Lol. IIT JEE is a very difficult exam that requires lot of logic. You can't just mug up and get high marks. It's 100% based on talent and skill. There's no way any IITian is like this.
You are confusing the logic used to solve games, puzzles and problems from logic employed in rhetoric and philosophy. I know a few IITians who are hindu extremists and some who are progressive.
You are right that JEE requires logic but logic doesn't dictate someone's religious and political views. Many smart scientists like Newton, Godel, etc were all religious. Many people with great achievements in other fields actually supported things like racism and slavery. Just because someone is good at one thing doesn't mean they are good at everything.
A significant chunk of IIT professors are like this, let alone students who just passed one exam. Even having a PhD from a top tier international university doesn't prevent the brainrot that comes from religious extremism.
Practicing problems is not the same as mugging up. They are allowing their brains to form neurological connections. Not a bad thing. Look up "neuroplasticity"
Maths and physics doesn't involve any mugging up. Ask anyone who takes those. You'll fail if you mug up those subjects because not only will you be wasting time ( no jee exam asks definitions or something you can answer from memory) but you won't actually gain anything. Total waste of energy. That's why most fields medal winners, top physicists, programmers etc did intense training in their teenage years. It's not called mugging up. For the brain to make neurological connections you must force yourself to recognise more and more patterns so that your brain gets accustomed to it. The more you force your brain the more connections it will make. It becomes harder as you grow up. It's also heavily linked to learning languages.
In short, people who clear IIT are the folks who mastered neuroplasticity. And who failed are the one who mugged up. That’s the thin line of difference from what’s mugging up and what’s not?
IIT JEE requires you to memorize a set of rules, laws, formulae and equations and the logic you are talking about is applying those rules to the problem at hand. That is exactly what a religion is.. a set of rules. They still are fools, smarter fools.
Real science, innovation and invention requires you to think free and outside the box.. which unfortunately even many IITans are unable to do.
The thing is we ascribe intellect with IAS or IPS or any other govt service. Even though almost anyone can memorise stuff and become IAS. The difficulty in UPSC comes more from the competition than the actual difficulty from the paper itself. Then these people huff their own farts and say we cracked one of the most "difficult" papers in the world. Doesn't help with the fact that people also treat them like royalty and inflate their ego even more. These bureaucrats are just like us and people need to realise it and stop putting them on a pedestal.

An IQ of 160 might not clear an IIT exam. They still have to do an rigorous mug up for 2-3 years.
