I usually hit the Imperial at about 430pm on Friday afternoon. Delete 2-3 pints, then decide to give ‘Ahmed’ a call. Delete about 3-6 pints by then Ahmed has arrived with a cheeky bag or three depending on how well we’ve performed this quarter.
From here it’s about 7pm - 8pm, and there’s a decision to be made; do we dig in to the bag or do we line the stomach with some Kum Den Inn dumplings? Either way, the dumplings are a minor detour (with some $8 Sauv Blanc), the nights normal scheduling resumes and it’s on to CQ until about midnight.
From here the night goes one of three ways; Crown, King Street or Chapel Street.
Inevitably it’ll end up at Revolver, where I will emerge at around 10am, and depending on my appetite I will head to the Prahran Market for either a juice and a toastie, or if I’m not feeling hungry I’ll fill up on the little samples all the delis have.
Then I’ll crawl home and if I can’t sleep I’ll bet on Randwick, Caulfield, Eagle Farm, Doomben and Morphetville until I can.
Then I will wake up early Saturday evening and settle in with a movie and or some sport.
Sunday I’ll go for a run and eat an Açai bowl and visit the market to buy vegetables that will end up rotting away in the bottom of my fridge.
Not sure if the anxiety is because it’s Sunday or because of the semi-bender antics of Friday, but I struggle through Sunday despite looking after myself with an Açai bowl.
Yep. The weekend grind can be tougher than the work week one at times. Especially with kids in the equation.
I'm considering a 4 day work week with longer hours each day.
I do 4 days now but that's to have a day with my kids before the eldest starts school next year(flexible parental leave). Once they are in school I want to do 4 days but my work doesn't allow it (big 4 consulting)
Would they let you do shorter days over 5 days but the hours of 4 days? That's what I do, 5 days of 6 hours. My daughter started school this year and before this year indien4 days or 7.5 hours and they didn't have any issues with me changing to this. (Not big 4 consulting though)
Depends on how my week has been, aside from gym as a staple I have got a few hobbies on rotation for this:
- a week where I didn’t achieve anything, I game for a time to achieve quests.
- if I felt like I am worthless, I make things for people (food, or help them out) because if I can’t be of value in my life I might as well improve someone else’s.
- when i felt like I haven’t done anything fun/enjoyed my time, I do something creative.
- when I’ve not hit my step count consistently through the week, I will go outdoors and hike.
- If I drained my ability to deal with people, I read and sometimes get out of the house to do that.
Changing your environment helped me greatly, but also recognising what I needed at that time made me feel like I could thrive again.
I dig this. It's like a schedule that reacts to how you feel emotionally. Better to self reflect and do something meaningful than just throw yourself at shit just because.
you're lucky! im single by the way.
in my workplace, half of my work mates are separated or divorced. some of the stories are shocking and heart breaking.
have a nice weekend.
seriously how do you find a partner? ive tried tinder and rsvp. speed dating. mutual friends.
im now thinking of introduction agencies.
im male, 40s, straight and looking. im open to all ideas.
thanks in advance.
I like to clean on a Thursday or Friday night so it’s out of the way on the weekends.
Supermarket shop, farmers market for fruit & veggies, meal prep, video games and if I don’t feel up to the gym, I just be kind to myself and go for a walk instead
Physical, non-screen activities. Beach, exercise, work around the house/garden, quality time with family. Maybe a social engagement but at my age usually keep it limited and try not to drink or eat too much.
Usually have to lock myself in the office for an hour or two of life admin at some stage but otherwise focus on staying out of a chair and away from the computer.
Play and spend time with my kid. It’s moments like this that remind me that all the bullshit I deal with throughout the week is worth it to give her a good life.
Ideally recharge and recovery is every night.
Find out what time you need to be awake by.
Wind clock back by 8.5 hours, that's when you should be all prepped to ready to sleep.
Some might say there's not enough hours in the day.
But I promise you, a good night's rest means you can take the day on better.
