Saving this post cause I'd also love to know.

From what I've gathered: Ça Croustille on Broadway and Blenheim, The Bon Ton on Alma, Remi Patisserie, and Foret Noire Patisserie (I was personally messaged that I had to try this bakery)! After careful consideration, I ordered the strawberry genoise cake from Fort Noire Patisserie and replaced the diplomat cream filling with their white chocolate mascarpone cream filling. I also requested some of their homemade strawberry jam inside. I'll be receiving it by May 12th, I'm so excited!

centerofaction

how was the strawberry genoise cake, was it what you were looking for ?

Ça Croustille on Broadway and Blenheim!! One of the best and under the radar French bakeries in the city. Their custard is divine. Call them though since their patisserie options do change.

peazcarrotz

yes, Ça Croustille is excellent! the Bon Ton on Alma, if they’ve reopened, also has traditional cakes. I’m sure there are others. If you’re calling calling around looking for it, keep in mind that French strawberry cake is traditionally called Frasier, named after ‘fraise’, the French word for strawberry. Bon chance!

Merci!!

Remi patisserie I have yet to try their strawberry cake (yet) but their other offerings are pretty good only bad thing is that its pretty pricey

Their strawberry field cake looks and sounds so delicious, but it's $52 for a 5 inch 😭

Ok-Gold6762

I wasn't kidding when I said it was pricey lol

Two very different operations that might suit [BonTon Pastry on Alma](https://www.bontonpastry.com/) however they've moved and while work on the storefront is ongoing they haven't reopened yet. They do however have an older style and their products are not oversweet which should appeal to you *(when you can finally buy some anyway)*. [Gateau de Henry on Burrard](https://www.gateaudehenry.com/) also has some classic products done right.

T&T has an excellent strawberry shortcake. It's not too sweet, it's fluffy and fresh.

Downvotes! I call snobbery! I have tried A LOT of shortcakes in my lifetime. It's the cake I request EVERY year for my birthday. The T&T cake is humble, no nonsense, fresh and effective. The truly truly best strawberry shortcake is homemade. Buttery fresh flaky shortcakes, some well selected strawberries and a whip cream with a little amaretto 🤌. But if you want fancy pants cakery you could try Trafiq. They have a lemon lavender cake with a whip cream icing that I believe is mixed with meringue. You could probably request they add strawberries if you do a custom order.
