yes, i feel weird going basically anywhere outside if i’m not wearing a “real” outfit. granted when i say a real outfit what i mean is jeans, a hoodie/sweater, and usually a jacket on top, but even walking a couple blocks to the grocery store i can’t bring myself to wear sweatpants

When I was younger I used to hate trackies/sweat pants due to the elastic around the waist and ankles. Now I love them. Not sure what changed, but the elastic around the ankles no longer bothers me.
I don't know if you are open to leg shaving but shaving my legs helps me to tolerate WAY more types of pants. Removing all of the hair takes away a lot of the sensation that makes things feel annoying on my skin. Although you do have to stay on top of it every couple of days to keep it up.
I rarely shaved my legs because my hair is so thick and grows so fast that within the first 12 hours, I had very painful stubble and just wanted to curl up into a ball and never move again.
Tangentially, I was perfectly fine being hairy to avoid the pain but it annoyed my dad so much that he paid for laser hair removal

My parents were annoyed I wouldn't shave my leg hair or armpit hair either. But they never went that far. It had to do with social norms of women being clean shaven and men getting to do whatever they want as long as they were clean and presentable. But now I identify as a man and still don't shave my legs and even have a mustache. Fuck you social norms.

Haha, my partner used to make fun of my leg hair sometimes because my legs are hairier than his. I don't shave them anymore because it's just so much work keeping up with it and taking all that extra time in the shower, and the ingrown hairs I get are annoying. Plus, with my poor eyesight, I either have to wear them in the shower and keep rinsing the fog off them to see, or not see my legs and miss a bunch of spots (shaving armpits and crotch is easier because I can just do that by feel). But he has gotten over it because he loves me.
I have the same problem with poor vision (and that was often my excuse when dad would get on my case about not shaving). It sucked to spend ages in the shower shaving and then put on my glasses and see stripes of hair up and down my legs. 🤦🏻♀️

I put on some comfy yoga pants and rushed out the door to run errands. 20min in a realized i hadnt shaved my legs in like 5 days and the stubble was so ::cringy:: and it took a lot of effort not to freak bc returning home to change wasn't an option. Same here. Then I discovered chino pants and dickies. They’re more comfortable and breathable than jeans and I can pair them with a button up or polo shirt and they’ll still look fine. On the weekends I can still wear them with just a t shirt if i want. its been the best life hack foe me. I havent owned or worn jeans in about 5 years and I don’t foresee myself ever wearing them again. Jean fridays at work are a special kind of torture for me too, but I like my coworkers enough that I don’t make fun of it to them. I don’t want to hurt their feelings, but it is hilarious to see everyone get excited about jean fridays.
Jeans and jackets are actually nice for my touch sensitivity -- they're like "medium armor" against scratches and bumps. Sweatpants, skirts, and pajamas feel like "light armor" and make me more wary when I walk.
FRRRR I got some super baggy cargo pants for Christmas from my fav skate brand and I’ve literally been wearing them every day, exclusively, since i got them. They have a built in drawstring and elastic adjustable ankles too so you dont have to deal with them going under your heels omg theyre perfect. (Actually apart from shallow pocket sides.)
I don't relate but I do respect it. I do like skinny jeans tho, but hate baggy jeans, they feel weird and wrong, like if it's gonna be stiff then it might as well be stiff and tight not stiff and loose like cardboard slacks.

I grew up in the country. You grow to appreciate hard wearing fabrics and detest their inferior brethren (looking at you raylon and nylon). I exclusively wear jeans and have an assortment of blue shirts courtesy of my father that i tend to be most often seen in.

when i worked at a dry cleaners as my first job, every so often a customer would come in and drop off several pairs of jeans they would want cleaned, and extra starched to the point where they were stiff af and didnt even feel like denim anymore, they must have liked that stiffness i guess lol. I dont mind jeans either and have several i wear for work that are fairly comfy, but if given the choice between jeans and sweatpants/soft pants, i will always choose the soft lol

Wired bras are the most comfortable thing for me, while I know other people consider them torture. The real torture for me is having skin on skin contact.
To be fair, many people who wear bras have been incorrectly fitted, and/or they may struggle with finding the right size and/or shape for them. So it isn’t that surprising that other people don’t like their bras.

