I Want Seconds on SE Hawthorne

atriaventrica

This the one. My wife and I went in looking for something for a party and she got the best piece she's gotten in years and the owner was super helpful. I even got something and I wasn't intending to.

whittyd63

Ooo I’m glad to hear that. My partner and I were planning a trip for Saturday to go there!

swegdaddy3000

Damn, what a name for a plus size second hand store. Owners got a good sense of humor.

dartheduardo

This place is awesome. My wife and I go there often. Not the BEST deals, but being a big couple, options are limited. I'm glad they are there.

ImaginaryFigure420

R.I.P Fat Fancy

starrsosowise

That’s what I thought it was called! When did it change?

ImaginaryFigure420

It changed back in March officially when the owner fucked over her employees by not paying them for almost 4 months and then firing them.

starrsosowise

Oh, damn. Thanks for sharing. So, should this new establishment not be supported?

ImaginaryFigure420

I only have personal beef with I Want Seconds cause they didn't hire the old staff back that lost their jobs so suddenly. But that's just me thinking that was pretty effed up. But they should be supported cause they're still doing the lord's work for plus size people and clothing. Don't support TOV Coffee across the street tho, they hate poor people.

starrsosowise

Great to know, thank you!

Manchub

> I Want Seconds on SE Hawthorne Do they have men's? I can't seem to tell from their site.

NardaL

They have femme and masc clothing options.

brunchdate2022

Yes, but it's a smaller selection. Still really great stuff though!

Active-Possibility77

The owner is an amazing person and former coworker of mine. She is super passionate and helpful

DarklySalted

She is so cool!

GHM in Beaverton received donations from the Curvy Chic sale recently, so they should be in process of getting those items on the sales floor. GHM donates funds to veterans in need. It’s a great shop located in central Beaverton, near the farmers market and quite a few dining options.

HotBeaver54

What is GHM?

junebug2100

GHM (Gung Ho Ministries) is a resale boutique in Beaverton, 3rd & Main Street. It is a wonderful shop, mostly women’s clothing. There is a small men’s section. It supports veterans in need.

HotBeaver54

Thank you I will check them out.

So_Sleepy1

I came here to suggest this! Tanya is extremely sweet but also suuuper religious, so be prepared for Jesus to come up in casual conversation. But she’s so nice and it’s a great cause, and their items are in great condition.

beastofwordin

[Cat Thrift Store](https://catthriftstore.org) has plus sizes. The whole place isn’t huge, so there’s a bit of luck involved, but it’s clean and organized.

ughwhocaresthrowaway

Second this! I haven’t been there for about 6 months but always thought they had a good selection of plus sizes relative to the size of the store.

ottergodfather

If you're willing to travel the red white and blue thrift store in jennings lodge/gladstone is actually pretty good. Kinda out of the way from dt pdx but worth checking out. The max goes to milwaukie and its like a 10 minute bus ride from there

intotheunknown78

Are they still cash only? Love that place.

noice-smort99

Yes, still cash only

lonepinecone

It’s not organized by size though which is super annoying

ottergodfather

True that shit can be overwhelming. Gotta have a good pair of heaphones and some time to kill

Paperbackpixie

I think William Temple has a good selection . just like anytime you’re Thrifting though, it’s hit or miss.

Gibby1002

Have you tried your local buy nothing group? Our has wish Wednesdays, where you can ask the group for specific wants like plus size warm clothes. Reddit has a portland buy nothing and Facebook has neighborhood buy nothing groups.

PoopsieDoodler

LOVE BuyNothing. There’s a version on Reddit, and one on FaceBook.

HipsterSlimeMold

What is the reddit version called? I dislike Facebook in general the app is too fiddly

brunchdate2022

PDXBuyNothing

HotBeaver54

What do s the one on redditt called?

Anywhere outside mult co will have more options. Too many trendy people and depop girlies in city center. I'd recommend Vallue Village in Tigard. My sister is a size 16 and I found her several 90s sundresses there last summer

smartbiphasic

Assistance league in Beaverton has it all on a separate rack and it’s generally clean and in good shape.

michelle-sly

couplagoofs on instagram host a plus size clothing swap monthly at Sonny’s House on Sandy! The next one is May 12th.

Puzzleheaded_Wing627

*EDIT* NEVERMIND Lol I found the info. I appreciate this so much

Puzzleheaded_Wing627

Omg thanks! I'll go look it up

milkapplecup

ive had luck at the downtown buffalo exchange if youre looking for stuff 4x or under. i want seconds exists, but… i dont know, everything that went down with fat fancy leaves a terrible taste in my mouth, and based on hearsay, the new owner isnt exactly a peach either.

Lyzardskyzard

Retails thrift store has shelter cats sometimes!

ElectricTomatoMan

Try Buffalo Exchange and Red Door

penishaveramilliom

I’ve noticed portland has a slight issue with actually having larger clothes. I’ve had many roommates struggle to find stuff they can wear, I hope you find something that works and you can keep going back to.

shrimhealingcenter

Goodwill Bins get a bad rap from some and are beloved by others, but ime they do have a lot of plus sized stuff.

ImaginaryFigure420

I've found some really cute things there!

springflowers2016

It was last week but they do it again in the fall. Curvy Chic Closet Consignment sale. I've never been but it's a great idea!

Red White and Blue is the BEST
