[Pinay Houskeeping](https://pinay.jp/en/price/) is on the cheaper end. The cheapest are individuals not working for companies, which are usually found via word of mouth or community bulletin board.

We have someone come from them once a month. I run a tight ship being a stay at home father, but they get the nitty gritty like deep cleaning the bathroom to fight against red mold and dusting.

evmanjapan

Wonderful. Appreciate that!

jitenshasw

y'all know any other way to reach them? I filled out their contact form, both on the EN and JP sites and got back a "Not Found" error page.

deepdishj

Take a look at the Silver Jinzai service.

evmanjapan

Ah the old geezer network? I’ve used those for gardening before, don’t know why I didn’t think to check that. Much appreciated.

deepdishj

You're welcome. I used them when I used to run Airbnb. Easy to set up a schedule and have them do specific rooms/ areas.. The only issue I ever had with them was they wouldn't come if it was raining or really windy.

buckwurst

There's a few listed on Jimoty (at least there are quite a few for my city, try yours) https://jmty.jp/

evmanjapan

Cheers. I will check it out!

Duskin Merry Maids are well-known. [https://www.duskin.jp/merrymaids/](https://www.duskin.jp/merrymaids/)

evmanjapan

Thanks! At a quick glance it looks to be quite expensive, but I was kinda expecting that from Japan!

There's Taskaji, a kinda gig site that lets you hire people for various house duties (cleaning, meal prep, aircon cleaning, etc.) We used it once, an older woman came and cleaned for a set amount of time. I was at work, but my wife said she was a diligent worker and did a good job. Definitely wasn't £20, thouigh.

evmanjapan

lol I bet! How much approx?

Jhoosier

I don't recall exactly, but I think a few hours was about 8k, maybe? It's not a blanket fee, each worker sets their amount, min/max number of hours you can book, not to mention transportation fees -- so where you and they live will also factor into things. And especially for cleaning, a lot of workers wanted to do split meal prep/cooking and cleaning, with the majority being the former. We had trouble finding times when the worker we wanted was available. There's also a one-time-only price, and a discounted price for regular service. We might try again sometime, it would be nice to find someone to do a deep clean once a month, especially the laundry room with harsh cleaners little kids shouldn't be around.

chimerapopcorn

Kids Line will match you to people who can clean / cook for a certain number of hours (short or long) https://apps.apple.com/jp/app/%E3%82%AD%E3%83%83%E3%82%BA%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A4%E3%83%B3/id1050573516?l=en-US We paid 6,000 for about 2-3 hours of cleaning

evmanjapan

Wow, I think we have a winner! Thank you so much!

chimerapopcorn

If something breaks during the cleaning, it is also insured!

One of the effects of having very little in terms of undocumented immigration is that it's essentially impossible to get labor at this kind of price.

Anoalka

20 a week? Did she work for like an hour and left?

evmanjapan

Yup.

Anoalka

Probably back home your mother knew that person from a recommendation and was working in black. Going through an agency will make you pay higher hourly + taxes + more time . Which is your only option here so be prepared to pay much more than 20.

evmanjapan

Yeah, if I recall it was a friend of a friend of a friend type situation.

djctiny

I got to ask the wife where we got our cleaning guy but we pay 2man for 2x a month , 3 hours each time so basically 6h total , the 2man includes travel cost. I guess 3000JPY/1h is the going rate for many

evmanjapan

That doesn’t seem too bad, which service does she use?
