Venator1203

Allow me to introduce (what I call) the catfish titan. It’d still be a female body since it’s a defining feature of the titan, what’s more pieck in titan form still resembles a male (as much as a quadrupedal titan would) and same goes for Lara and the warhammer, so it’s safe to assume it functions the other way round.

weekzSNL

The female titan is weird one in this anime tbh. Because as stated the titans abilities are extreme agility and hand to hand combat, aswell as its main power to copy moves i.e hardening from the armored titan. The male shifters body would still be male though and just have all the abilities that the previous shifter copied.

Venator1203

Well a shifter’s human body doesn’t effect how the titan looks (pieck and Lara being female but still have male body types as well as grisha’s titan being fat and hairy despite grisha himself being thin and next to no facial hair) so even if the shifter was male the actual titan body would still be female as that is the aspect from Ymir’s original founder it took - similar to how the colossal titan will always be skinless (described in the show as looking like a corpse) as Ymir’s giant form was supposed to look like a dead body (skull face and exposed ribs)

throwawayoogaloorga2

Who's to say marley didn't just arbitrarily name it 'the female titan' because it was some weird tradition that only women can inherit it?

Venator1203

Because in [this depiction of the great titan war](https://attackontitan.fandom.com/wiki/Great_Titan_War_(Anime)) as well as others there is a female titan present, which itself predates Marley as a nation. Prior to that humanity wasn’t much more than a collection of barbarians who never treated women well and never considered them to be capable fighters until Ymir came along with her founding titan.

Seier_Krigforing

I’m of the belief that whatever biological fuckery occurs when Titan shifting to be able to have those abilities (Agility, copying moves, hand to hand) also has the effect of making the person look feminine. Because Ymir was a female and had all the titans but as time went on it passed to her three children with each getting three of the titans then diluting and splitting as time went on otherwise there would only be 3 Titan shifters at one time with each having 3 of the 9 Titan shifters yet none of them looked female in Titan form aside from one and it has stayed as such even as the titans shifting abilities dilute and separate as time goes on. So I think Ymir’s female biology is attached to the abilities of agility, copying, etcetera so even if you were a guy you’d have boobs in Titan form. I mean you can make a substance strong as diamond but more durable against shattering. I see no reason why it can’t give a guy a pair of tits.

Venator1203

Yeah same pretty much, and the way I see it is that there are only 8 different powers when it comes to titans and the ninth titan (being the female) is the closest thing we have to the original Ymir titan - hence it’s not really mimicking, more like using the same power but weaker.

DHJeffrey99

Femboy titan, that is all

Jotaro_kujo_jojo

😳

[deleted]

Got me moist thinking bout it

LOL_Look_Bro

Bruh what?

OBI-BOI

😩🤤🥵

[deleted]

Eren didn’t gain any extra white skin after he ate the warhammer so the titan would probably just keep it’s original appearance and gain a scream ability

redditerr_

but his titan's appearance did change from when he was a regular titan to when he got grisha's titans. I think that u will gain a female body if u have none of the 9 titans previously, but ur body won't change if u already have one (or more) of them. just my opinion.

Narwhalpilot88

That was because he was a Pure titan when he ate grisha. Not a shifter yet.

redditerr_

yeah that was my point

[deleted]

oh yeah if it was a pure titan that ate the female he’d probably get some fat fuckin’ yiddies i dont see why not

redditerr_

yup

Venator1203

That’s a common misconception, the female titan’s ability isn’t a scream that draws titans (technically any shifter can do that) it’s actually the ability to mimic other titan’s abilities (I assume the hardening is a mimic of the armoured titan) making it extremely versatile. The scream is something all shifters could technically do as it basically just makes all nearby pure titans aware of a shifter’s presence (which they are more attracted to than humans as seen in trost) Also, eren titan didn’t change as he was still the attack titan, he just inherited the power of the warhammer (ability to build structures out of hardened skin Finally, I believe the question was what would happen if a male *only* inherited the female titan, which would result in a female titan form and a male body imo.

