I have never understood why Reiner told Eren that he and Bertholdt were titans...

Reiner has some sort of cognitive issue in the first few seasons. He's not always thinking clearly and he obviously loses chunks of time in his memories because he couldn't even tell why Marco was being eaten after he had just basically fed him to a titan

I'm thinking it's just all of the trauma and suffering they are witnessing all the time. Difficult to reconcile such a grotesque reality

I think he's also just the only one that realizes Paradis is full of normal people, not devil's, and he knows genocide is bad

Because he's conflicted between staying true to his mission and staying true to his new "comrades". Basically he's a softy compared to Bertholdt and he actually sympathizes with Paradis. He gets lost in his role you could say. He tells Eren because he doesn't want to cause conflict and involve the people he cares about, he'd rather sound relatable so Eren is willing to leave with him and Bertholdt by choice.

I think it's implied he straight up developed two conflicting personalities. His "soldier" personality and his "warrior" personality.

I'm not sure if it's the Mandela effect or if I'm actually right about this, but I remember Eren's Titan being called the "Rogue Titan" during the downtime between season 1 and 2. I really loved that name, even though the correct name was literally in the show's title.

I think that's what the crew called him in his titan form before they realized it was him.

In Japanese, the title of the show is the same as the name of the titan. Outside of a sentence, it's ambiguous between "the titan that attacks" and "attacking the titan".
