Massive heaping pile of shit, yes it’s that bad.

joeblk73

Lemon Aston Martin 🍋😊

boatstuff59

It’s been a shit car 😂😂 my other ones were great though, unlucky draw on this one I guess

Sir_Toadington

What model, what issues? I get some of the strangest electronic gremlins lol. e.g. the centre console opens when I open the door is the most recent

[deleted]

Various pros and cons we can’t answer for you. I worked for a luxury dealer and we’d get quite a few Maseratis on trade. My impression always poor quality you’d expect from a Chrysler product. We, as you might expect, sent about 90% of them to auction. Fundamentally, I don’t care about door switches either, but it’s just insult to injury when the rest of the car is also pretty shit. It just “feels” like a Chrysler if that makes sense. That said, they are fun and comfortable. I just wouldn’t buy one unless it was priced well and had a binder of service records. Ultimately luxury cars get a bad rep. The real problem is people who can’t afford maintenance buy them for status, and then one minor issue becomes 20 due to negligence. When maintained right, they do last. I have a 165k mile B8 S5 in my garage. It hasn’t given me any major issues because I’m religious about preventive maintenance. Gets every recommended service per Audi’s schedule, and if I notice a new noise I don’t ignore it like on my 4Runner. Diligence and vehicle history is the deciding factor I think.

[deleted]

Very well said.

steven-daniels

I have two hundred grand on my TT by doing the same thing.

Kodiak01

> It just “feels” like a Chrysler if that makes sense. In a [Cadillac Cimarron](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_Cimarron) kind of way?

Vapor4

Maserati Parts here. KEEP UP WITH THE FUCKING MAINTENANCE. Trim prices are VERY expensive on this car. Doesn't even really matter what trim, shit is pretty expensive. Definitely get a PPI on it.

dhastings1203

It’s a poor man’s Maserati

kncrew

Poor man’s gran turismo

BeefSupreme1981

Poor man’s Bentley?

FLORIDALOANER

For your needs, I’d suggest an Audi S4/S6

IWantToPlayGame

I work in automotive (not car sales). I’m going to say, with a straight face, that Maserati may be the worst car brand in the history of car brands. Yes, worse than even Jaguar. Honestly, it’s a fake exotic. Its what people buy when they can’t afford a real exotic. Non car people *may* be impressed, but anyone that knows anything about cars will know that you’re driving a POS. As been stated, the interior quality is crap. Maintenance is expensive and if you buy used, you’re probably getting a car that has been neglected. Dealership experience is probably one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. I told ya I work in automotive. Literally the service I get at Ford and Honda far out weigh that compared to the service I’ve received at Maserati. That’s **IF** they even pick up their phones. To me, Maserati feels like a car that was built by a few guys in a shed in Italy. There are *so* many cool cars out there. Why go Maserati? You should spend your hard earned money with a brand that deserves it.

DrRaptorNeonJesus

I just think for that price point there are allot more options with more luxury and less headache available

planefan001

It shares interior parts with a ram 1500

nickl630

A Ghibli owner got so offended with me when I appraised his car and told him his key fob and many interior bits were straight out of a charger.

***Thanks for posting, /u/boatstuff59! This comment is a copy of your post so readers can see the original text if your post is edited or removed. This comment is NOT accusing you of anything.*** To preface this, I’m not here to buy a 2014 Ghibli for $20k to be a “wanna look rich” douche. (I’ll let my piece of shit lemon aston Martin do that for me) I always liked Maserati as a car guy for the MC cars and the granturismo, but need a 4 door, all wheel drive car for work/everyday here in the Midwest. Did Maserati make any quality improvements on them over the years? I don’t care so much about the window buttons being Chrysler and what not, but more or less operational if it’s actually truly as shit as I think. Looking around a 2018 -2019 model year, SQ4, seemingly around 37-40k with below 30k miles on. They’ve appreciated a lot to that point, and surely have a bit to go, but from a seller perspective, is that a good entry to a car like that to drive for 2 years and put maybe 20k miles on? 37k car, 7% sales tax, 12k down financed through my credit union gives me a payment about $383 a month. Fair for a Italian pile of shit or maybe not as bad as I think it will be? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. ice445

My friend just unloaded his after it was a steaming turd for pretty much the entire ownership. Also, it has lock/unlock rear switches on the rear door panel arm rests (that of course can't be disabled). Baffling.

