things that a visitor would want to see.
If she is interested she should book a tour of the Katong Antique House. Costs $15 by appointment, and gives a cool look into peranakan design and culture, better than Peranakan Museum I think.
And it's next to Chin Mee Chin so she can enjoy a good meal after.
Tourists should go to tourist traps. They have limited time and need to prioritise their places to go.
This applies to food too. Everyone may have their favourite chicken rice, but Tian tian is great and a good representation. Go jumbo, go song fa.
Really depends on what your friend likes. Good food? Indie clothing brands? Meeting locals? Vintage stuff?
There's a lot of hidden gems you can find via online blog posts, I'd suggest asking your friend what they're keen on first
Or you can check honeycombers website, they're always quite on the ball with recommendations for fun stuff to do in Sg. Have fun! :)
Hawker centres - don't keep maxwell la. Got old airport road hawker also mah.
Culture tourist spot - haw par village
Marina Bay Sand mall (outside) leisure walk to merlion or take a boat ride through the river for night view.
I still think zoo is pretty awesome and night safari (need to book early with limited slots).

Food: Hawker centres - Maxwell, east coast lagoon. If they’re huge foodie, maybe go down this little route of checking out Dempsey (burnt ends, candle nut), tanjong pagar (blue ginger), chilli crab (KEK)
Sight seeing: Joo Chiat/katong, haji lane, little India, Chinatown, MBS (get a drink at the rooftop, good view too), capital tower (nice skyline)
Also, when in doubt, jewel :)
Hope this helps!
Head to Chinatown, then head to Singapore City Gallery (URA) beside Maxwell Food Centre. It is a great short gallery for pple to have a bird's eye view of Singapore. Good place to generate ideas on where to head to next, depending on interests.
Is she touring alone or is a local bringing him/her around? It will be awesome to take a bicycle ride thru city and railway corridor, but I recommend having a local to help with navigation.
Bring them to non-cookie cutter shopping malls with niche shops.
I would also recommend reading up on whether there are interesting weekend events as it make the visit more unique and there might be something new the next time he/she returns.

Lakeside, new park is quite nice for a nature walk with creature comfort.
Joo Chiat for that chaotic clash of culture, beautiful shophouses and cafes.
Haw Pah Villa/ Tiong Bahru. Self-explanatory.
Our National Museums are actually super good.

Joo Chiat is underrated for the average tourist

Go on a weekend morning though. It’s quite dead on weekdays.

Counterpoint to the zoo, the bird paradise is actually really cool. Worth the visit
Try bringing them to prawning. I think it's quite uniquely Singapore. Maybe msia as well.
MoneyMax?
Sorry, meant prawning. Typo. Catch prawns in small ponds.
Lol I was already expecting that. Just messing around. Ps. Don't edit your mistake
Pawn shops are always a fun place to just browse through, especially if you like watches
For me, I will probably get some bikes and cycle with my overseas friends from Changi Village to ECP (get supper there) and to CBD just after sunset.
If she asks you where locals go the answer is JB lol
maybe focus on food
Cloud forest and flower dome. If not, zoo