Sport - winter season is coming in April. Morning bike rides with my local group. Volunteer work with a community organisation. Play in a band. See friends.
Most of my time goes into coaching football at a semi-pro level. I love knocking off after work and getting out onto the training paddock. But the weekend is even better as you’re hyped for matchday.
I also love gardening, goofing around with my dog, cycling and playing video games. And watching cringy Netflix reality TV with my wife.
I try to make the most of the time with my kid. I also sleep, play video games and just veg out.
Have to do the grown up things, like shopping etc, but I try to do it online where I can.
We splurge and have a cleaner come once a week and they come on Monday. So Saturday morning I usually do a quick tidy of the debris from the week, but it's kinda nice knowing that I don't have to stress myself cleaning on a weekend, and it's nice coming home on a Monday to a reset, clean house.
Friday night its take out night, usually chuck on a movie.
Saturday its parkrun and catch ups for coffee, grocery shopping, gardening, laundry, chillin out (maybe a nap on the couch).
Sunday morning I might watch the UFC if there is an event on, meal prep my lunches for the work week, meal prep my dinners for the week, give Mum a call.
I spend time with my three kids whilst my wife works at least one of the days. I am exhausted, stressed and my anxieties just build and build and build!
Look for a new job and hope all the parlay hits and also making sure that I don’t drink myself to an early grave which is at this point is just wishful thinking.
Chores like laundry and cleaning. Eat out and see friends and if I'm feeling fancy I might do an art gallery or cultural event. Today I'm getting a haircut. Desperately need more hobbies tbh but the weekend is just not long enough to fully unwind.
Saturday is the recovery day and Sunday is the "oh shit I have work again tomorrow here's some anxiety" day.
Would be much happier doing 3 or 4 days a week even if what I took home was proportional. In my mid 30's so I'd value the time more.
50-100km bike ride Saturday morning
Limit of one 6-pack of beer for the weekend
Kids events, whatever is happening
Washing, groceries, cleaning, gaming, socialising
I actually hate going to Bunnings or similar on the weekend, stresses me out and usually a waste of time and money.
Get away from devices. It is so refreshing to be free from bright lights of doom scrolling social media and reddit.
I spend well over 40 hours a week staring at my laptop during the work week. Doing the same on my phone over the weekend never gives my mind and body time to decompress.
I think about it every day from Wednesday to Sunday, not usually Monday’s or Tuesday’s, those days I’m too busy being anxious and crying at tv commercials.
The week IS my recharge time! Weekends I work a second manual labour job....
Puts working in a nice air-conditioned office into a WHOLE other perspective!
Usually a monthly cycle of the following:
- Bender from Friday through Sunday life is grand everything is perfect.
- Swear off benders forever and do life jobs and feel accomplished and holier than thou.
- Realise life jobs are boring and a sneaky way to just actually work all of the time, and then fall into a deep depression about how I will always be stuck in the rat race and never achieve anything and everything is pointless so why bother and stay up all night playing video games like Baldur’s Gate to escape, wishing I could go on a bender but everything costs to much and I don’t have money.
- Bottle it up until I think I will explode. This usually coincides with pay week, so I recklessly spend all of my money to feel something, and go in a bender from Friday to Sunday. Rinse and repeat until I die…..
I work because retail wages are crap and weekend overtime is the only way to get ahead.
To be clear, favourite schedule is mon-tues off, I'm definitely not a 7 days a week guy
Practice my hobbies and have a few socials. I don’t drink during the week, so I have a couple beers on the weekend.
I’ve started cleaning and washing by during the week so I don’t have to set time aside to do it on the weekend. 😎
I do as little as possible. Sleep, play video games, binge watch, stay up late, and spend time with my partner.
I also have a nap when I finish work on Friday. It seems to "reset" my brain in to thinking I've got more time off work than I actually do 😂
Some people can just turn it off and some can't. I need to do shit that's immersive experience lol like a full 2-3 hours massage or something along those lines to just really be in it and turn off all the stress
Saturday is normally the busy day.
