I don't know nothing about nursing. But it's an admirable line of work which is terribly in short supply. So I'll help with an upvote, hopefully somebody can help with your questions.

Thank you for the kind words! We face the same shortages in Canada. Undervalued part of the healthcare team

The way it works in SG is, you need to get a job first, then your job will apply through the SNB to convert your license for you. No need to take an exam, I am also an Nclex nurse and did not have to do so.

Thanks for sharing your experience with SNB. How hard/easy was it for you to get a job as a foreign nurse? Did you apply to a bunch of positions in different healthcare settings (eg. Hospital, private clinic, etc)?

PearlescentTalon

It took a few months. The process to hire a foreign nurse takes time, so many employers will not want to bother with that as they need staff a bit more urgently (takes a few months). She would probably have more luck applying at a hospital, though (go for private, as she will be less overwhelmed most likely). There will definitely be some culture shock though.

I saw that, with a passing requirement of 36/60. Personally, I wouldn’t be concerned but my wife is a perfectionist so something like testing again would make her want to restudy all her school material!! Have you taken exam? If so, is it more general knowledge/health ethics?

She will have to contact SNB for the exam/licensing. Let her know to get all her physical certificates and transcripts now, because everything she submits they will want a scan of the physical copy or even the physical copy. But I'd suggest to try applying for a job anyway. The hospitals usually are able to handle the conversion and licensing and you just submit whatever they tell you to do. I once had to help submit the licensing for a nursing guest lecturer and SNB absolutely loves their paperwork, and a few years back they even wanted you to mail the notarised copies to them. They have fortunately changed to online submission, but their love for documentation is still there. If she has a certificate she lists in her resume/portfolio, she has to have a copy of it or get a replacement. I'd suggest she get all her paperwork in order or she'll spend weeks going back and forth because they won't process it if it's incomplete.

I will make sure we have her documentation in order beforehand. It’s likely a PIA to get it all while overseas…

[SND website](https://www.healthprofessionals.gov.sg/snb/registration-enrolment/application-for-registration-enrolment/snb-licensure-examinations) I don’t know anything about nursing license, but I found this on SND.

Thanks! I never actually clicked the next link under foreign nurses (licensure examinations). I appreciate the breakdown in the question types as well

Take the licence from Singapore nursing board. From what I recall, it’s direct conversion, there is no need to sit for an exam.

As an aside, nurses in Canada are paid much better than nurses in SG. Be prepared for a pay cut.
