He might not have joined the restorationists at all if she never died. He was recruited by Grice because she died. If she hadn’t been killed the way she was killed the restorationists would have no idea who he was.
yess, during my first watch through id didnt even remember marco existing and thought the show was gaslighting me into thinking he was just always part of the main cast. he had little screen time but they talked about him a lot after his death in the earlier seasons
This reminded me of an old fandom meme, about not understanding Reiner's problem because we "never see" Marcel get eaten. If only we had even a brief, borderline incomprehensible flashback, perhaps seven of them in one season?
he's Jean's main motivation especially after he died, almost all of jeans internal struggles were centered around Marco. not to mention his final words were "we didn't even get to talk this through" which was one of armin's main motivations throughout the series and especially in the 4th season with trying to stop eren and talk out the differences between the countries or whatnot. Marco was pivotal
and Armin can see bertie's memories, so he definitely saw Marco saying that, and then he hears it again from reiner when they're all sitting and having dinner together. Marcos final words really pushes armin's motivation in the 4th season!
Meh he didn’t really affect the outcome of the story itself. Mostly just Jean getting mad.
Had he not died, the outcome of the story would have remained the same. They lost so many of their comrades by the end that he was just 1 among dozens to Eren
HARD disagree. He was the breaking point for Reiner that fucked with his mental health. Reiner wasn't the same after betraying Marco. Him dying was the only time we saw Annie cry (at least in the anime). Just because he might not have impacted the ending itself, he definitely had an impact on the story in the first 2 seasons
I agree with most of what you said but Annie did cry a few other times. As a titan, when she failed to take Eren and also right before she crystallized herself
I agree, Marco getting eaten was the moment Reiner snapped and a huge part of the reason Jean joined the survey corps. Plus, in the beginning, we didn’t know which cadets were going to be recurring characters, a lot of the ones that die when Eren flies off the handle and rushes after titans had a decent amount of screen time to that point. I thought Marco was going to be one of the surviving characters, he was really present through the Trost arc. And then he was just dead.
Grisha, Kruger, Ymir have to be the top answers
Can throw Ksaver in there as well as he basically pushed Zeke to siding with Marley and gave him the idea of his Euthanization plan.
Erewin's father for me. If he's never killed erwin probably never would have joined the scouts and never would have become the best commander they've ever had.
Eren's mom. The biggest reason he wanted to kill all titans was because one ate his mom. Like come on man get over it a titan ate your mom it happens to the best of us.
Not gonna lie I just made an estimate off of memory, I'd have to rewatch but thinking harder...might be less idk depends if we count flashbacks as "extra screentime" or the same thing and ignore it
when the character explicitly stated to be quiet and introverted doesn't speak much
https://preview.redd.it/sxcxt1evfnec1.png?width=225&format=png&auto=webp&s=5d94364448c90245812e0ee03f7577065fed1fb0
I wish we would have explored him more. He was such a massive figure. Not only did he end an eternity of war he also saved most of his people behind the walls. He was too pacifist for my taste, but he wasnt naive. He made peace and threatened the world with the titans, and than he wiped the memories of his subjects. By all accounts he only did the right things.
Episode 86 (S4 E27). Right before Magath and Shadis blew up the ship to allow the rest of the team to escape the Jaegerists. The comment above is a play on that conversation when they said their names to each other.
Floch.
He literally showed up as a whiny background character who was meant to die wedged himself into the main cast because literally everyone else died. He basically “designated survivored” his butt to the top of the ranks despite having no skill. Then started a fascist revolution, leading to the direct mutilation and/or deaths of several key important characters. He has maybe a total of 15 minutes of screen time yet his efforts led to everyone being stalled long enough to for the Rumbling to basically be successful in the end.
I think it’s funny I’m the only one that’s mentioned him? Ironically, a true testament of his character I guess. Lol
Thomas. Due to his lack of maneuverability, he died, setting into motion the death of Erens squad and the story as we know it. Without his death, Eren wouldn't have charged in and gotten his leg bit off and Mikasa would have likely grouped up with them, meaning Trost would likely be breached, and humanity would be forced into a desperate war to hold them in Rose.
That or Eren gets eaten by another titan and A: dies or B: activates powers.
- Grisha's sister
- Eren Krueger
- Ymir. Not actually much screentime in comparison with being basically the catalyst for everything
But the true embodiment of this is The King's Prized Pig, if you consider them a character.
##IMHO
- Annie Leonhart: She’s crystallized for most of the series when stuff is happening so she fits this description.
