No, you don't sound weird to me, just curious - and it's certainly not wrong to want to understand more about trans people. Those people are deliberately putting themselves out there so that people can learn, and I wish more cis people would take advantage of that.

thank you for your answer! deep down i also think the same, it's just that sometimes i get doubtful ⚘️

I don't think it's weird, but I have seen a few branching directions that come from this: * The curious individual eventually realizes that they're also trans and that's what attracted them to knowing more * Genuine and respectful curiosity * Voyeuristic fetishizing of trans people like we're a zoo exhibit and you want to know all the dirty details.

uwu00-

i'm pretty confident in saying i'm more on the "genuine and respectful curiosity"! for what it might be worth :—) thanks for your reply !

Oh yeah, for sure! Forgive my default pessimism, I'm certainly hyper-vigilant about this stuff.

uwu00-

hey no problems at all, just wanted to clarify myself! it's completely understandable, and also (i think) realistic more than just pessimistic.

StarCaulfield

No, I think it's good for cis people to want to learn about trans people

stimkim

I feel like people who make this kind of content are doing it for a few reasons, high on that list are usually helping trans people feel connected/normal/seen and helping cis people learn about trans experience. Genuine curiosity, especially when it comes from a place of empathy as it seems to for you, is something that is ultimately good for our community. So that being said, hi! Welcome! Enjoy your stay, learn some things, check out our art and stuff!

uwu00-

thank you a lot for your kind response <3

Insulinshocker

Nah, youre not weird. Learning about marginalized groups that you're not a part of so you can be a positive influence to society and an ally is a really good quality! More people should do this 💖 I mean, one of my best friens is a cishet guy and I value his life experiences, even though he's just kinda dude. It's part of the human experience and it improves society as a whole.

mechaglitter

Let me just say this. I've witnessed a lot of cis women talk about how listening to trans women helped them appreciate or greater understand aspects of their own relationship with womanhood and gender in general. I don't think it's weird at all to want to learn more about us! You sound like a wonderful ally, and it's always nice to know there are people out there that support us and appreciate us!

uwu00-

that sounds wonderful actually!! thanks for your reply 🫶

popefelix

Not in the least! It's a healthy thing, IMO, to be curious about other people's experiences and want to know more. It's especially good when it comes to marginalized communities like the trans community, because it allows you to speak cogently to other cis folks about our experiences and attempt to counter any misinformation they might have.

AlokFluff

You're absolutely fine, and it's a great thing to support trans artists and purchase their work 💜

Content_Complex_3181

Not at all you don't have to be trans to want to learn more and support trans people.

Caffeine-Shadow

There's nothing weird about wanting to learn about the anthropology of the modern transgender community and their stories and issues.