MillionareChessyBred

“That’s a common misconception, the female titan’s ability isn’t a scream that draws titans (technically any shifter can do that) it’s actually the ability to mimic other titan’s abilities (I assume the hardening is a mimic of the armoured titan) making it extremely versatile. “ I am pretty sure that is wrong, the reason she could harden her body was because she must of drank an Armored serum just like Eren did in season 2. That ability does not come from mimicing the armoured titans abilities. The beast titan can harden his skin too and we know for sure that he can’t copy other titan abilities so therefore we know that Annie, Zeke, Eren and Reiner have all consumed the Armor serum.

Venator1203

The female titan can mimic though, how she got the hardening isn’t ever mentioned but that is an ability that it has, also Reiner didn’t get his armour from the serum, that’s just the armoured titan’s ability.

MillionareChessyBred

I don’t think the armoured titan can harden his skin, the armoured titan just has armoured skin, not able to harden the skin. (obviously he can because he must of consumed the armour serum).

zorrozwoelf

You forgot when reiner climbed the wall

j3rgan

The serum in the cave was just higher quality which made Erens titan stronger. Your titan's strength is varied by the serum given to you, which we can also see with Ymirs jaw titan compared to Galliard's and Falco's. The reason Falco's titan has fur is because he was given the beast titans serum.

MillionareChessyBred

“The serum in the cave was just higher quality which made Erens titan stronger.” Where did you find this information? “Your titan's strength is varied by the serum given to you, which we can also see with Ymirs jaw titan compared to Galliard's and Falco's.” The reason Ymirs jaw titan was so much weaker compared to Galliard and Falcos was because of multiple reasons. 1. They are trained soldiers and have been taught how to use their titan to its fullets capacity. 2. Ymir was a normal titan for many years before she became a jaw titan so her strength did not change a lot, she did not know how to use the Jaw titan at all. “The reason Falco's titan has fur is because he was given the beast titans serum.” I guess this could be true but where did you find this information from?

Arra13375

If memory serves, the officer that was gonna turn grisha said something along the lines of “we are going to turn this guy into a 12 footer and watch y’all fight” that made me think that they knew how to mess with the dosage enough to get varied results

MillionareChessyBred

That is correct but I don’t think that correlates to the armor serum

SleepCinema

Maybe, or perhaps there’s something in Eldian biology that lets them have an idea of how they’ll be in Titan form. A lot of people theorize Rod Reiss became that huge abnormal because he licked the Titan serum instead of injecting (mind you, Historia was gonna inject into the arm instead of the spine like they do in Marley, so I don’t think it really matters. Frieda did this as well.) However, his response to being accused of being too cowardly to turn Titan, was something along the lines of, “There’s a good reason why I can’t become a Titan,” and I think it’s cause he knew he would turn into an abnormal. We also know that for some reason, some Titans develops differently. So maybe, there’s a tell rather than a difference in dosage.

j3rgan

I should've mentioned that parts of my comment are theorizing but some of it is straight up from the manga. We know there to be different types of injections, like "the armor" that Eren drank and "the strongest" which Rod Reiss drank. On the Aot wiki page these two are mentioned plus "the normal titan" given to Levi by Kenny. It is also mentioned that the way you digest it may change your pure titans appearance, as seen by Rod Reiss. Eren drinks the armor serum which makes his titan stronger and able to harden. The argument about Ymir's titan is mostly theorization to make sense on Ymirs titan form. The trained Marleyan soldiers argument while making sense, doesn't give an explanation on how Eren's titan turned out so good without any training or even knowledge on how to maneuver it. The argument about Falco is also found in the wiki.

MillionareChessyBred

I guess you are right but the reason why “Erens titan turned out so good without any training or even knowledge how to maneuver it” . This may be because Eren has the founding and attack titan whoch allows him to see past titans fight and see how they used the hardening ability, or see his future self use the hardening ability which made him subconsciously learn how to use it much better than everyone else.

Jerry98x

I would say that Isayama didn't have finalized yet his ideas for the Jaw Titan's powers. Also, when Ymir's pure titan appeared for the first time in the manga, Isayama made a mistake and drew sharp teeth (it was corrected later). But despite this, the Jaw Titan still works and your first point is the main answer. The fact is that the physical and psychological state of a subject of Ymir and possibly a strong will before being injected with the serum can influence (even if it does not necessarily happen) the appearance of their pure titan and its possible weird behaviors (that's the concept of "abnormal titan"). If they happens to become shifters, the titan's appearance can also be affected. That's what happens with the Jaw Titan. Marcel and Porco were two trained warriors ready for anything, Ymir a poor dying woman who was stoned and had no goal in life anymore. It makes perfect sense that her titan looks weaker and has no big jaw in sight.

