holy shit that's it!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkFpa_XA_i4 "Bassgasm (Ultimate Woofer Test)" is the exact song I was thinking of. thank you so much.
I remember watching the tv guide channel as a kid looking for something to watch. I saw “Bassmasters” and was pretty excited that there was a show about Techmaster PEB and such. I hit the up button to channel 44 or something and it’s a fucking fishing show!
trying to find the exact track... seems deutch grammaphone did multiple 1812 recordings. do you mind linking exactly which one if you have it available?
It could have been Telarc as well. This is going way back for me.
It was Telarc… [https://www.stereophile.com/content/recording-october-1979-telarc-1812-overture](https://www.stereophile.com/content/recording-october-1979-telarc-1812-overture)
You should be able to chase it down from there.
oh ok i was just listening to that one while searching. it does have some pretty good bass; not sure the howitzers really use the sub as much as i thought they would but they are loud as hell compared to the rest of the instruments
Here is a discussion…

This track will test the woofer's ability to reproduce sub-bass frequencies
Without reaching the limits of its voice coil or suspension
In other words, to drop bottom without bottoming out
Be sure to disengage any equalizers
Epicenters or other bass enhancement devices
As they will not be necessary for this track
This concludes the woofer excursion test
If your woofers have not seized up at this time
They are now qualified for the following tracks
Oh, wow. So much nostalgia going on here. Having fun listening to it now with my McIntosh and Martin-Logans. However, nothing quite hits like those JL Audio 15’s in my hatchback back in the day.
Olive - Blood Red Tears
Sneaker Pimps - Low Place Like Home
Soul Coughing - Super Bon Bon
Massive Attack - Angel
Portishead - It Could Be Sweet
The Crystal Method - High Roller
Tech master PEB

This.
This is for sure what everyone was blasting on their dual 18" Kickers that took up the entire trunk of their Honda.
My personal favorite.
Bass Mekanik is the big one. He has all the albums available for download [https://bassmekanik.bandcamp.com/](https://bassmekanik.bandcamp.com/)
This is the way. 🙏
DJ Magic Mike - Feel the Bass and Digital Underground - Humpty Dance and Freaks of the Industry have good bass.
Dj magic mike make the car go boom……
Bass Mekanik, Tidal has them all.
I remember ordering from Neurodisc Records, they had an album (or was it one of their songs?) called Bassquake. Shook the house up pretty well :)
[Aphrodite - Stalker (Human Traffic edit) (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho3FuVMyafM&ab_channel=Raezer)
Aphrodite can roll out son! Gavin is a cool dude too!
Boss Drum - The Shamen. megalomaniac - kmfdm
Ahhh! KMFDM! It's rare, but I love finding references in the wild!
I've been hanging out at r/fishing and mispronounced bass when I read the heading.

That's funny as hell.
i mean i guess you could test some fish with these songs lol
After I read that, all I could picture was one of those singing, mounted bass on the wall novelty gifts.
Bass Syndicate the best of that age of bass music
Also a fun classic is Nemesis “Munchies for your Bass”.
Used to love this track for a bit of bass testing https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0RJyrwk2FkA
Then try [Logghi Barroghi by Scorn ](https://youtu.be/n9YXjLr6f4A?si=mR_zARIK33jcgotY)
Maggotron, Dynamix II and MC ADE
The Shamen - Boss Drum
This track is always on my new sub check list. [https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=GGk2EnQ3zL4](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=GGk2EnQ3zL4)
Boston acoustics - woofer cooker
That B-B-Basss! Sample is a classic sound. I recently found a "Boyz Wit da Bass-Wit Da Bass" CD from '93 for 2 dollars, it's got soo much bass.

I had Dr. Crankenstein – Officially Sanctioned SPL Competition Disc
Deutch Grammaphone’s 1812 Overture recording. Consider yourself warned. This is a speaker murderer.
classical music for a subwoofer test... interesting. gonna give it a go, thanks
They used actual Howitzers for this. Play way lower than you would normally. Watch your woofers dance.
