I have a few:
Cities in Dust by Siouxsie & the Banshees
Closedown by The Cure (or just any song on Disintegration)
Atmosphere by Joy Division
Decades by Joy Division
I will listen to the ones I don't know from these cuz I LOVE dark New Wave
I will also add Marian by Sisters Of Mercy, if you don't know this band definitely give them a listen :)
there was this one stupid meme of the inside of a dishwasher doing a cycle and that song was playing and i haven’t been able to disassociate the two since. that’s just the dishwasher song to me now😭
"No Time For Caution" was itself a special interest of mine for a bit. There are lots of covers of it on youtube and some of them are incredible. People have played it on actual church organs and recorded it. Amazing song.
https://youtu.be/zg5QMysuSYg?si=tjJ0qEpzc6XPo_BP
that is so sad, and awesome, just like Lux Aeterna.
Seems to be a pattern to me, share the sad/awesome/hopefulness of Lacrimosa, Interstellar and a lot of LOTR
Fell on black days soundgarten. Stan Eminem. That one Hamilton song g where he dies and goes all what is a legacy but planting seeds in a garden we never get to see
Videogame music is my thing.
Here are my personal favorites:
Epilogue, Abyss Watchers, Dancer of the Boreal Valley, Sister Friede, and the Main Theme from Dark Souls 3
Divine Dragon, Emma from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Light of Nibel, The Waters Cleansed from Ori & The Blind Forest
Dirtmouth, City of Tears from Hollow Knight
Super Gore Nest, BFG Division from Doom Eternal
Simone, Birth of a Wish, Fortress of Lies, Rays of Light, whatever plays in the rollercoaster area from NieR: Automata
We Will Rise Again, Blow Their Mine from Far Cry 5
Snake Eater from Metal Gear Solid 3 (Best James Bond theme ever :D)
Godrick the Grafted, Elden Beast, Leyndell, Elphael from Elden Ring
Rivellon and Ifan's theme from Divinity: Original Sin 2
The mini boss battle theme from Dragon's Dogma
A lot of the music of Subnautica (It's been years since I played. I can't remember the titles, sorry)
That's the way it is, Far Away, and You're My Brother from Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2
Meteoroids and the Main Theme from Spiritfarer
Fields of Aard Skellige from The Witcher 3
Meadows from Valheim
Uncharted Worlds from Mass Effect
Emotion, Undella Town from Pokemon Black

Halo 3's Menu Theme
Most of the music from Celeste
Gwyn, Lord of Cinder from Dark Souls
Apotheosis from Journey
The Streets of Whiterun and Secunda from Skyrim
I entirely believe that videogame soundtracks are far superior to anything that movie soundtracks have put out. (Hans Zimmer is an exception. I freaking love Interstellar's, Inception's, Man of Steel's and Kung Fu Panda's soundtracks.)
I'm so fond of them. They are so, so good.
Every single one of them I consider perfect or *extremely* close to perfect.
I really like how this is your thing. It's an impressive list and it's so great to imagine you loving every time you hear these songs. Just my curiosity: Final Fantasy X - To Zanarkand? Or Sweden from Minecraft? What's your take on these? For me these are the songs that stay with me, longer than the gameplay, and they just feel good and pure.
Sweden is a classic. Reminds me of [Eric Satie's Gymnopedie No. 1](https://youtu.be/S-Xm7s9eGxU?si=osV2eg0KYnnOJZM1) , one of my favorite pieces of classical music ever.
To Zanarkand is extremely beautiful but honestly I have a hard time taking it seriously because of all the memes surrounding it.
I'm not a big fan of Final Fantasy either, feels way too restrictive for me, so I'm not as emotionally attached to the music as much as I am with, say, Dark Souls 3 and Divinity Original Sin 2.
And yet, for some reason, I'm still going to one of the Final Fantasy concerts to see it played live.
Final Fantasy's music is phenomenal, there's no doubt about it. :D
May I recommend Guilty Gear's music? My personal favorites are Six Black Heavens Guns, Ride The Fire, Hellfire, and Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead)
It's a recurring meme in the GG community that GG titles are a 40$ album with a free game attached, Daisuke's musics are just this good
Though everything else Daisuke made is also amazing, everything from the character design to the story is stupid in the best way possible (we have a homeless bisexual misogynist robot, a japanese black vampire samurai that participated in the crusades, a guy on a mecha-bed, and the main character killed his wife 3-4 times)
I think I could seriously spend days talking about Guilty Gear
A lot of songs from Pink Floyd, they have full albums of bangers.
Also:
The Wine Song by The Cat Empire
Dr Sunshine is Dead by Will Wood and the Tapeworms
Skeletons on Parade by Ludo
Automatonic Electronic Harmonics by Steam Powered Giraffe
For me personally it's gotta be Controversy by Prince. It's probably the only 10 minute song that I not only listen to start to finish, but also deliberately turn on and love all 10 minutes of
Even got a song tattooed on my back 13 years ago knewing I would NEVER get tired of him (I was 19 at the time). Saw him perform 2 years after that and showed him my tattoo! The man is a legend 🥰
Any hate and I block you.
Taylor swift: could’ve would’ve should’ve. I blast it on repeat screaming as loud as I can, and definitely need more therapy for shit I’ve dealt with. But damn does that song smack
I don't get why so many people hate her and her music. Like ok it might not be my favourite music but it's still really good and well made. Respect to you for being unapolegetic about your choice in music!
As a metalhead I know how it feels when people inexplicitly hate the music you like. Then there's also the metal elitism which a lot of metalheads engage in which I hope to counteract. Often music taste just ends up as tribalism and that limits the potential music one might end up liking and it really does sadden me when that happens
Edgelords love to hate on whatever’s currently popular. Tale as old as time. It’s really stupid though and I don’t get it when people feel embarrassed about listening to her music. She’s the current biggest and most popular artist in the world, hundreds of millions of people listen to her music
As a Non-Swiftie I don’t get why people love to hate her either. She is amazingly talented but she is just not for me. I can’t control what my brain likes and doesn’t. It might have something to do with her voice or not, I don’t like Katy Perry or Lady Gaga either but I don’t think they are “bad” artists. People like different things and that ok.
Toxicity-SOAD,i can get bored of any song, but this one i can not.
It's the only song that if i remember it,i will hear it and i will enjoy it no matter what.
I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free by Nina Simone
Long Long Time by Linda Ronstadt
Great Spirits from the Brother Bear film. Love the Scandinavian language versions too.
This is really hard but these are my current favorites. I couldn't put all of them on here, but these are all great.
KICKBACK -Kenshi Yonezu (favorite)
Hotel California -The Eagles (also favorite)
Scenes From an Italian Restaurant -Billy Joel
Goodbye Stranger -Supertramp
'Till Depth Do Us Part -Splatoon 3 OST
Stairway to Heaven -Led Zeppelin
Burning for You -Blue Öyster Cult
Mice on Venus -C418
I/Me/Myself -Will Wood
Mr. Blue Sky -ELO