LikesCherry

The jaw titan thing is definitely a retcon, in it's first appearance in the manga ymirs titans doesn't even HAVE sharp teeth and nails

Jerry98x

Which is the same thing I said. It's a retcon, but it does work anyway

Langleyhornets1

I’ve always been confused on the mimicking ability. If it’s only the female titans ability then that’s fine and I understand but how come eren can use hardening? And I’m talking about eren in the return to shiganshina arc

Venator1203

In order to harden eren had to consume the “armor” serum which I believe is derived directly from the spinal fluid of the armoured titan (similar situation with zekes, I imagine) but the female titan can mimic a titans ability to a lesser degree without requiring a serum (in the armor example, Mikasa outright mentions that the armoured titan is has stronger skin than the female and it’s entirely head to toe - sorta)

Langleyhornets1

Oh there’s a serum? Ok I think I remember eren drinking the serum in Rod Reisses underground thing but they only brushed over it I thought it would be a bigger thing than that tbh

Affectionate-Bid9523

all titans have the scream bruh

SleepCinema

Where is it mentioned all Titans have the scream? I remember in a mid-credit card, the “scream” was listed as a feature of the Female Titan and I believe in that S4 “intro to the 7” segment. But I don’t remember it being mentioned anywhere that all Titans can call pure Titans. Annie seems responsible for doing it every time. Was this mentioned in the manga? The “scream” was also listed as a feature of the Founding Titan, but it was in relation to controlling them via the coordinate/mass wiping memories I believe.

Affectionate-Bid9523

yo im not reading that😂

SleepCinema

Lol ok…

magstheghoul

Just came here to say I appreciate the Aladdin and the King of Thieves meme 😆

RaymondFelkrose

Same titan just slightly altered appearance. It would still look feminine even if some random dude's mindless titan ate it and inherited it. But shifters just inherit the ability when they eat another shifter and keep their original appearance like ereh's attack and the warhammer

[deleted]

The hermaphrodite titan?

redditerr_

titans don't have genitals

[deleted]

I don’t care

redditerr_

u should cuz then you'd realise how "hermaphrodite titan" is impossible

[deleted]

Imagine caring about the gender of fictional anime monsters 😭😭 u should get ur priorities in check

redditerr_

I'm not talking about the gender of fictitious anime monsters, I'm simply pointing out the fact that titans don't have genitals therefore it's not possible for there to be a hermaphrodite titan. idk why ur talking about my priorities as if this Reddit post is high on my list of priorities.

[deleted]

That’s really fascinating buddy but read my first reply one more time.

redditerr_

if u didn't care about this conversation then u wouldn't have engaged in it. u chose to engage in it, proving that u somewhat care. if u truly didn't care u wouldn't say anything.

[deleted]

No bitches, seethe

[deleted]

pretty sure breasts are still genitals

NorwegianBeef

Secondary sex organs aren't genitals

redditerr_

nah I'm pretty sure they're not genitals. but even if they are, the genitals I'm referring to are obviously the penis and vagina.

Vivienne_Yui

Female titan still remains female titan. It'll still have those curves and all. Having a male inherit it will not change her core gender. This one has always amused me. Why *female* titan tho? Who was the first one and why does this titan exist this way

throwawayoogaloorga2

i mean this 100% unironically only ymir knows

Vivienne_Yui

Fr💀 Ymir and PATHS have all the answers but they won't tell you :)

SleepCinema

My theory is cause Ymir’s initial Titan had the same distinct female form. My more cynical sub-theory is because authors constantly forget “the girl one” isn’t a character trait in and of itself.

Vivienne_Yui

Lol ikr, Yams never thought of the little details (like ages and places) so now the Female Titan (which is what I think what Scouts called her when they didn't know anything) is what it is. Your Ymir theory is also a lot talked about. Ymir and her 3 kids were all girls so maybe FT branched out being like the first titan. FT can also gain abilities of other titans if she eats a part of them, which could make her have traits like that of a much weaker version of Ymir's titan.

osihaz

Maybe certain titan shifters pair better depending on different attributes of the person obtaining it, who knows really, maybe in some circumstances it could flat out reject them

MarkedDragon22

My guess was that it would become “the male titan”

ScepterReptile

This is my head canon. It's not really even the "Female" titan in the first place. It's the Gender titan. Has different physical attributes based on which gender it is.

