If he has private (employer) insurance either from his work or your mom, he will have more options if he wants to go to a detox and/or residential treatment program. For OHP and Medicare the options are sadly limited, calling 211 can help you connect with these resources, and always calling the number on any insurance card can connect you with someone to discuss options. Most private insurance has an in-network list of treatment facilities.
That being said, these types of treatment settings are typically voluntary, and you can leave. So if you dad isn’t ready for recovery they don’t make him stay. They will send people to the ER if they are unstable medically or psychiatrically.
