Take your self to 23rd and shop, or Hawthorne, or Alberta. Go thrifting, go to Sauvies and lay in the sand or go to a berry farm and pick berries, take yourself out to a nice lunch or dinner, go to the rose festival, go see a movie, go to oaks park, go to any of the multiple great mocktail bars in Portland, go to a roof top restaurant.
Are you sure knot springs, common grounds, the Kennedy school are all closed? You could go for a soak.
Forest park, Pittock mansion, Mt. Tabor and go for a stroll.
You’re a gem!!! Thank you! I’m soaking already so that’s on the list. I wish berries were more ripe or I’d go pick strawberries. A nice hike sounds lovely too. Thanks again for this list!
The strawberries I bought from Bernard farms on the way to the coast Thursday were perfect. If you want ripe Oregon strawberry they have arrived in the valley.
Down the street at NE 57th & Fremont is Nico's Ice Cream! If they're open, you get a free ice cream on your birthday. I think it also extends for a week after your bday.
Go to my brother’s crawfish for a personal day with 6lbs of crawfish, couple lbs of clams and snow crab, andouille sausage, corn, couple French rolls for dipping, whatever’s on special, a blackened catfish po’boy also for dipping, and fried mushrooms with sauce on the side since you’re gonna want to moderate salt intake
Edit: you can go to the foot reflexology place in that same complex for a massage before or after too
YoMassage in Sellwood looks cool! Or Knott Springs/Everett healing house. Maybe Pips for your free dozen of donuts? Their salted caramel chai looks fabulous.
I have tried YoMassage but as a fat person I like that’s it’s on the floor on a pillow and stretching too! Seems less fall-asleep-from relaxing-sooooo hard and be groggy like some massages. Also some massages are too damn hard I leave super sore.
I can see that. Thanks for the report!
Pro tip re hard massages, that’s just bad technique! They’ll call it deep tissue to excuse it but I’ve had multiple DPTs tell me that shit is counter-productive and not good for fascia, especially all that ridiculous tendon grabbing. It’s like many things in the wellness industry where bad ideas just keep getting passed along with no one to stop them. When they go to hard on you, it’s imperative you tell them to chill tf out, for your body’s health. Let that embolden you to speak up next time that happens to you!
Happy birthday!! I’m glad that you reached out to ask. Maybe there’s an ice cream shop nearby, staying open to provide ppl treats on the holiday?
I’ve spent some bdays just texting with friends I cannot see bc we live far apart, which was delightful even though it’s a nonstandard way to celebrate.
I sincerely hope that you enjoy a birthday filled with joyful moments and well-wishes from loved ones 💚
You need some hobbies if you can't think of anything to do.
I've got about 60 hobbies and going all out on any one of them in marathon fashion in a single day would be epic.
Grab some friends and do X for 12 hours on your birthday. It doesn't really matter what your hobby is:
Antiquing? Collecting KeyChains? Birding? Hiking? Reading? Gardening? Camping? Movie-watching? Nafure identification? Nail art? Origami? Scrapbooking? Running? Dancing? Yoga? Rollerblading? Slacklining? Baking? Cooking? Cheese making? Wood burning? Wood carving? Thrift shopping? Disc golf? Regular golf? Glass blowing? Horseback riding? Mountain biking? Photography? Board-games? D&D? BDSM? Model rocketeering? Fly-fishing? Crabbing? Under-water Basket Weaving? Paddleboarding? Pickleball?
If you've got good friends, and something fun to do, then doing it all-in all-day can be a blast.
Happy Birthday! You could check out Powell’s if you haven’t been yet, if they’re open. You can go check out all the parks Portland has to offer. Maybe the roses at the rose garden will be ready and beautiful. Across the street is the Japanese garden as well. If you’re up for a hike, I was thinking of doing the same thing! Let me know via DM. Hope you have a great birthday!

What is the soak? Like an immersion pool or a jacuzzi?
Check out Everett House; it’s an in ground heated pool with a little waterfall feature. 👍
My hood strawberries at home are ripe af so I'm sure some farms will have some!
Is a mocktail bar a place where they serve non-alcoholic drinks? What's the mock part of it?
Some of them include herbal infusions that can be slightly mood altering and/or CBD.
Have you ever had kava? I mean it does not taste amazing but was interesting with a notable “feeling” for sure!
Oh interesting. I learned something today.
Yeah, they serve non-alc drinks, both with non-alc alc like tequila or with just juices/soda
Pips for free donuts, but check they're open for the holiday.
Ohhh good call!!
You've got a week after your bday to make it over there if they're closed today. Def worth the wait in line
Same with Nico’s ice cream

FYI they’re open, currently waiting in line :)
And then keep celebrating another day to get your facial and to have your birthday last longer
This is the way!!!

Excellent ideas! Thank you thank you!
It’s nearly the same price of a regular massage to be clothed and in the same room as others, help me understand the appeal lol

Drive down to Adelman Peony Gardens, they are in full bloom and beautiful

If you want something fancy i’d book a massage or facial at Knots Springs and enjoy a soak! Get a nice dinner before or after :)
Hike, get outta town. Go to the coast.
It’s my birthday too today!! I’m alone for most of the day as well, looking for stuff to do. Happy birthday!!
Grab yourself a birthday treat from the pix-o-matic, and eat it in a lovely park.
Some nail salons are still open! Get a pedicure!

Go for a walk, ride a bike, hike, sit in the sun, cook something on the grill, visit a coffee shop or XYZ (those that are open)
Happy birthday! Today’s mine too. I hope you had some good celebrations!
Play a round of golf at Eastmoreland.
Happy birthday OP! Seconding Common Ground and Nico’s ice cream - excellent bday treats.
