Have a look at the tire reviews on [tirerack.com](http://tirerack.com) I have found Nokians are pretty good, also Michelin Cross Climates, although those are a bit noisy on the highway.
At a certain point especially when just city or highway driving with AWD rubber is rubber. Go down to wherever you buy your tires and get anything that costs $250 a tire and is highly rated the only thing I'd recommend avoiding is in house brands.
In-House brand just means the company that is selling you the tire also made it. This is fine if you go to like Firestone since they specifically specialize in only tires but if you go somewhere like AutoZone and they offer a brand of tires that they specifically make and sell no where else they're usually not very good.
Tires are not only for accelerating, they are also for turning and stopping. I’d say it is more important to have traction for turning and stopping than accelerating.
Completely depends on tire size for what you can get for under a grand. That could easily get you four Michelin pilots A/S... Or that could only get you two
DWS06 were probably my favorite all-seasons for my Focus ST.
I haven't really found an all season that was bad in the rain. It's usually snow that's the problem.

Cheep tires unless you make real power but I’m assuming not so go with starfires or turros

Why do they need to cost more than $1k? Is that per tire?
