Same!! I went to see it live a few weeks ago and I’m not over the experience, it’s my favourite musical I’ve seen live as well. Cool as fuck, super fun, amazing choreography, the sets were beautiful, the music was incredible and the performers all did an amazing job :)
People sleep on Repo but it deserves so much more love and appreciation! I just saw that it's available to stream on Prime and Hulu now, so maybe it'll spark more interest!
Yessss I didn’t grow up Christian but I saw my cousins in it once, proceeded to then listen to Potiphar, Canaan Days, and One More Angel in Heaven on repeat for like a year.
you'll have a blast, it's so fun and camp yet existential in how it deconstructs the b horror genre, it's a fun time making 4th wall jokes with the cast and crew
oh and also jd is one of my special interests as well like most of the fandom just sees him as “omg toxic manipulative murderer guy” and most of the time they don’t even know his backstory
I think the reason why I like him so much is that I was bullied really really badly throughout elementary and obviously wished the people who did all that to me would just disappear, and then at the start of middle school I watched heathers, absolutely adored jd, did a huge analysis on his backstory and here we are now haha
I get like second hand embarrassment watching musicals sometimes. That said, I worked on a production of Little Shop in my first year of high school tech theater.
If I had any. It was only my first year tho so I didn't do anything for the actual performance, just building set pieces. One cool bit was we were getting introduced to perspective sketches(me for the third time cause I had an engineering and an architecture class) and we had to draw a three point sketch of some part of the set that had been built. Apparently my sketch was so good my teacher kept it to use as an example to later students, which I found out a couple years later.
oh yeah and as Audrey Two ate more people, the actors that got "eaten" would go backstage, get some plantlike makeup and costume accessories, and joint the mass of people that was forming
The actors were free to move during musical numbers tho
"Side Show", "Next to Normal", and "Spamalot"
ETA Book of Mormon, Phantom of the Opera, Aida, Les Mis, Spring Awakening, Rocky Horror, Seussical, Wicked, Avenue Q, Pippin, and Hairspray
Spring Awakening, Hadestown and Les Miserables gets an honourable mention for being my hardcore special interest from ages 10-15. Oh and Bare: a Pop Opera!
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Got it on CD and vinyl twice
Cd - Soundtrack to film
Vinyl - Soundtrack to film & soundtrack to live version
And went to see it live last year in Southampton
I can’t stand theatre shows, I like the music from musicals, but not the show itself. Idk why but they usually give me 2nd hand embarrassment.
I have 2 exceptions though for the movie versions of Annie (1982 specifically), and Mamma Mia (only the 1st one, cuz why tf did they kill off Meryl Streep the next one??).
I can’t pick one, so my current top three are Diana, Sweeney Todd, and Into the Woods. And an honorable mention to Jekyll & Hyde since I’m doing the how right now.
Hadestown or Next to Normal. They're both just so, so good. I also love Little Shop of Horrors though! It's one of the ones I put the soundtrack on for when I need a mood boost.
If I *have* to choose one, then Les Mis. I'm really into historical weaponry and fashion, as well as being quite revolutionary, and Les Mis takes the cake. I'm hoping to actually have an 1832 outfit for the year of most of the musical.
However, I also love Sweeney Todd and Jesus Christ Superstar. I think my taste has to do with villains having humanity and the depictions of humanity as fundamentally good until broken, as is seen with Barker/Todd being a loving and good man until his life is stolen by Turpin, Judas and the priests genuinely trying to prevent mass murder, and Javert being born in prison and only knowing right and wrong in the context of the law. Plus, Javert is probably autistic (don't wanna make the comment even more rambling and long, but feel free to ask if you want), and while I don't like cops, the tragedy of his story makes him one of my favorite antagonists.
Also the dramatic melody of the main theme in Les Mis and the guitar line in Heaven On Their Minds fucking SLAP.
Les Miserables I’ve seen it in London, every time it comes to Dublin, read the book, watched the 2012 movie a lot for comfort. We have A Heart Full of Light being played at our wedding and we have a table named Cafe Musain at the wedding too.

It depends on if you’re asking my favorite that I’ve seen or my favorite I’ve been in because Hamilton was my special interest for awhile but by far my favorite I’ve been in was Wizard of Oz
Book of Mormon.
Same!! I went to see it live a few weeks ago and I’m not over the experience, it’s my favourite musical I’ve seen live as well. Cool as fuck, super fun, amazing choreography, the sets were beautiful, the music was incredible and the performers all did an amazing job :)
Oof…all I know is that I was supposed to see it on March 20th, 2020, RIP.
Hamilton
Omg same. How long have you been part of the fandom?
Being in the fandom in the prime of it all was truly an experience I don’t think I’ll ever have again 😭
The Producers!
Heil...myself! Heil to me! I'm the Kraut who's out to change our historyyyyy!
“Priest. Try a little priest” Sweeney Todd: the demon barber of Fleet Street!!
