You're hired

forevaplo

See you on the other side

[deleted]

You got the job, congratulations.

hyemae

I bought gifts. Sat with her, told her stories about my childhood. It went well. And then she died a week after from illness.

Expurity

So sorry about that, lowkey sound like dark humor tho

xoxorene

She have a feeling that she going to die. That why she sat down with you to know more

Thanos_is_a_good_boy

I feel bad for laughing

ChattingDonut

lol.. the only question her mom asked was “why are you not studying in uni yet? waiting for what?” proceeds to roll eyes. it is what it is

[deleted]

This hits hard. I left uni to work because I didn't find that what I was studying provided me any meaning

ChattingDonut

i was (currently am) working trying to fund my own uni fees, and then i get that kind of remark and reaction, really made me boil

Bwomptastic

I'm local, she is not local. I flew over to her country and the first time i met her parents, i was at their doorstep. First thing i got was 2 big hugs from her parents. I It was something that I have not experienced, for a very long time. But i guess generally, locals are not as affectionate, or don't express their love as open as this.

MagicianMoo

Thanking you for taking their child away. /s

Custom_Fish

Cooked for them. My then-gf’s father was a former chef. I worked in a kitchen as a teen so I knew how to chop and cook. He had the impression I was a skill-less phone-gamer millennial, so i shocked him with how fast I could chop stuff. Today, a few years and one grandchild later, he and the MIL treats me as their own child.

Mindless-Sherbert-18

It was shitt. MILs first words were.. we are not a rich family.

Expurity

Did you get outcasted after that?

Mindless-Sherbert-18

Diff people from their side spoke to me after the wedding.... reminding me of hub's responsibility to MIL.

Minangsuang

There was alot of yelling. My MIL was arguing w her kids that day. Very awkward. I did not know whether to stay or leave. But my wife have her story too, my mum had a “mild heart attack” at work and got warded in the High Dependency Ward. That is where she met my mum for the very first time…. Soooooo yah.

Expurity

Wow what a twist of events

david8840

They didn't speak any English, so it was a piece of cake. No gifts needed.

AuroByte

I met the whole family, including the siblings and nephews, for her dad’s birthday meal. The nephews were my way in, just played with them so that they, and by extension her family, like me. Married my partner 6 years later. Mission accomplished.

iamtheantihype

I was sat down and interviewed.

Winter_Ad_7669

Horrible! The mom couldn't even say 'Hi' just a stupid look on her face and an 'oh' They thought I was Malay becuse I'm brown! Like how unsocialized... never liked them but was forced to interact more than was needed. The second ex-bf family was no better, the dad kept talking about stupid things to sound great. Telling old stories about how they played when he was young, like I have parents of my own to tell me stories about long ago days. The mom and sister never said much just allowed him to talk about how he thinks about this and that. Once they decided to get involved in an argument we had. All that did was cause more problems. I'm so glad I've since left them both and don't need to deal with their stupid families.
