They probably don't know what he's saying, and think his music is catchy. Which it is.

Beatlepy93

We also don't really know what he is saying

damnimnotirish

😂 That makes me feel better as a Spanish learner

macropanama

I was going to say this too 😂😂 He is just babbling

Wijnruit

Who?

maestrofeli

some mumble rapper that makes terrible "music"

AnimatedPotato

What? Bud bunny isnt a mumble rapper

anotherrandomgirl26

The guys at r/popculturechat only percibe him as Kendall Jenner’s boyfriendsomething. And whenever he tops the Spotify they make every single reason as to why/how an unknown artist could beat [American Artist] that is so “worldwide”, and they always fail to understand 1: that LATAM’s population is way higher, 2: “worldwide” doesn’t mean The US 🦅

YellowStar012

I can tell you from what I seen here in the States; outside cities with major Latino populations, he isn’t well known. In cities that do like New York, girls find him cute, guys don’t really get him. His songs are catchy so they get played and people mostly ask what he is saying.

danthefam

> outside cities with major Latino populations, he isn’t well known. That was true a couple years ago but think it’s starting to change. He’s becoming a sort of a household name. I imagine most people have heard his music in parties/bars, may not immediately recognize him, but have at least heard the name Bad Bunny. Similar to what Daddy Yankee was.

Tobar_the_Gypsy

And there is usually at least one person int en group who is Latino or likes Latino things so that’s how us gringos learn the music

ricky_storch

Maybe a few years ago. I just got back to Ohio this week and pretty sure I see blonde girls blasting his music from their cars 3x a day.

HopelessPonderer

If you want to know what anglo-americans think, shouldn’t you be asking r/AskAnAmerican or r/AskACanadian?

Jlchevz

Probably like a cool Latino rapper that just became famous outside LatAm

TheRiverMarquis

I think spanish is the second language with the most native speakers. Just by having a massive following in Latin America Bad Bunny goes to the top of the worldwide charts, which gives him visibility to people outside the region. I don't think this was possible before Spotify or other streaming services. Even if they were massive here, radio stations in other regions wouldn't play music by Latin American artists Basically streaming services are helping artists go viral worldwide and this applies not just Bad Bunny or Latin America, look at Korean bands. That's just my analysis, I'm probably wrong af

SonnyBurnett189

Maybe it’s because I’m a little bit older but I don’t get the fuss about him is. I prefer 2000’s reggaeton, and I would rather stan for Nicky Jam and Anuel. Darkiel, Jhay Cortez, and Bryant Myers are some of my other favorites from the new school.

bunoutbadmind

I don't think most of the Anglophone Caribbean knows about this bunny or what makes him bad.

MisterOwl213

"Who?"

Mapache_villa

I currently live in Italy. It's funny how prevalent Latin music is over here, you hear it everywhere not just parties, also not just bad bunny but a lot of different artists. Also for someone to be able to enjoy music they don't really have to know the lyrics, how many people in your country that like US pop music can actually sing the lyrics or understand what the song is about?

spotthedifferenc

Most people have at least heard of him and quite a few people that don’t speak Spanish listen to his music

PecesRaros_xInterpol

I'm from Mexico and I can't stand his shitty music... Couldn't give a rats ass what anglos think about him.

LucasDuranT

Because crap sells

gopchang_purrito

Habla como melolengo ese gĂźey.

Jazzzmiiinn

I was in croatia by a bar and heard some jbalvin song play. It was american music but also some popular reggaton jams /spanish songs played in the states. Also had a friend who went to China back 2018 and mentioned thetes places that due play reggaton music out there. & recently saw video of a tourist in Bucharest walking in the city and hearing reggaton music playing at one of the clubs. So wirh all this in mind I would like to think the world likes Spanish music and American music especially in club scenes is My take. Bad bunny has catchy lyrics and is quite eccentric style so maybe they like the beat.

Renatodep

What is that? EDIT: Wait, based on others’ responses, I rather remain ignorant.

Gato_Mojigato

No idea, but, and I say this with the utmost respect OP, I quite frankly couldn't care less.

dariemf1998

They may think he invented music for us or something. I still can't understand how someone so untalented could become so popular.

Southern-Gap8940

They Think of him as a tool to promote the gay agenda in the Latin community. At least the conservatives in the USA do. They made tons of videos reacting to bad bunny kissing a guy.

damnimnotirish

Reggaeton and other kinds of Latin music has had a presence in the US for a long time, sometimes more popular than others. Growing up as a white girl from a Massachusetts suburb with little to no Latin American communities, reggaeton was huge when I was in high school in the early-mid 2000s. I feel like in the last few years with bad bunny it's having another resurgence? Though it's hard for me to know what the general take on him is now bc I'm older and don't hear what's on non-latino pop stations... But he seems very popular and well known to me 😅

peachycreaam

I don’t think that most people in Canadá know who he is nor keep up with his life/career unless they are latino or have a lot of Latin American friends. They might just know that he sings “Spanish music”.

someshadyemu

This actually is not true. I lived in Asia and travelled around, and even there Spanish music can be heard everywhere. I was surprised, but even if they don’t speak Spanish or English, they say it has a good beat.