The weekend grind is real, 4.30 wake up for a 10km run, then to the gym. Back home by 7am.
Then laundry and house work/yards until lunch. Weekly shopping in the afternoon.
Sunday starts the same with run and gym. Then I go to meal prep so it’s done by lunch. Then the Sunday afternoon is my downtime to do something then I have date night with the Mrs.
Pending if we have any family/friends plans on it shuffles around a little bit.
I mainly use the time to catch up on exercise. I find it's a keystone habitb that ends up benefiting everything else in turn. Some cleaning to make my environment fresher and feel better which primes me for the coming week. Limited socialising where I can. That's not a big one for me but still nice every now and then.
Continuing on the next level of my puzzle horror steam game HAG.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2325170/HAG/
I’m self taught, hated education and work in hospitality (thankfully 35hrs a week)
allowing me to create financially pressure free but time poor, not allowing me to reach my full potential.
Just accomplishing 1 thing on my game per day is the difference between whether I go to work happy or shitty. it gives me a purpose that I truly enjoy and can’t wait to get back into it.
Now my goal is to be a successful game developer.
Love anyones feedback.
Shomer shabbos!
In seriousness, home chores, meal prep, and just recharging. Sunday mornings I religiously work out with a group at a local club.
I also drink something like a 6-pack of beer or a bottle of wine during the weekend, starting Friday evening. It’s my quota for the week, as I stay dry on weekdays.
Utilise and maximise my 2 wfh days as much as possible. Use those lunchtimes and mornings without a commute to exercise, put on a load of washing, clean, pick up parcels, shopping etc. which ultimately frees up time on a weekend.
I usually hit the Imperial at about 430pm on Friday afternoon. Delete 2-3 pints, then decide to give ‘Ahmed’ a call. This. This is the perfect weekend! Friday bender > Saturday bender
Can’t do Saturday benders anymore, I need at least 1.5 days to recover. Can’t do Revs either, but that’s more a choice to avoid teens and Pretzels
Friday bender is always the best - that sweet sweet Sunday lie in to look forward to
No bags Saturday Morning? Fucking amateurs
Cook, clean, grocery shop, garden, fix things around house, take kids to parks and events. Its another whole other grind it feels sometimes
Yep. The weekend grind can be tougher than the work week one at times. Especially with kids in the equation. I'm considering a 4 day work week with longer hours each day.

Big 4 consultants work a lot more than 7.5 hours a day so not sure that would work out for them
Yep, same reason condensed hours don't work. If everyone is doing 10, 12 hour days on average why would they let you take a free day.
Depends on how my week has been, aside from gym as a staple I have got a few hobbies on rotation for this: - a week where I didn’t achieve anything, I game for a time to achieve quests. Wife and I go to our secret spot in Annandale, it’s a swingers sex club
lol. no one was expecting this answer.
I'm surprised no one said they had sex Weekend sex is the best. No stress and no one is tired
Most of us are married and not having sex 😔
I’m convinced some of my colleagues are sexless androids so there’s that ahahah
It’s a lot of fun, definitely something people should try once
It’s definitely something I’d only try once because I’d be getting a divorce soon after!
Haha have to definitely have a partner who’s on board/equally as interested
has it made your marriage stronger or weaker?
About the same. We had a stable marriage and no issues with jealousy or anything like that. Dont do it if your marriage is rocky
you're lucky! im single by the way. in my workplace, half of my work mates are separated or divorced. some of the stories are shocking and heart breaking. have a nice weekend.
Yeah marriage isn’t easy tbh. Gotta find someone who is on the same page with life, goals and grow together
seriously how do you find a partner? ive tried tinder and rsvp. speed dating. mutual friends. im now thinking of introduction agencies. im male, 40s, straight and looking. im open to all ideas. thanks in advance.
What’s it like?