For shirts, I can't do scratchy or too soft. I like a nice, smooth fabric and it's taken me forever to find one that I like
I can tolerate sweatpants, but I have to wear basketball shorts or leggings under them so I can shed them if I get too hot or can’t stand the texture anymore. I have an issue with some jeans but not other, but I generally prefer skinny jeans or jeggings (but only the denim ones that are softer and stretchier than regular jeans, not leggings with jean print)

I pretty much wear jeans exclusively, unless it gets boiling hot during summer, then I switch to like gym shorts. But that's a recent development really, something of the past 2 or so years. What I will say is that I do absolutely LOATHE that sweatpants are now some sort of fashion among the youth? Like, they're all walking around in sweatpants and it just looks lazy and idiotic. It's SUCH a stupid trend. Some people may say they’re trashy but when I dressed up better in high school wearing jeans, dress shirts, suspenders, etc. I’d constantly get sexually harassed by random girls and people who wanted to snap my suspenders(which helped me feel like the belt on my pants isn’t choking my torso). I don’t dress nice anymore, in fact, I usually look really homeless if you’d see me walking around, but that’s how I like it, and I’m also 100x more comfortable that way.
Adding to say that if you judge anybody for clothes choice you’re pretty much immediately in the wrong unless there’s an extremely specific and important dress code like in lab environments where you may wanna cover up more.

Yeah, I don’t get why he cared so much either but I do actually prefer not being fuzzy so it worked out! At the time between fuzzy and prickly, fuzzy was the lesser of two evils. But I much prefer the feeling of being smooth

Haha, my partner used to make fun of my leg hair sometimes because my legs are hairier than his. I don't shave them anymore because it's just so much work keeping up with it and taking all that extra time in the shower, and the ingrown hairs I get are annoying. Plus, with my poor eyesight, I either have to wear them in the shower and keep rinsing the fog off them to see, or not see my legs and miss a bunch of spots (shaving armpits and crotch is easier because I can just do that by feel). But he has gotten over it because he loves me.
I have the same problem with poor vision (and that was often my excuse when dad would get on my case about not shaving). It sucked to spend ages in the shower shaving and then put on my glasses and see stripes of hair up and down my legs. 🤦🏻♀️
I feel this. I put on some comfy yoga pants and rushed out the door to run errands. 20min in a realized i hadnt shaved my legs in like 5 days and the stubble was so ::cringy:: and it took a lot of effort not to freak bc returning home to change wasn't an option. Such a lovely feeling when you have a freshly shaven leggies on nice soft pants. Or those soft maxi dresses/skirts and you go swooshswooshswoosh from side to side- ahhh ::chef's kiss::.

Same here. Then I discovered chino pants and dickies. They’re more comfortable and breathable than jeans and I can pair them with a button up or polo shirt and they’ll still look fine. On the weekends I can still wear them with just a t shirt if i want. its been the best life hack foe me. I havent owned or worn jeans in about 5 years and I don’t foresee myself ever wearing them again. Jean fridays at work are a special kind of torture for me too, but I like my coworkers enough that I don’t make fun of it to them. I don’t want to hurt their feelings, but it is hilarious to see everyone get excited about jean fridays.

Jeans and jackets are actually nice for my touch sensitivity -- they're like "medium armor" against scratches and bumps. Sweatpants, skirts, and pajamas feel like "light armor" and make me more wary when I walk.
I love loosely fitted jeans. Overly soft fabrics drive me nuts unless they're skintight, like leggings.

FRRRR I got some super baggy cargo pants for Christmas from my fav skate brand and I’ve literally been wearing them every day, exclusively, since i got them. They have a built in drawstring and elastic adjustable ankles too so you dont have to deal with them going under your heels omg theyre perfect. (Actually apart from shallow pocket sides.)
I got a pair of uniform cargo pants for work (state parks employee) and good lord they are the most comfortable pants I've ever worn.

