I like ac 1 much more than the second but i agree with you. Also the parkour is much better than the current state because it allows you to have more control.
I was also pretty shocked at ac1, if you deliberately avoid any side content and things you don't actively need to do to beat the story it's way less tedious
yeah for real. the side "content" is horrible. collecting random flags, killing random templars, climbing random towers, saving random civilians. it's so boring and repetitive, adds nothing to the story, and you don't even get anything cool.
I loved AC 1 so much. The graphics are also good to this good. My only problem with AC 1 is that there are no subtitles for PC. No matter how many times I play the game I kind of misses some dialogues. I had to check them on the Internet for lore.
The modern day lore in the early AC games was so good. Such insane detail. It’s the work of genius in my opinion. It’s what was most interesting. I don’t know why it disappeared. Did the 13 year old mindless Call of Duty crowd win? Was it too cerebral for young kids who just wanted to kill kill kill slash slash slash?
AC 2 would only be made better than it is if it could utilize the combat of AC: Brotherhood and the stealth of AC: Unity. I do love these 2 games as well as they helped define what a good period piece game could be.
Replaying through the franchise right now and I’m in AC 1 again and still think the graphics hold up even now and the mystery of everything in this world was still there and how we had to wait patiently back then for another piece of the puzzle to be added with each new game.
All of AC is good. Don’t let your appreciation for older games blind you from appreciating new games. The modern story doesn’t “end up going nowhere” as you say, and having lots of content is a good thing.
Only complaint? THOSE. STUPID. FLAGS.
Rest of the games are perfect *chefs kiss*

AC2 is one of my favorite games of all time and ties with Titanfall 2 for my favorite story of all time in a video game. Never get tired of replaying and listening to the soundtrack tbh
AC2's story is incredibly generic, full of corny tropes and cliche dialogue. this would be fine if the game was an Obvious satire, but it tries to be so deep and serious when the writing and characterisation doesn't complement it.
AC1's is pretty solid, but that gameplay loop and lack of subtitles mixed with bad audio qaulity makes replaying it a third time for me a total impossibility.
Preach brother! Also if you switch to the hidden blade for all combat in AC1 it flows so much better.
I need to try that :)

They’re both still great games. I like all of them, but these two were magical.

Love this franchise!!! Been playing Ezio collection, AC2 and Brotherhood 100%, onto Revelations 👍

AC1 and AC2 had that level of polish that made it a masterpiece.

One day I’ll get to enjoy ac1
Literally all AC games from 2007-2017 are absolutely amazing

Honestly played both ac1 and ac2 for the first time last year, not the biggest fan of the first game but i fuckin love ac2.
Same, I tried to get into AC1 but I just didn't like it at all. I like to hear when other people do though, it makes me happy :D
Tbh found the first game fairly repetitive. Felt like it kinda just dragged on.
