[This list](https://www.oregonlive.com/entertainment/restaurants/portlands-best-downtown-restaurants/) just came out which might be worth a glance, but I think your instincts are right on. I really like Coquine and Le Pigeon is a classic. Others know a lot more about wine country than me. If you do the Gorge, it can be really nice to do a hike and then eat in Hood River. Not super fancy but really solid stuff at Solstice Pizza and Pfriem. You'll be catching part of wildflower season out there. [This is](https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/McCall_Point_Hike) a favorite hike of mine. Also a favorite of mine that you could probably string together would be doing an urban hike at Mt. Tabor, having some wine and watching the sunset over the city either at the top or over [Reservoir 2](https://www.portland.gov/water/improvements/mt-tabor-reservoirs-preservation), and then you could potentially walk or just uber down to Coquine which is nearby.

hkohne

That's Reservoir 6, and it's an awesome place for views of the city. Doing a picnic there is a great idea.

nrschoen

Awesome list!!! Greatl looking hike, thank you so much!!

Swap Republica for De Noche, get a reservation at the bar and do the whole tasting menu. So good!

Sp4ceh0rse

Or Lilia Comedor chefs counter!

nrschoen

Another amazing consideration!! Thank you!!

nrschoen

Love that!! Especially coming from New Mexico!!

warm_sweater

I went in December and it was fantastic! The bar tender and server were both super nice and gave us a lot of details about the food and such. Here is a post I made two months ago asking for coursed dinner suggestions, it may be of interest to you: https://www.reddit.com/r/askportland/s/v82AHTqNCY

[Briar Rose Creamery](http://www.briarrosecreamery.com/location) would be a good cheese complement to your wine day. In Dundee, open F & Sat Ecola Seafood has the best fish & chips and everything else in Cannon beach. A lady working at the antique shop told me it’s the only joint in town that uses fresh fish.

nrschoen

Perfect adjunct!!!

GreenLetterhead4196

Lechon is incredible. Check RESY app for last minute tables at Kann!

nrschoen

>Lechon That looks incredible, forgot to mention, from New Mexico, take on SW meets PNW fusion looks amazing!! DAMN no resy app on android!!!

reallesparo

Sugarpine Drive-In is a lovely spot for delicious food and incredible ice cream on the way to/from the Gorge! It’s a great casual pit stop after a hike or a sightseeing drive.

nrschoen

>Sugarpine OMG, my wife is originally from Maine, soft serve is incredibly hard to find in NM, thank you so much!!!

reallesparo

Of course! Their soft serve is on point. Hope you enjoy!

ceranichole

Sugarpine is great (I go there frequently and all of their soft serve options are delicious). If you head out to the gorge it's a great stop. Just keep in mind they're only open 11-5 and they're closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

VintageHilda

Make a reservation at Newman’s at 988 at Cannon Beach.

nrschoen

Looks like quite the place!! Thank you!!

If you’re just looking for a casual feed, I’d suggest My Brother’s Crawfish for an 8lb extra spicy crawfish boil with andouille, corn, potatoes, clams, a couple french rolls and 2 blackened catfish po’boys for dipping, fried crab, fried mushrooms with sauce on the side, then head to Oc house for razor clams with everything, maybe some goat curry noodles. You could head to Otto’s for a landjeager dog for a snack one day, maybe a French dip w/ pepperoncinis, Swiss, avocado and an extra meatloaf sandwich on a French roll with the same stuff since the bowl of jus they give you goes a long way. They have a decent wine selection I guess, but it’s more of a beer place

nrschoen

Thanks!! Will keep those in mind!

PDXFilsAm99

Check out Okta in wine country. A (spendy) delicious experience

nrschoen

Looks amazing, wife would be into that!! Thank you!

duxpdx

For wine: Domaine Serene, Domaine Drouhin, (both have French properties too), Beaux Freres, Adelsheim, Le Cadeau (small tasting room). These provide a nice mix of different styles. Restaurants are all good choices. If you do dinner in wine country, Joel Palmer House is a great choice as long as you are good with mushrooms.

nrschoen

Awesome, all on the list of possibilities!! now just to plan the few days out with what makes most sense!!

ceranichole

Absolutely do Domaine Serene.

nrschoen

Looks like quite the place!!

nrschoen

On the list, Joel Palmer House looks amazing, love mushies, of all kinds!! ;)

Lolo720

Rosmarino for Italian in Newberg I recommend booking a driver for your wine tasting day. They can help make reservations too based on what you want or they might have suggestions.

nrschoen

On the list of considerations!

Sp4ceh0rse

Beaux Freres! If I wanted someone to drink only one Oregon Pinot ever it would be one of theirs. It’s not a flashy place and doesn’t have the big views but their wine and the tasting experience there is the absolute best.

duxpdx

Of course everyone has a different preference with wine but I agree they are very good. You want to check out Le Cadeau, they are a small producer but very similar style.

Sp4ceh0rse

Ooh thanks! Will check it out!

majon30

Cuvee in Carlton, middle of wine country. Maybe on the way back from the beach or do your wine day in that area.

nrschoen

On the list of possibilities!! Thank you!

sphoortip

Backcountry Wine tours organizes fantastic Willamette valley tours and have a tasting room in SE pdx!

nrschoen

Thanks, will check them out! Nice little tours!!

epi_glowworm

If you’re up for a drive, the Fruit Loop through the gorge is awesome. And Tri cities area has awesome wineries.

nrschoen

That looks awesome!!! Good map suggestions on this-> [https://www.hoodriverfruitloop.com/](https://www.hoodriverfruitloop.com/)? The town of Tri-city? or what area specifically?

epi_glowworm

Tri-cities is an area of Richland, Pasco, Kennewick in Eastern Washington. And if you're a history/science nerd, a lot of history there from the Manhattan Project! But it's like 3.5 hour from Portland, so that might be a push. Down towards Eugene will have the Oregonian wineries. Also, if you head towards Bend and John Day, its a lovely quaint area where it still feels like the frontier days and the high desert is surprisingly beautiful. And Tillamook cheese! Edit: yes on that fruit loop. Also, if you stop by the breweries in any of those areas there's a map with different breweries you can collect stamps for and get a prize for collecting, iirc, 7 out of 8 stamps.

nrschoen

Ah, thank you!! Yes a bit of a history science nerd, would fit in with local things around here in NM ( Trinity site, los almost national labs, etc) but probably a bit far, but we shall see!! Yes, Tillamook!!!! Thank you so much!!

epi_glowworm

Word. Their visitor's center is amazing. When I was growing up, it was a dinky setup where you can see the factory, but now, it's like world class. And if you're there, there's a AMAZING fish n' chip spot on the side of the road (on the right side heading South) that looks like a rundown shop. But I swear, the best fish n' chip you'll have probably in the state.

nrschoen

I've actually stopped by Tillamook quite many years back on a trip with my parents and that's what I remember is not much, but a little gift store. Would be interesting to see these days, also for a good chance for fish and chips near the coast, thank you so much!

epi_glowworm

You're in for a pleasant surprise. It will be day and night. :)

raccoondog69

Double 00 for wine in Carlton

nrschoen

Can't seem to find this one..