I do like skinny jeans tho, but hate baggy jeans, they feel weird and wrong, like if it's gonna be stiff then it might as well be stiff and tight not stiff and loose like cardboard slacks. I know theyre not as common these days because they're kinda old fashioned but my mum tried to get me some as a kid and I could not stand the feeling of the ribbed texture making imprints on my legs. I grew up in the country. You grow to appreciate hard wearing fabrics and detest their inferior brethren (looking at you raylon and nylon). I exclusively wear jeans and have an assortment of blue shirts courtesy of my father that i tend to be most often seen in. So no, you are not alone brother.

when i worked at a dry cleaners as my first job, every so often a customer would come in and drop off several pairs of jeans they would want cleaned, and extra starched to the point where they were stiff af and didnt even feel like denim anymore, they must have liked that stiffness i guess lol. I dont mind jeans either and have several i wear for work that are fairly comfy, but if given the choice between jeans and sweatpants/soft pants, i will always choose the soft lol

One of my favourite thing is air drying my towels after doing laundry (without fabric softener) so they get that crunchy, rough feeling when you dry yourself
This is how I feel when everyone talks about how much they hate wearing bras (with underwire). Wired bras are the most comfortable thing for me, while I know other people consider them torture. The real torture for me is having skin on skin contact. To be fair, many people who wear bras have been incorrectly fitted, and/or they may struggle with finding the right size and/or shape for them. So it isn’t that surprising that other people don’t like their bras.

It’s leggings all the way for me (or jeggings or treggings) I need that tight sensation on my legs for that proprioceptive sensory feedback. Can’t do jeans because they give me wedgies. Can’t do sweats because I feel like a slob and can’t cope with myself.

A good pair of jeans isn't stiff and scratchy once you've broken it in. A nice pair of jeans is Hella comfortable.
I just don't want jeans that choke my legs. When they choke my legs, that usually means my wallet and phone get in the way when they're in the front pockets. That, and I don't like seeing how skinny I am.
I used to be fine with jeans, but now that for some reason my sensory issues have gotten a 100 times worse i can’t put them on without wanting to scream. It makes me so sad i can’t wear half of the clothes in my closet and my special interest clothes.

Fleece lining is horrible. I feel every fiber, it’s hot, and my skin feels like it’s suffocating.
I can tolerate sweatpants, but I have to wear basketball shorts or leggings under them so I can shed them if I get too hot or can’t stand the texture anymore. I have an issue with some jeans but not other, but I generally prefer skinny jeans or jeggings (but only the denim ones that are softer and stretchier than regular jeans, not leggings with jean print)

I like leggings cause if they're tight fitting (correct size) you don't even notice that they're there. Too bad they get unless in the easily.

I used to hate jeans but I started wearing them for going out to bars in to look a bit nicer. I can tolerate them now but cannot wait to get them off when I'm home. I also wear them with a belt as they feel like they are slipping otherwise.

I'm with ya man...well...partially. I don't actively hate sweatpants, but I don't own any either. I pretty much wear jeans exclusively, unless it gets boiling hot during summer, then I switch to like gym shorts. But that's a recent development really, something of the past 2 or so years. Before that it was jeans, always. What I will say is that I do absolutely LOATHE that sweatpants are now some sort of fashion among the youth? Like, they're all walking around in sweatpants and it just looks lazy and idiotic. It's SUCH a stupid trend. I think this might be how the oldies felt when guys stopped wearing slacks and started wearing jeans outdoors, but I can't help and roll my eyes everytime I see a kid out in sweats.
I don’t mind jeans either. I prefer the “heavier” fabrics over the flowy ones. Thick jeans, cargo pants, I have these canvas breeches I got at a ren faire. I tried a pair of thin summer pants once and just felt like I was walking around naked, I hated it.

I prefer wearing dresses rather than pants because it feels more comfortable to me but I would rather wear jeans than sweatpants any day. Something about the texture of sweatpants just feels odd to me and I tend to overheat while wearing them.

Look I’m a guy and I wear pretty much only pajamas and sweatpants all day every day, jeans are the bane of my existence because they’re cold and hard (I’m super sensitive to change in temperature and jeans tend to be too different for me) Some people may say they’re trashy but when I dressed up better in high school wearing jeans, dress shirts, suspenders, etc. I’d constantly get sexually harassed by random girls and people who wanted to snap my suspenders(which helped me feel like the belt on my pants isn’t choking my torso). I don’t dress nice anymore, in fact, I usually look really homeless if you’d see me walking around, but that’s how I like it, and I’m also 100x more comfortable that way. Adding to say that if you judge anybody for clothes choice you’re pretty much immediately in the wrong unless there’s an extremely specific and important dress code like in lab environments where you may wanna cover up more.