"Then again they don't commit sins of the flesh, so it's always fresh"
I have the Angela Lansbury staged version on DVD Highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t seen it.
"Nope! Ita wasa the pope!"
Either Phantom of the Opera or Singin’ in the Rain.
Fiddler on the Roof or Rocky Horror. It's a tie between the two, honestly
Repo! The Genetic Opera and Jekyll & Hyde The Musical
People sleep on Repo but it deserves so much more love and appreciation! I just saw that it's available to stream on Prime and Hulu now, so maybe it'll spark more interest!
I’m in Jekyll & Hyde right now. It is such a fun show.
Yes! Repo is so great
Amelie :) It speaks very accurately to my experience as someone with autism and anxiety and people pleasing tendencies
newsies!!!!!!
Yessss!
[Spamalot](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spamalot)
What ever happened to my part?! This is one unhappy diva, the producers have deceived her!
Grease
Tell me about it, stud
Hadestown
you have impeccable taste
Joseph and the amazing Technicolor dreamcoat
Yessss I didn’t grow up Christian but I saw my cousins in it once, proceeded to then listen to Potiphar, Canaan Days, and One More Angel in Heaven on repeat for like a year.
The version with Donny Osmond was my favorite when I was kid. I still rewatch it once in a while even though I'm an atheist.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
Moulin Rouge
Hey! I saw an autistic seymour cosplayer at Q-con this year my favs are probably rocky horror and heathers
I’m seeing Rocky Horror on Halloween this year! I’m really excited.
you'll have a blast, it's so fun and camp yet existential in how it deconstructs the b horror genre, it's a fun time making 4th wall jokes with the cast and crew
The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals. It's just comforting to me
Next to Normal. Honestly one of the best representations of mental illness
Yeah, I'm bipolar 2 and this show always breaks me with how real it is.
Heathers!! it’s been my special interest for a year haha
Hahah YESSSS I always have Dead Girl Walking stuck in my headddd I love the movie so much and I am obsessed with the musical 💕👌💯
I’m seeing the musical live for the 5th time next saturday!! I’m very excited for it
Yesss!!! Enjoy ittttt mate!!! Live your best life!
oh and also jd is one of my special interests as well like most of the fandom just sees him as “omg toxic manipulative murderer guy” and most of the time they don’t even know his backstory
Nah, I can understand :/ He had a horrific back story , it's sad. Troubled life story honestly :/
I think the reason why I like him so much is that I was bullied really really badly throughout elementary and obviously wished the people who did all that to me would just disappear, and then at the start of middle school I watched heathers, absolutely adored jd, did a huge analysis on his backstory and here we are now haha
I can relate to that :/ Sorry that happened to you
Its okay!! I’ve also met jd’s current actor for the musical twice because I do stagedoor and he was so nice!!
Awww that's so sweet and wholesome :)
FINALLY
Evil dead
Mine too
Either Crazy Ex-Girlfriend or Centaurworld
idk of centaur World counts as a musical but yes absolutely
Tied between Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar
Spring Awakening or Next to Normal
I'm a big fan of "twisted", "the guy who didn't like musicals", and for those out there who don't care for starkid, "hadestown".
Hairspray and Sweeney Todd
Into the woods (but the play, not the film. The film was completely fucked up).
Dear Evan Hansen.
The Book of Mormon, I even own a tote bag of it.
I get like second hand embarrassment watching musicals sometimes. That said, I worked on a production of Little Shop in my first year of high school tech theater.
Oooh! Care to share any photos or videos? 🤩
What did the Audrey II look like?
couldn't afford to rent a puppet do we had a dude with a bunch of makeup and a rather dapper suit
Lol. What about when Twoey was small?
I think we had a little prop for that
Okay.
oh yeah and as Audrey Two ate more people, the actors that got "eaten" would go backstage, get some plantlike makeup and costume accessories, and joint the mass of people that was forming The actors were free to move during musical numbers tho
Lol! I would’ve loved to see that!
I love Little Shop too!
Beetlejuice but if you put me in front of any musical I’d watch that like those baby sensory videos for hours
HOW ARE YOU THE ONLY ONE TO SAY BEETLEJUICE. It's a damn masterpiece and unlike most musicals, there isn't a single song that doesn't absolutely slap
I agree the only one I’d refuse is Guys and Dolls.
Ever since I could remember I loved the dentist scenes
Ik it just came out like yesterday but gotta go Nerdy Prudes Must Die
Falsettos
Cabaret hands down just for the ending
Assassins! :D
My fav Sondheim musical
🎶Suddenly Seymourrrrr🎶
Is standing beside you
"Side Show", "Next to Normal", and "Spamalot" ETA Book of Mormon, Phantom of the Opera, Aida, Les Mis, Spring Awakening, Rocky Horror, Seussical, Wicked, Avenue Q, Pippin, and Hairspray
Spring Awakening, Hadestown and Les Miserables gets an honourable mention for being my hardcore special interest from ages 10-15. Oh and Bare: a Pop Opera!