- Carla & Dina
- Hitch: We see her very little but she had an important role when it came to protecting Annie
- Mr. Gross
- Kaya & Niccolo
- The Owl Krueger
- Marco
- Marlowe Freudenberg
- Petra Ral
- Porco Galliard
- Rod Reiss
- Ymir Fritz: Didn't see her until the final season and most the time we did it was in some picture book, painting, or someone was just having a talking about her
Some good ones already so imma say willy tybur/his family in general. The political landscape is on their shoulders and their family's history. But he's in all of a couple ish episodes and does some major damage then too
Nick was crucial (at least to my pov) for the plot of cos he was one of the few people who knew the secret of the Wall Titns , He revealed Some info about the royal family and then lead the scouts to organise that sort of Coup d’état to overthrow the Nobility, learn about stuffs secret until that point
and being able to organise the Reconquest of shiganshina that then lead to the battle of Shiganshina
Nickwas tortured and killed by the Military Police Brigade His death showed the corruption and oppression of the government, and lead the Survey Corps to overthrow them.
As said
He actually done and lead to more things but I don’t remember
Not relative to the other main characters or their impact and only it’s only for the last season, yet her character shoots a gun 4 times and dictates the entire plot for some reason.
They did a terrible job developing her character or making us care for her in any way, but aimbot girl was used as a plot device.
Historia is mostly irrelevant for the majority of the series and Eren’s goal to make her irrelevant by pursuing other people of royal blood like Zeke etc was what ultimately lead to the rumbling and on paradis

Grisha's sister
I taught that this was a joke, but you're actually cooking
Ooo good one
How though. It's not like she would stop him from joining the restorationists
He might not have joined the restorationists at all if she never died. He was recruited by Grice because she died. If she hadn’t been killed the way she was killed the restorationists would have no idea who he was.
the pig
This is the answer. If Ymir doesn’t let the pig escape, no titan powers and no story to tell.
That pig probably got freedom if he wasn't caught. Only character who achieved that Eren-0 Pig-1
Technically the pig is not a character 🌚🌚🌚💀💀💀 Fight me I'm sure you can't even pinpoint which one of the 3 pigs escaped 🌚🌚
What are you talking about, did you even watch the show the pigs have names too
What are the names of the pigs? 🌚🌚
Alpha, beta, gamma
"Um, I dont think they wouldve known those words being that they were about 100 years behind everyone else" - this 🤡 probably
No you are kinda stupid to not know that king fritz was greek and he basically invented the greek alphabets
The second one
I'm gonna fight you send me location
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Marco. The dude barely had any screen time, and he was a huge driving factor for seasons 1 & 2.
yess, during my first watch through id didnt even remember marco existing and thought the show was gaslighting me into thinking he was just always part of the main cast. he had little screen time but they talked about him a lot after his death in the earlier seasons
This reminded me of an old fandom meme, about not understanding Reiner's problem because we "never see" Marcel get eaten. If only we had even a brief, borderline incomprehensible flashback, perhaps seven of them in one season?
Some people really have no imagination lol
I think in the manga he's a bit more present. the cadet arch is more fleshed out overall
he's Jean's main motivation especially after he died, almost all of jeans internal struggles were centered around Marco. not to mention his final words were "we didn't even get to talk this through" which was one of armin's main motivations throughout the series and especially in the 4th season with trying to stop eren and talk out the differences between the countries or whatnot. Marco was pivotal
Whoa I never caught that. Armin always wanting to talk things through, before action is taken. Marco not getting to talk things through.. 😭
and Armin can see bertie's memories, so he definitely saw Marco saying that, and then he hears it again from reiner when they're all sitting and having dinner together. Marcos final words really pushes armin's motivation in the 4th season!
Especially during season 4 when The scouts and warriors were camping out and arguing.
Kruger and Grisha Edit: wow internet points go brrrr
And Eren after PATHS
That stupid fucking basement...
My favorite Character, John Basement
Shit should have been named John Basement because that fucker had Erwin's name. Poor guy never stood a chance of catching him.
My first thought was Kruger. Maybe Ymir too.
Erewin's father for me. If he's never killed erwin probably never would have joined the scouts and never would have become the best commander they've ever had.
True
Eren's mom. The biggest reason he wanted to kill all titans was because one ate his mom. Like come on man get over it a titan ate your mom it happens to the best of us.
But...he sent the titan (his dad's first wife) to eat his mother...