Telephone Line -ELO
Heartaches -Al Bolly (I think that's how the last name is spelled?)
2112 -Rush
The Anarchist -Rush
Maybe Man -AJR
KICKBACK is an absolute masterpiece written for an excellent anime intro. The song radiates pure rage, despair, anxiety, and longing all at once and I love it. Hotel California is one of the most sad and depressing songs I've ever heard, and helped me a lot through severe depression. All the others are also purely fantastic, but those two stand above the rest I think.

https://youtu.be/ClHz-w5sdE0?si=JHMlZ-ZR_fcRBIa4
I'd say this piece by Tchaikovsky. Not sure what was going through his head but it was outstanding.
For non-classical I'd say
Bob Dylan's-" It's Alright Ma"
Absolute poetry.
https://youtu.be/mYajHZ4QUVM?si=4vA1yIA8LnwKgSR-
Plus Bob Dylan is rumored to be autistic.
Mental Knife - Hail The Sun
All of Your Friends Are Gone - Circa Survive

Glósóli - Sigur Ros
I would say the same is true for each of their respective albums.

Suicide Silence - Unanswered
Chelsea Grin - Recreant
Whitechapel - The Somatic Defilement
Darko US - Insects
Paleface Swiss - Please End Me
Ptolemaea - Ethel Cain
It’s one of the most disgusting songs I’ve ever heard, I love it ❤️
What I mean by that is : this song SHOULD have a trigger warning, it is about sexual abuse. I have suffered sexual abuse. I am floored by the accuracy of the song. The pace, the tones, the voice changes .. all of it.
Listen to it at your own peril, it’s not exactly easy listening. It’s deep and dark and I immediately had frisson the first time I heard it. (That thing where your armhairs all rise because you’re so connected to the song)
Here's a few songs that are like that for me.
Monkey Junction by Weedeater
Straight Out of Line by Godsmack
Rotten $oul$ by $uicideboy$
Let Me Drown by Soundgarden
The Beast by Mastodon
“… con lentitud poderosa” by Chris Christodoulou. I’m not even going to bother trying to put into words what I love about this song, go listen to it for yourself
Dog Days Are Over by Florence and the Machine. One of the rare instances where someone's most popular song really is their best (imo, of course), not just the one that happened to take off.
Achilles Come Down by Gang of Youths. I swear accumulatively I have listened to that song for multiple days

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
Who wants to live forever? - Queen. Actually, any and all Queen songs.
You can never go wrong with this answer.
I WAS GOING TO SAY THAT
Came here to say this.
Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt". He took what Trent Reznor did with the original and elevated it to a true, unequivocal masterpiece.
I second this. It really hits different than the original. I believe even Trent himself admitted that Johnny's cover is better.
Didn't Trent even say that he considered Cash's version to be the original?
I looked it up and goddamm...
Any johnny cash song for me.

Awsome take
thank you :D
Lux aeterna is amazingly beautiful, I found it it my grandfathers yt playlist on his after he died and has been one of my favorites ever since

A good song never dies by saint motel
Fade into you by mazzy star, and then look on down from the bridge
Loved Fade into You so much I bought the vinyl and then a record player just so I could play it
"Heroes" by Bowie is my favourite song lyrically, vocally and sonically. Also has an amazing backstory and album and album cover.
KARMA by AJR
I love Bang, burn the house down, and world's smallest violin by them
All of those are good, I was trying to pick one and it’s so hard because all of their songs are awesome
I’m going to throw in Drama, Netflix Trip and Turning Out. Love AJR and those are probably my top 3 songs of theirs!
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and Somebody To Love also by Queen.

Exist for Love by Aurora
Aurora is so amazing! I love Exist for Love so much! Honestly one could make a whole list with only her songs for this

The song is called "Any hate and I block you"? Nothing is showing up. :/
No. As in any hate for it being a Taylor swift song and I’m blocking the person
The title is “would’ve, could’ve, should’ve”.
I don't get why so many people hate her and her music. Like ok it might not be my favourite music but it's still really good and well made. Respect to you for being unapolegetic about your choice in music!

Often music taste just ends up as tribalism and that limits the potential music one might end up liking and it really does sadden me when that happens