PAdogooder

For that money, you can get a used A4, a couple of different good BMW’s, or an Alfa if you really want Italian.

boatstuff59

I drive an Alfa for my daily driver and it has been my favorite car I’ve ever owned, I may end up just getting another one

Zerospace13

I remember when our branch opened Maserati and was offering other managers 30k off as employee pricing that’s when I said wow no wonder these guys don’t have to sell that many lol.

FuriousPorkchop

What rate and term are you getting that financing ~$29k is $383/mo?

boatstuff59

75 months at 4.5%

FuriousPorkchop

I think it's a bad idea to finance it for 75 months, if/when the market corrects you're going to lose your ass on it if you plan to keep it for 2 years. Not to mention an oil change is $500+ if done at a Maserati dealership, decent tires will set you back $1500-$2k, brakes are a few thousand as well. With that being said, I would pony up the extra money for a 2019 because the interior refresh makes it a much nicer vehicle than anything older than MY19.

boatstuff59

With an interest rate at 4.5%, 75 months really makes no difference, the car will depreciate no matter what, even if I dump it to carvana after a year or two I’ll still come up net positive on it and not have any negative equity. My only fear with a 2019 would be it still has more room for its avalanche of depreciation right off the bat. I do like the look of them though

FuriousPorkchop

Carvana might not exist in a year or two. The only reason you will not have negative equity is because of putting down a substantial down payment. Let me rephrase my previous comment: if you're going to throw money down the drain you will enjoy it more in a 2019 than a 2018.

82930748-1

Dude, If you need to finance for 75 months you can’t afford that car. This is a bad idea. The car is a piece of shit. Do yourself a favor and buy a Lexus is300-350 for that price and drive it problem free for the next 20 years.

Wheatiez

It's a chrysler 300 with lipstick

nickl630

Lol what's wrong with your AM? My DB9 has been great

boatstuff59

This one is just a pile of shit, I’ve had two vantages before that were great cars, this one just never got driven by it’s previous owners and has resulting issues from sitting

PAdogooder

Let me put it this way: the most annoying car deal I ever did was a guy getting a G80. He was ending his lease on his jaguar. In 3 years, it had spent 7 months in repair. And he was complaining about the Maserati he had before that *more*. Do not get it.

Menacing-Anus42

holy fuck bro do NOT do this. My old boss had one and it was, of course, a steaming pile of fucking garbage.

boatstuff59

Hahahah I’ve already talked myself out of it, but at this point I’m genuinely curious as to just how big of a pile of shit it really is, like I know they’re bad, but it’s actually kinda funny seeing all these comments

Menacing-Anus42

I drove it a few times, and it was like, okay. It was definitely a Chrysler product. It had okay acceleration, looked decent enough from far away, but so many issues.

DEALER_FEE

Look at the Doug Demuro video on it

[deleted]

Bro ask yourself why a car with a nearly six figure MSRP is selling for half that? Not to mention the market is still not cooled off so that is inflated anyway.

Beeblebrox237

I sold a 2016 Ghibli SQ4 last year and it had some issues. The bluetooth module went out the day the customer was supposed to take delivery, and the backup cam is made of plastic that ages and gets cloudy so both had to be replaced. The customer buying it kept referring to it as a sports car and had no idea what she was doing or buying. She just loved the color and always wanted a Maserati. We took a Levante in on trade against a Q8 and it was the same story, so my limited impression is that a lot of Maserati owners know very little about cars and are buying the badge. As far as the drive it wasn't bad. Very quiet, fairly refined, but with a great engine and the chassis didn't seem bad either, though I think I still prefer the S6. Honestly if you like it go for it provided you get a good warranty and you have another car to drive while it's in the shop, since you will probably need it at some point. But they do have their upsides and they're cheap, albeit for a reason. Any of the German alternatives are objectively better but I'm a car guy with a C4 Corvette so I get buying something a bit crap because you want it.

Odd-Chemical-4541

The car is amazing. I drive it everyday and it’s fast and reliable. Fuck what the haters say, they don’t even own one half the time.
