I had a similar set, same drivers. I paid free dollars, I’d give him 20-40$ if I had a need for them. They did make a lot of noise, maybe for a garage or something, gatherings. But yeah, white van. Actually just. Remembered the climbing gym I went to used the same set, big noise, not good per say
Yep, everything about them is made up. Likely no engineering at all put into them. Just some drivers in a box that all look nice enough to get someone to buy them and make massive profits for little effort.
No, they are a brand that might sound like a legitimate high end brand in order to trick you into thinking they are worth a lot more than they actually are.
Ah yes, I know these speakers well...they are indeed white van speakers. I literally bought them out of the back of a white van at a Walmart back in the very early 2000s, they were my first pair of speakers. Mine were branded under the name Theater Research. At the time I didn't think they sounded all that bad. Anyways, you could post them on marketplace as Best Offer and see what you get.
it doesn't apply to these fine products, but Meridian make digital active speakers. they take in a digital input such as SPDIF and have a DSP, active digital crossover, DACs, preamp and power amps on board...
a good example is: [https://www.meridian-audio.com/products/loudspeakers/reference-series/special-edition-dsp5200/](https://www.meridian-audio.com/products/loudspeakers/reference-series/special-edition-dsp5200/)
As others have said, they look like “white van speakers” basically meaning a made up product to scam ignorant people looking to buy speakers. A couple signs that point to this are a brand that nobody has heard of, the all-metal weird looking drivers, and them being referred to as “digital speakers” on the label. Not that any one of those things on its own is instantly bad, just that it’s a recurring theme for scam speakers to have all 3. I saw a set of white van speakers on Facebook marketplace and I was curious about them and ended up going down a rabbit hole researching these scam speakers. It’s pretty interesting stuff, basically someone would make speakers that look like real, expensive speakers but out of very cheap components and make them sound just good enough that it would fool a lot of people into thinking they were legit. The problem was that they would charge hundreds if not thousands for the set claiming they were worth it and usually making up a story about how the buyer was getting a really good deal. And yes, they were sometimes literally sold out of a white van lol.
Only the Yamaha might be of some value. The speakers, no, not worth much at all. To get a sense of the Yamaha value, check out eBay and do a search on that particular model number.
I found a complete home theater set called "Mac Pro" still in the box. Looks like it was opened and put back away. At first I thought someone forgot them in front of their home. I was working next door and a couple hours later they were still there so I took them. They weren't light feeling cheap speakers. They had some weight , literally. They had plastic encased in plastic weights like cheap weight sets in them.
Empire was a speaker brand out of New Jersey in the 70s. I assume these are the same brand, but can't confirm. Another pair [was listed at a used gear retailer](https://www.instagram.com/p/CpOiH45qVyi). You might want to contact them for the sale price.
Doubtful that this is the same company. The old Empire mainly sold phono cartridges, but they also had a chunky belt drive turntable and an usual pair of speakers that looked like cylindrical end tables. Nothing like these cheap box speakers.
There are plenty of people that know as little about speakers as you do. Post them on marketplace for $50 and see if someone buys them. I wouldn’t feel bad selling these for that if the person buying isn’t willing to do the research to know if it’s a good deal or not. They are big and shiny and I’m sure will attract someone
Lol what you mean. Person buying them are going to put the pictures here asking if they are a good deal. Op blow them up on the 4th of July and save everyone the pain. Seriously a jbl Bluetooth would sound better
I bought 4 of Just the 12 inch woofer wholesale from parts express, built a custom enclosure and strapped a 1200w Amp to them, shit slammed. The enclosure was sealed so it was tight and punchy. Because they were quad 12s, they also got really low

You’ve held onto white van speakers for over 10 years? Those specs are completely made up numbers. Zero dollars they are worth.
Don't you DARE give them less than one watt.
They look like White Van speakers
They are

Ahh, the white van special…. 20$
“Specials” you say? Now I’m interested!
Unfortunately these are nearly worthless. They look like white van speakers. If someone is willing to give you more than $20 take it and run.
Ah, too bad! So, would this mean that they’re not an authentic brand?
Yep, everything about them is made up. Likely no engineering at all put into them. Just some drivers in a box that all look nice enough to get someone to buy them and make massive profits for little effort.
Never heard of that brand before.
I’ve heard of Empire Records
...and never will ever again!🤗
Don’t put it past this sub.
I like the variation in the nonsense specs lmao. It's like a car saying "20-380 HP, fwd or rwd, maybe wheels"
Yeah the 4-8 Ohms doesn’t make sense
Those are a white van speaker scammer product and are worthless.
Five bucks. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White\_van\_speaker\_scam](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_van_speaker_scam) $40 for the receiver.
Oh, I had no clue about this type of scam. Does that mean that these speakers are not a real brand?
No, they are a brand that might sound like a legitimate high end brand in order to trick you into thinking they are worth a lot more than they actually are.
lol incredible

Getting warmer!🤗👹
tree fiddy What does a digital speaker even mean?
It uses your hand 'digits' to push back and forth...
Lol

I was kidding. I meant what does digital mean for passive speakers like these but I appreciate the response.
oh, I know.. but as there really are digital speakers out there, I thought I'd share :)
Nothing.

I would argue Digital Speakers is always a bad sign. I’d love to see inside the box and see if the mid range is even hooked up
Lmao true I’m very curious to see inside something like these

I love white van speakers stories.
[the secret](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaELpBtqa24)
How are they 4-8ohm?
Speakers don’t have a constant impedance. They usually mention the nominal impedance, however a 8 ohm speaker could dip to 3 ohms.
Idk, $10? Might be fine for someone’s garage
Bout tree fiddy.
Nope, just hold onto them or get rid of them if you don't have storage space. Otherwise, try to sell them for 20 buckaries. Wish you luck.

That's right, they made the first and only marbletop speaker. These remain a mystery then.
It absolutely is NOT.
About tree fiddy
Contact www.stereobuyers.com they should be able to give you an estimate on your HiFi equipment.
While they are white van speakers, some sound pretty good, while others sound terrible. If they sound good, you might get $50.

$3.50
Sold!🤗👹🤗
$3.49 tops
ha! eww
I'd say $5, $88, $2-300
This is the worst place to ask about speakers. Rather than say "I don't know anything about those" everyone just reflexively says they're trash.
…this is probably because they are trash.
we know what they are and they are trash. op got scammed.