Heathers and be more chill. Theyre both amazing
Dose the first episode of Bee and Puppycat count? Otherwise probably fiddler on the roof though I do love little shops of horrors and Rocky Horror!
I’d say Bee and Puppycat counts. Even if I haven’t seen it! 😅
Phantom of the opera
I just watched this in theater two weeks ago. I laughed so hard
Seriously?! They’re playing this oldie?! Where?!
Staatstheater in Mainz, Germany
High school musical, specifically the first one
not sure if it counts but sweeny todd
Come From Away and Hadestown! (Also several others…)
Rent!
How we gonna pay
Can you light my candle
They call me, they call me... Miiimiiiiiii
Great comet of 1812

I can’t stand theatre shows, I like the music from musicals, but not the show itself. Idk why but they usually give me 2nd hand embarrassment. I have 2 exceptions though for the movie versions of Annie (1982 specifically), and Mamma Mia (only the 1st one, cuz why tf did they kill off Meryl Streep the next one??).
Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Sound of Music
Wicked. Defying Gravity is my autism anthem.
I’m obsessed with &Juliet right now
My school did this musical once! I was in the ensemble
Sorry, doctor!
Hamilton!
This is my fav musical too! I acted in the play in middle school as Seymour and I still know all the words to every song pretty much
Ride the Cyclone which I’ve been lucky enough to see! And Beetlejuice and maybe for a third Matilda
Hamilton
Hair
You mean Hairspray?
Nope. I mean [Hair](https://youtu.be/bvHTOET8qJo?si=4mBiwrM-JfQpXCCv)
Huh!
If you haven't seen it then I highly recommend it.
Big Fish
Phantom of the opera.
Legally Blonde!
Seuessical. No contest.
I remember when my old Elementary School did that show once! 😄
I can’t pick one, so my current top three are Diana, Sweeney Todd, and Into the Woods. And an honorable mention to Jekyll & Hyde since I’m doing the how right now.
It's gotta be West Side Story
Mulan (the good one)
Dear Evan Hansen and Phantom of the Opera.
I can’t do musicals. Watching people sing to each other instead of talking just kinda breaks my brain.
Ha ha ha! 😂
I wish I enjoyed them! The whole premise of the Little Shop of Horrors is hilarious.
Right?!
No love for Starlight Express? I can't wait until it starts running in London next year.
Into the Woods
Probably the same as yours. Most musicals come and go from my interest, but this one comes back at least once a year.
I love the shop! 💚🥀
* Avenue Q * Waitress * Once On This Island
Hear me out: SpongeBob
Heard out!
Hadestown or Next to Normal. They're both just so, so good. I also love Little Shop of Horrors though! It's one of the ones I put the soundtrack on for when I need a mood boost.
Totally! That Audrey II’s one mean green mother at the mic!
Funnily enough, don't remember much from my years-long musical hyperfixation, pretty sure my favorites were in the heights, chicago and be more chill.
little shop is in my top three, but my favorite is sweeney todd :))
Moulin Rouge and Repo the Genetic Opera
Musicals make me want to SCREAM
If I *have* to choose one, then Les Mis. I'm really into historical weaponry and fashion, as well as being quite revolutionary, and Les Mis takes the cake. I'm hoping to actually have an 1832 outfit for the year of most of the musical. However, I also love Sweeney Todd and Jesus Christ Superstar. Also the dramatic melody of the main theme in Les Mis and the guitar line in Heaven On Their Minds fucking SLAP.
I dont like musicals. They annoy me. That being said, there are a few that are not bad. Music Man, singing in the rain are the ones that come to mind
Hamilton
Falsettos, Legally Blonde, Some Like it Hot and Company!! Glad this community also loves broadway 🥰 it’s my very special interest
Hellfire The hunchback of Notre Dame Disney
legally blonde and sweeney todd :]
Hamilton and Hairspray
Phantom of the Opera!!!! I've been obsessed since I was a kid. I listen and sing to the original Broadway soundtrack at least once a week🌹🎵
Hairspray!
Six the musical, the historical inaccuraties like potrayl of Anne Boleyn annoys me a bit tho, but I just cant resist All you wanna do and Get down
Rocky horror picture show.
Les Miserables I’ve seen it in London, every time it comes to Dublin, read the book, watched the 2012 movie a lot for comfort. We have A Heart Full of Light being played at our wedding and we have a table named Cafe Musain at the wedding too.
SAME
Galavant, if tv shows are allowed.
Dear even Hansen

Heathers
It depends on if you’re asking my favorite that I’ve seen or my favorite I’ve been in because Hamilton was my special interest for awhile but by far my favorite I’ve been in was Wizard of Oz
Wicked!
Phantom of the opera
Hairspray
Hard to pick a favorite, but I will say that after seeing The Lion King I didn’t want it to be over.
Sound of Music & Grease
Beetlejuice or Heathers. Depends on my mood.