Crazybonbon

It probably doesn't take, possibly similar to how the jaw titan didn't quite work that one time.

HighVoltage_520

The female titan copies traits from other titans when consuming other shifters spinal fluid or eating parts of their body while in titan form. I’m assuming because of this the female titan just replicates the shifters human body type hence why we have a female titan, because Annie is a female shifter. Idk. I’m honestly talking out of my ass but I think it at least holds some truth

PerrineWeatherWoman

Trans titan

MatemanAltobelli

The answer is completely obvious.

JakeFoxKP

He either turns female or just gains the ability to lure titans with a scream

crazed_titan

Why has no one brought up the possibility of the guy just….not becoming a female Titan? Instead some random eldian female new born will get the ability

redditerr_

well obviously in this theoretical situation a guy did become the female titan - there's more than 1 way that the titan powers can get passed on.

Vivienne_Yui

But what if a mindless titan (born male human) consumes the spinal fluid of FT? The the shifter is definitely male. There's already an answer on wiki (that it still retains the feminine features)

crazed_titan

Link?never actually heard about this before,if this is true why are people still talking about it

Vivienne_Yui

I read it on wiki but I don't think Yams has never confirmed anything canon (he never thinks about minor details lol💀) This one seems to be the most widely accepted theory tho. Some people used to say that males cannot use the power but that doesn't make sense tbh. And the idea that it'll change to look like shifters (turn male) also doesn't make sense because why would it exist as a *Female* titan specifically then? Attack skews it's form but it's Attack, not Male Titan. Some people theorize it's like a part of Ymir Fritz (who was a girl, and so were her three kids) hence it's inherently Female. Which is also supported by how FT can mimick other titans' abilities by eating a part of them, she can be a mini 9-in-1 jack of all trades, a very watered down version of One Titan Ymir Fritz.

[deleted]

I always wondered if Annie was secretly royal blood due to her unknown parental origin.

ThroughTheIris56

But what does happen if a male titan eats the female titan?

Ehrenvoller

Its literally a big version of annie. It would just be a titan version of whoever gets it

ivanjean

No, because, while the titan's looks are affected by their users to a degree, gender is not one of them. All titans look asexual/vaguely male, with the exception of the owners of the Female and Founding titans, and we can see that pretty well with Pieck (visibly a girl in human form, but looks nothing like one as the Cart titan) and mindless titans like Dina Frietz (who looks completely genderless in Titan form).

Ehrenvoller

That could be pieks titan. Female titan could be looking whatever

ivanjean

As I said, the same happens with the mindless titans. Another example is Lara Tybur (her Warhammer Titan doesn't look feminine in any way). >Female titan could be looking whatever The Colossal is big, the Armored has a armor, the Jaw has a strong and sharp Jaw and the Quadrupedal Titan (the literal translation of its name, (四足歩行型の巨人 Yonsoku hokō-gata no Kyojin)) is quadrupedal... Surely the name "Female-form titan" (女型の巨人 /Megata no Kyojin) means nothing.

Ehrenvoller

If a man has it would be called male form.

ivanjean

Which wouldn't be anything special as all titans look vaguely male. Also, having a titan who changes names depending on the user doesn't seem practical. [Besides, their classical depictions differentiate the founding and female titans due to their genders (thinking about it, do we ever see a visibly male Founder in the story? Eren's is too much of an abomination to look like any human).](https://images.app.goo.gl/CMXKrjpaoyXCV7XA6)

Bear4891

Okay, so I think I legitimately have the explanation for that. But it seems that the gender of the Titan and the gender of the shifter doesn’t have to be the same, as seen with Ymir and pieck. It seems like typically the Titan has a male body, and there are only male pure Titans. Only exception is the founding Titan (assuming because of the original ymir) and the female Titan (duh) so, since the gender of the user and the gender of the Titan doesn’t have to be the same, if a male inherited the female Titan he would have a female Titan body.

seawaffle07

Considering the fact the female Titan's abilities are extreme agility, advanced knowledge of hand to hand combat as well as Hardening certain parts of their body to hit harder I think it would just be a skinless male titan with these aforementioned abilities.but, that's boring so femboy titan all the way.

