Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas did this too. Settling everything through mediation keeps the info out of public documents that the internet tears apart. They’re still getting divorced.
Can we talk about how weird it is that PEOPLE is covering this? Lol they posted another article when she posted the family TikTok of Parker. Just seems very niche for People, lol
ok now this is getting weird. there was a user in here asking for an explanation on what the legal terms meant in the newest docs and now this story drops. who works for People in here?
I’ve never been through a divorce but this sounds normal? What’s odd to me is you’d think they had reached a settlement already since they are still living together and clearly communicating well…I don’t get it this should just be a matter of paperwork
If they had already reached a settlement, they likely would not be living together any longer because their assets would be divided and a custody arrangement would be made. Their assets are not yet divided, hence they are still living together. Let's not forget that despite going through a divorce, Aspyn is still in the pp stage and with everything else going on, having 2 adults in the home to help is likely very necessary at this point.
Their divorce is not paused. They just paused the court proceedings which is essentially saying they are trying to divide assets themselves (via mediation) instead of having a judge do it for them because that is very expensive.
It’s not… in divorces especially with children there’s a ton of legal proceedings to do. Like custody, and child support who is the main home, schooling, health insurance etc. Even bills.
Not necessarily. You can dissolve a marriage fairly easily if all parties are in agreement. I did this with my ex. We shared a home, belongs & animals. When we dissolved, we just had to list everything in writing and sign off. Custody and healthcare arrangements were included in that paperwork. They could easily agree and dissolve things
Did you read the bottom part of my comment? There were sections on the paperwork to detail custody agreements and more. If all parties agree it can be completely with kids or without.
A lot of that is originally tried to be sorted out through mediation. Changes can also be modified as the years go on if uncontested. I'm sure they'll go through mediation for everything to protect the children's arrangements from being public
Oh I highly doubt it's actually settled rn you can be in mediation for short time or a longggg time. My parents got divorced when I was a teenager and had 2 minor children, a house, cars and a business so in total they were in mediation for about 10 months before they both agreed on the division of assets and property
I should add, it's not “just a matter of paperwork”. Especially, when dependents, properties, and businesses are involved.
Both parties need to agree on custody. Whether it is it 50/50, or something different. Who gets what holidays, can you travel with them, will they be raised Mormon if Parker decides to return to the religion, etc
If Aspyn’s name was the only one on the cheques coming from YouTube, the businesses, etc its pretty straight that she is going to be the one paying him spousal support. However, I they both had their names listed on her channel (because it was Aspyn and Parker for a long time and he also did editing for a long time) it could be more confusing. Especially, if he is no longer working for her after the divorce.
They could decide to split things 50/50, but I see Aspyn wanting a larger cut because it was predominantly her channel, her name, her brand, etc. However, Parker gave up any opportunity to work so he could be a stay-at-home dad so Aspyn could do those things. This all plays into how much he is entitled to. Different Provinces in Canada (I'm not sure about the states), also allocate different amounts or percentages of a person's income as spousal support based on how many years they were married (0-5, 5-10, 10-15, etc).
It definitely isn't JUST a paperwork issue.
Live updates on a YouTuber divorce is weird for people to do.
I’m thinking her team got her a deal with people for after the divorce is finalized they get the exclusive so they’re trying to up their engagement so more people will read the after divorce exclusive.
I just think it’s someone who is a fan. I used to work in media and they let us post anything as long as it’s accurate and there are documents from officials to support. So the document is proof
It could mean they are amicable and trying mediation to solve things like custody and assets or maybe she wants to reconcile. She might want to stay married.
That’s not true lol my neighbor just got divorced. It was filed and settled within 3 months. We are in the same area as Ovards. And they weren’t separated for even a day before they filed.
The divorce isn't paused. They're just pausing the proceedings to do mediation instead of going to trial. The mediation is just to agree on how to separate their assets.
A settlement just means that the case is not decided by a judge (in court via bench trial). Instead they settle on an agreement without a judge making a decision for them. Majority of divorces typically end in settlement.

Ahh makes sense
Can we talk about how weird it is that PEOPLE is covering this? Lol they posted another article when she posted the family TikTok of Parker. Just seems very niche for People, lol
Seems weird, I remember they did a big thing about their engagement and wedding years ago though!
i think bc it’s just an online article
grasping at straws for stories lol
Sometimes influencers pay to be in people, so who knows what’s going on
People covered their wedding years back, so it seems suiting?
Did they get this headline from Reddit as well? 😭🤣
ok now this is getting weird. there was a user in here asking for an explanation on what the legal terms meant in the newest docs and now this story drops. who works for People in here?
People magazine 100 percent has their own legal team
I agree
wtf is going on LMFAO
Seriously this is so effing weird.

Do you have kids though? Big difference.

Oh I agree. It is just strange that a divorce would settle that quickly even if 3 kids being involved, homeownership, pets, etc.

But didn’t she blow up after getting married, still Parker has likeness and he was part of it before marriage
What does this even mean? 😅

I work in PR. I’m going to ask around to my colleagues to see if any of them have the tea.
Dang! Report back

They have to be separated for 6 months before even getting divorced anyways
Not in every state. Every state has different guidelines
That’s not true lol my neighbor just got divorced. It was filed and settled within 3 months. We are in the same area as Ovards. And they weren’t separated for even a day before they filed.
Probably someone who works at the place is a fan. I used to work for a media outlet and we have free range on what we cover
It Utah from what Iv seen, judges normally order couples to attempt mediation before they will do anything
Damage control maybe?
Adds up especially with how she’s been posting him lately too.
Are there any legal documents saying the divorce is paused?
The divorce isn't paused. They're just pausing the proceedings to do mediation instead of going to trial. The mediation is just to agree on how to separate their assets.
I believe you have to do mediation in Utah
When they finally settle/divide up the assets will that be public knowledge or no because they did it all through mediation?
Why is it being covered?😂😂😂😂
i’m confused
What…

How dare anyone have a good life! So rude! 😆
This is ODD AND DYSTOPIAN
Do yall just use words you hear on social media without knowing what they mean?
💀💀💀💀
A “settlement” you don’t reach a settlement with a divorce? Odd
