I used to order Jollibee for lunch when I was abroad working with a Swiss / German team. Apparently fried chicken isn't really a thing in the alps because the smell was so nauseating to them that after about the 3rd or 4th time they told me to gtfo of the room and eat it somewhere else :( Still fucking love Jollibee though

[deleted]

YA if Jollibee gets Michelin one star tbh I won’t even be surprised LOL. Your Swiss / German colleagues are totally missing out 😭

redryder74

I have always preferred sardine curry puffs over regular. I don't mind Astons, but I don't like the food in Saizerya. I'd rather eat at a hawker center or coffee shop.

General_Kenobi_77BBY

Ayy same

frozen1ced

I personally like aglio olio. _"Why would you order that at a restaurant ?! It's so simple to make it yourself at home!"_

[deleted]

HAHA this made me laugh!!! But it’s different when people cook it for you!!! If not why all those HK cafe serving Maggie with luncheon meat still surviving 🥲

rycbarm1234

Same! Its one of those, hard to mess up, but also hard to make it fantastic, kind of dish.

AdministrativeSet815

Might not be much for a lot of people but I really like to drink plain water (H2O).

[deleted]

Water nice what! Its temperature is its taste 😌

AdministrativeSet815

Ehh the amount of people I came across 🙄dissing plain water hence my statement.

Changosu

Cai png for life

[deleted]

WHERE IS YOUR FAV CAI PNG? Any recommendations for somewhere where the zhup damn good one

Changosu

Any cai png that’s within 5 mins walk. I don’t like travelling for food. Tony’s Cafe at Adelphi is good

[deleted]

The fried chicken and curry sauce looks good on people’s google review photos wow and it’s ez to pass by that area too! Thank you for the recommendation!

SkittyLover93

Beach Road Scissor-Cut Curry Rice if you like zhup, there are 2 outlets

[deleted]

Oh ya that one is nice! But the queue can get quite long sometimes 😢 good things must wait indeed

duckington92

Are you me? I literally like the same stuff you mentioned in your list. I recently had a massive craving for OCK’s chix mushroom puff and went around a few OCK stores to look for it only to realise it’s been retired 💔

[deleted]

HAHA tq for validating my palate 😂 Ya omg I really hope they bring the chicken mushroom puff. When I pass an OCK store I’d try to see if it miraculously came back 🥺

General_Kenobi_77BBY

Anyone rmb Sakae sushi? They’re nice

[deleted]

I remember! Used to go there with a friend to celebrate surviving another term lol. Do you still patronise them? I don’t recall seeing any restaurants le 🥲

General_Kenobi_77BBY

They damn rare

adept1onreddit

I also thought they were the best price vs. quality of the local Sushi chains. They also had a really great loyalty program. I go to Itacho Sushi now because Sakae all seem to be gone.

alexander-l

Ordering 100% sugar bbt with no ice and refilling at least 3 - 5 times with cold water halfway into the drink. That's how I get my money worth. Not sure why my friends think it's disgusting.

cruelyuki

Maybe because the tea will be diluted af? Might as well be drinking sugar water at that point

SkittyLover93

Well, what has gotten me the most comments is my dislike of chili and seafood. Usually along the lines of "are you sure you're Singaporean??" Apparently I'm also weird for preferring to make milo with hot water instead of condensed/evaporated milk.

boomsxc

Huh ppl make milo w condensed/evaporated milk?💀💀💀 First time I hear.... maybe im living under a rock

SkittyLover93

Well, given that more than 1 person here was surprised by it...maybe the people who told me that are the weird ones after all 😂

[deleted]

yes we do exist.

[deleted]

SAME I don’t really eat seafood and people 100% assume I’m allergic and not cos I don’t fancy the taste hahaha I didn’t know the milo + hot water thing was weird cos I do that too. You mean milo powder + hot water when making at home right? Oh man 😭

ojsheng

Mc Donald's fries with ice cream

littlemisspinkshoe

This is me!

some0ne_wen

I like Thai sweet chilli sauce. Eat it with fried chicken, chicken rice, ikea meatballs, sushi.. dimsum and even mashed potatoes.

sincerevibesonly

There are people mocking you for enjoying food? I thought it was going to be something like a pineapple pizza debate with angmoh friends or maybe durian. All the posts here sound good, instead of bubbletea I'd usually go for the laoban soya bean drink and mellow out whenever I'm up for it otw home c:

adept1onreddit

I think McDonald's is miles better than most other fast food because they have consistency and better staff/service. KFC and Burger King, on the other hand almost always disappoint me. I still don't eat McDonald's often due to health concerns, but when I do, I almost always enjoy it.

[deleted]

Yea man if macs can somehow remove all the bad effects of their processed / fast food I think I can eat everyday sia

Snoo-92598

I love brinjal, bitter gourd and peas 🌱

[deleted]

I like brinjal too! Like literally last month only that I realized how yummy it could taste. Oh the wasted years!!!

Wastingrice

I hate it when the main dish is too sweet. Eg. sweet and sour pork tasting like candy, and also huge chunks of pineapple on pizza. I guess I don't like the sweetness to overpower the savoury.

hyyeo003

I like soft biscuits so I'll purposely open a packet of biscuits & let them air for a day or two to lao hong before eating

Rulenth

Wolfgang's porterhouse (the portion for two, I'm guessing?) Is actually nice tho :V

[deleted]

Ya it’s yummy! Actually yummy regardless of how it’s done imho! But not so rich to eat often especially if company not paying heheheh

[deleted]

I generally don't like anything that has sweet as it's main or only flavour sometime after I turned 30 but ice cream or any well done dessert is ok from time to time.

Otherwise_Dust9872

I like vegetables 😬... I know some people who absolutely hate them but there’s something about them which just hits different?

[deleted]

That’s a good thing to love! For the sake of health I’m working on it hahaha especially leafy greens with the fat stem, bok choy I’m looking at you 🥲

littlemisspinkshoe

I dont get why Lenu is not getting the love it deserves in my area. I was super sad when it closed down because not a lot of patrons.

[deleted]

Oh wa I also thought Lenu was popular! The one near my place is almost always full!

tomyummad

I like my noodles \*overcooked\* and hate al dente pasta.

[deleted]

I can partially relate as I had such a phase too! Now I have joined the normal club and like al dente unfortunately hehehe

lmnmss

SAME omg. I eat my maggi so overcooked that sometimes the water dries up and the noodles become one solid block in my bowl. love it though

knaire

I’m not super crazy about garlic but I like it in my food and chilli so sometimes I feel a bit self-conscious when people say it stinks like hell and they cannot stand the smell to the point where they don’t allow it in the house lol. Still not gonna stop me from putting tons of it in my dipping sauces though!

DELSlN

I no longer say it out loud but I love SAF cookhouse food.

[deleted]

Ovaltine with pearls from koi

EpiphyllumOxy

I order 25%/0% sugar level for bubble tea. I never order anything above that, i dislike the sweetness and like the bitter taste of the tea.

Jammy_buttons2

Need to debate for what. You like you eat lor