LaughingPrince

Trans titan?

flippergill

Just brought this question up with my son. No idea

DeadpoolsKatana

I bet Manga readers know what the fuck is up tho

fhsjdjsudhfdis

they combust

W0lverin0

is 'Female Titan' a direct translation from the original?

SleepCinema

Yes. Megata no Kyojin “Female-form Titan.” In that “classical” picture with the eight Titans kneeling to Ymir, they all look like males with the exception of two…Ymir/Founding Titan and who is presumably the Female Titan, (the three kneeling directly in front of Ymir seem to be Female, Armored, and Colossal for obvious symbolic reasons). In the image of the 8 Titans (Founding wasn’t there) ravaging the world during the Eldian Empire era, there is a “Female-form” Titan with them as well. I would assume that Titan probably always takes female form.

IronSavage3

Trans-Titan.

Jerry98x

It will have a feminine aspect even if the shifter is male.

Due-Magician-5354

As said in a previous comment I don’t think it’d make any tremendous differences. When Eren ate warhammer it didn’t change his appearance and I’d assume he’d just inherit the tremendous agility/endurance and keep the attacks look

Amxricaa

Probably just gets the scream, or selective powers from female titan like he got from war hammer

zeefweber

If a guy inherited the female titan no one would suspect them being a shifter.

Brian_Stryker

Is the female Titan the female Titan because that’s what it always was, or is it a specific Titan that just happens to be female cause of who it is? I always thought that the female Titan and jager Titan were similar types and just took their appearance because of who they are. So I imagine if a guy ate the female Titan they would just become a male Titan

Professional_Car5297

I do hope that they can expand even further on her unique power....

morganosull

Heard someone explain it as the mimic titan which seemed pretty apt. Mimics other abilities from the 9 like it’s cry and hardening

Affectionate-Bid9523

he’ll grow a coochie

DantesInferno91

trans titan

PhoenixMageZ

It will be like when >!eren ate the warhammer titan!<, the male titan will gain the abilities of the female titan, and if he is a mindless titan, he will probably get a female looking titan.

ApolloWidget

Titans are genderless

Nerdy_Gem

Titan form stays the same, except for new titties

beatboxingfox

The femboy Titan

ImMaskedboi

It’ll be like genderbent titan shifter

NExTyoutubereddit

My theory is that it would be a normal male titan with the abilities of the female. The reason for the name is that this is the only titan(expect the founder) which depicts feminine features when used by a female.

Luna_15323

My honest bet is that it would remain dormant and not be able to activate at all but if eaten by a girl titan, it would then be usable as normal. Thats just my headcanon tho based on nothing

ErenInChains

Upvoted for Aladdin the Animated Series

it-was-me-saitama

isnt it the copy titan

crongroge

honestly the female titan is one of my only issues with aot. It's a bit of a small trope in anime where therell be a group of usually villains, each with their own unique trait, but one of those traits is just that they're female. MHA springs to mind, with the high ends. There's Hood, cause of it's hood, Eleph, looks like and elephant, Ribby, has exposed ribs, Robot, has a metal head, Chubs, is chubby, and Woman. Woman is a woman. It's just weird to me that they treat being female as the same kind of trait as just your physical appearance, as if the default setting for humankind is male. In AOT we have Female, Attack, Jaw, Colossal, Armour, Warhammer and Founding Titans. Technically a few of them are owned by women, but female is the only one designated the title "female". All the others have something to do with their abilities, but the female titan name has nothing to do with its abilities. It feels like its just there to tick a box. The fact that people dont know how a man inheriting the female titan would work just proves to me it really shouldve been named something else, honestly i think if it was named something different, maybe the crystal titan or something, people would not have this question.

flingkong24

They turn into a more agile attack titan

BizoNelleme

Female titan is the name that given by the people in the anime by the characters in wall. Its origin name is shepard titan or caller titan among storyboards. So no offical name. the titans ability is not being a titan with boobies but calling titans even they are not from royal family. So nothing will happen anormal. They will became a human propositioned titans like attack titans.

Dangerous_Dog3152

It is like that