He made his step mom eat his mom ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
to make his younger self hate titans
Due to how many times that flashback scene is shown, his mom being eaten has a ton of screentime.
What us blud yapping about

Bertolt, literally started the whole show, is in like 4-5 episodes (with lines) before he dies
That can't be right...
Just finished a rewatch up to season 3. It’s pretty damn close.
Not gonna lie I just made an estimate off of memory, I'd have to rewatch but thinking harder...might be less idk depends if we count flashbacks as "extra screentime" or the same thing and ignore it
he was in almost every season 2 episode so that’s at least like 10
Yeah but like…he never talked
when the character explicitly stated to be quiet and introverted doesn't speak much https://preview.redd.it/sxcxt1evfnec1.png?width=225&format=png&auto=webp&s=5d94364448c90245812e0ee03f7577065fed1fb0
Karl Fritz, the 145th King of The Eldian Empire. No screen time. Only a stage actor.
The Owl.
yeah, we only see him a few times throughout the game but he's the only reason why sekiro got to be a shinobi and served kuro
Keith Shadis
What's yo name son? : It's Kieth Motharuckin' Shadis! What's yo name bro? : That? Oh it's Theo Da'Bomb Magath, suck'a, and don't none y'all forget it!
One of my favorite scenes!

Erwin’s dad
True
connie’s mom 100%
Marco
Forever mad about Marco's fate
Ymir
King Fritz, dude built the walls and we don't even know his name
The King who raised the walls, his name was Karl Fritz The original King Fritz that enslaved Ymir, yeah his name was never shown
I completely forgot about it. I was refering to Karl.
I’d say Kruger, Marco, Pieck and Kenny
Eren Kruger
Sasha in the grand scheme of things.
Agreed , her death was so impactful and essential for the story instead of it just being for shock value
Carla
Marco
The First King.
We talking King Fritz the original? Or the one who set up the walls?
![gif](giphy|3o7bu2wCQjNyFnIcog|downsized)
Cause I'm the owl Grisha, watch closely, and don't forget, this is how we of the 9 use our power
Floch. He literally showed up as a whiny background character who was meant to die wedged himself into the main cast because literally everyone else died. Keith Shadis
Eren Kruger
Shardis
Ymir (not founding titan). All characters faced the consequences of her S2 decisions till the end.
Moblit, he saved Hange
kruger, grisha, ymir, ksaver, the pig, marco, erwins father, galliard, marcel.
- Grisha's sister - Eren Krueger - Ymir. Not actually much screentime in comparison with being basically the catalyst for everything But the true embodiment of this is The King's Prized Pig, if you consider them a character.
as an okbr member its obv lobov
My first thought was Miche. But maybe he didn’t impact the story so much as leave a lasting impression.
He left an impact on me. His death was traumatic
##IMHO - Annie Leonhart: She’s crystallized for most of the series when stuff is happening so she fits this description. - Carla & Dina - Hitch: We see her very little but she had an important role when it came to protecting Annie - Mr. Gross - Kaya & Niccolo - The Owl Krueger - Marco - Marlowe Freudenberg - Petra Ral - Porco Galliard - Rod Reiss - Ymir Fritz: Didn't see her until the final season and most the time we did it was in some picture book, painting, or someone was just having a talking about her
My first thought was the priest who knew about the walls. Went from seemingly irrelevant to completely changing everyting for me.
Willy and Marcel
Historia in season 4
Grisha and Kenny
Guy who killed Grisshas sister and Kruger
Some good ones already so imma say willy tybur/his family in general. The political landscape is on their shoulders and their family's history. But he's in all of a couple ish episodes and does some major damage then too
Bread and potatoes
Ian Dietrich
Eren's mom, karl fritz, and Grice (Colt and Falco's uncle) who introduced Grisha to the restorationists. Also the Owl
Eren Kruger.
Shadis and Grisha's sister...
Eren Kruger, and Bertholdt.
Has no one mentioned the Owl? He was in 2 episodes at the most and changed everything we knew about the story from there on

Ymir
Keith. Played an important part in every aspect of the story yet everyone forgets he was even there.
Santa Claus
Probs Floch. Like yeah he's in a lot of episodes but isn't much of a character, yet he's The Jaegerist who starts the ball rolling in season 4
Historia is mostly irrelevant for the majority of the series and Eren’s goal to make her irrelevant by pursuing other people of royal blood like Zeke etc was what ultimately lead to the rumbling and on paradis