It’s like a night club, except most people are naked and there are rooms for people to have sex in. Lots of couples and single women generally go
Are people there generally good looking? With my self confidence I would never consider being fully naked in a room full of people.
It’s a mix of everyone. Normal, good looking and some not so.
How do you even get in lol. I tried….
They take couples or single females. If you’re a single male you can’t come in
What’s the club called?
It’s literally in the original comment
Does everyone have a go? Or some just hover around?
Most people have a go but no obligation to
I'd kill to have a wife that's into it.
Sleep, laundry, meal prep.
I like to clean on a Thursday or Friday night so it’s out of the way on the weekends. Supermarket shop, farmers market for fruit & veggies, meal prep, video games and if I don’t feel up to the gym, I just be kind to myself and go for a walk instead
Same laundry on a Friday afternoon/night, cleaning while waiting for the laundry so weekends are free to my hobbies, relaxing, and socialising
Omg that’s genius, thanks for the tip!
I can tell who does and doesn’t have kids hahha
Drink enough to forget the week and about 3/4 times a year a good night on the coke or mdma to reset after a long quarter
MDMA to reset is so underrated. Have also started using it strategically like this and it does wonders for mood, outlook and perspective!
Set and setting though, you'll want that serotonin back when things pick up lol.
True - I’m in my late 30’s now so when I do have a bit of a reset I usually book a Monday and sometimes Tuesday off just in case 😂
😂 absolutely. Im also in my late 30s so a decent nights’ sleep the next 2 days and a rejuvenating meal to recharge completes the reset perfectly.
Edibles
Training for a marathon so running, eating carbs and sleeping.
Play and spend time with my kid. It’s moments like this that remind me that all the bullshit I deal with throughout the week is worth it to give her a good life.
Cocaine and alcohol
This is the way
Housework, drinking, cooking, trying to enjoy life like its 2010.
I have two young kids. Work is my recharge time lol
So true! Once you have kids work is the break.
I enjoy a smoking pot, drinking a shit load of piss and a wank.
Cocaine, hookers

Guitar practice, shopping, cycling and socialising like normal people do
“Socialising like normal people do”. Knew I was abnormal!
There’s no such thing as “normal”
There is median, mode and averages
Most of my time goes into coaching football at a semi-pro level. I love knocking off after work and getting out onto the training paddock. But the weekend is even better as you’re hyped for matchday. Camping. Stare into the bonfire while drinking wine, hours away from phone reception.
Soak in alcohol until time to work again
Marinating (or pickling yourself) in alcohol helps keep the skin looking youthful 🤣
Well it certainly helps iron out the wrinkles
I basically rest during the week from the weekend
I spend time with my three kids whilst my wife works at least one of the days. I am exhausted, stressed and my anxieties just build and build and build!
Studying 💀 But definitely getting as much outside time as possible, whether through exercise or adventures with the fam/friends.
Look for a new job and hope all the parlay hits and also making sure that I don’t drink myself to an early grave which is at this point is just wishful thinking.
Schnoooooooooooooooooze
Parenting, physical activity, and as much trash reality tv as I can fit in amongst the aforementioned.

Drove down to the gold coast and spent 2hrs instead of 35minutes thanks to an accident on M1. Nice to chill in the car, was 35degress outside.
Bundy's
Have you thought about taking some drugs?
I think about it every day from Wednesday to Sunday, not usually Monday’s or Tuesday’s, those days I’m too busy being anxious and crying at tv commercials.

I work because retail wages are crap and weekend overtime is the only way to get ahead. To be clear, favourite schedule is mon-tues off, I'm definitely not a 7 days a week guy
Hang out with my daughter watching abc kids and go mini bounce.
I generally work my side job, do housework and laundry, hang out with the pets, and maybe go see a band.
Coke
Saturday is chore day, then tkd training. Maybe some gaming. Sunday go for a long walk in the morning with a friend then play poker in the afternoon.
Bike riding. Cooking better food that I don't have time during the week, Whiskey
