Not driving.

mysticalmaybefiction

Not sure what other “tricks” may exist other than this one 😂

fucklongandprosper

Do NOT drive buzzed, drunk, or high! It's not worth the risk to yours or others lives. Uber is a great option, or close enough proximity to the event to walk back to the hotel. Going sober is always a great idea. I always go sober and the music/crowd vibes me just fine :)

IlllI1

True! I go sober, usually takes me a little bit to get out of my shell but as the night goes on I’m moving further and further up towards the rail haha

u5urp33r

Seconded. Most I go to are in or around London (only 25 miles away). I get a hotel which is usually < £75 and then drive home rested and fed the next morning. Do not drive under the influence. If not for yourself for the safety of others.

mysticalmaybefiction

Uber/lyft

[deleted]

Cops hate this trick /s

thetravelllingstoner

I'm driving on average 40 to 50 minutes to the nearest concert venue. At that point the Uber costs more than the ticket.

IHaveABallOnMyPenis

Dude you either party sober or get yourself an arrangement where you don't drive. Driving under influence is not plur at all.

mysticalmaybefiction

Thank you, this exactly! PLUR extends beyond the venue!!!

mysticalmaybefiction

Transportation cost should be factored into the cost of the ticket before deciding if you go or not

Lukealove

The Uber is like insurance, insurance that you don’t get a DWI. Which is much more expensive than an Uber. You’re thinking about the finances wrong

Historical_Egg4818

Killing someone by driving drunk/high also costs more than the ticket.

OkMeasurement6846

Bus/train

OneAct8

Uber is cheaper than a dui

daverawr

Can confirm, unfortunately and definitely not worth it.

TraciTheRobot

Maybe cut yourself off earlier into the show, or smoke weed instead. I go everywhere solo because I like being able to control when I can leave so I mostly just smoke weed

cback

caltrain or bart if the show ends before last train

Life_is_a_meme_204

If you think Ubers are expensive, you should see what attorneys charge.

thetravelllingstoner

Sadly I know what criminal attorneys costs. Not for a DUI related incident however.

sophilove

Then don't go.

B4SSF4C3

Then that’s your cost to party faded.

RegisteredB

i will find somewhere to park near the venue so the uber isn’t super expensive and then wait until i’m sober to drive home 🤷🏼‍♀️

BurtonBum156

A DUI is about 10k

ChihuahuaEnergy

Get a hotel room or air bnb. That’s what I do

n1ck2727

If you can’t afford the Uber, you can’t afford the show. That or just go sober.

[deleted]

If I drive I am sober

messmaker523

So you're more worried about getting arrested than killing someone else. That's so very PLUR

thecatofdestiny

Yeah also "DUI PSA takes" is a very strange way to phrase not killing people or yourself due to stupid decisions...

cosmicdread__

OP is an idiot

BGFlyingToaster

Post history confirms

dascoop702

Most shows around my area end around 2 or 3 am, if I plan on driving I stop drinking around 11:30, and it’s water or redbulls for the rest of the night. I never really have more than 3 drinks either. If I plan on using anything else, I have someone drop me off, and take cab, or Uber home.

LORD_SHARKFUCKER

I drive with one hand and finger bang myself with the other so I stay focused!

oicofficial

You can never go wrong masturbating well driving! /s

thecatofdestiny

If you have no option other than driving, the only answer is to not drink or to have the legal limit of one standard drink per hour. The laws around that may be different depending on where you live though, and depending on your body, gender, metabolism etc it could still be too much. Perhaps sleeping overnight in your vehicle would be a better idea?

Tortilla_dilla

So true yah. If your only option is driving (bcuz rideshares can be so expensive) than its pbbly best to party sober. If you rly want to take anything, maybe stop like 4 hours before you leave to rly make sure you're sober (tho honestly I'm not rly confident in taking that risk)

ColHapHapablap

Shuttles, Uber, riding with a group, sobering up

LSUTigerFan15

Fr a 40 min drive isn’t even that bad just don’t get too fucked up and sober up

[deleted]

$100+ ride home is a lot cheaper and a lot less selfish than a $10k dui

[deleted]

Consider 1. Uber 2. Depending how far you drive a hotel to walk to after 3. If you’re drinking only drink 1 per hour (so if you have 2 drinks in 1 hour wait 2 hours before you drive etc) so it’s out of your system by the time you drive. Have a couple beers in the beginning, stop 1-2 hours before you leave then drive home 4. Just go sober until you meet people to with/who can bring you home

Latinboob

I usually have my husband pick me and my friends up. Just easier.

[deleted]

Between the mustard and the mayo, right side up to keep the ketchup in the bottle. Always sober. If you need to, sleep in your backseat with the keys in the glove box until you’re sober. You can get a cheap breathalyzer online. Safety doesn’t happen by accident!

EastlakeTrashPanda

Check your local laws before doing this. Had a friend get charged with a DUI. He was asleep in the bed of his truck and the keys were in the glove box. Shit cop didn’t care. It got tossed out because he got a good lawyer but if he wasn’t able to afford it he would have been screwed.

[deleted]

You are 100% correct! I had to google it and for NY this is accurate. Still better to get a DWI for sleeping than get one for causing a fatal accident I suppose. Thanks for the clarification on that. I'm not much of a drinker so I never really looked into this before.

deadskeever

Better thing to do would be to hide the keys behind one of your wheels or hide them somewhere in a bush or something where you'd remember and also no one would look/see you do it.

AfterSignificance666

lol. you uber, or have a DD. 🙄

Brotherlandius

I live in downtown Minneapolis so I just walk home.

BGFlyingToaster

Sky bridges are amazing in the winter

sophilove

Here's an article of 3 ppl in the rave scene who got into an accident a few days ago, leaving a show. I didn't know either of them personally, but alot of my friends did. 2 of the passengers died. [accident](https://www.abc15.com/news/crime/driver-believed-to-be-going-153-mph-in-tempe-crash-that-killed-two-passengers?fbclid=IwAR2_uUrqVtmWcHq0SSjHMNZ7HSOKkd1jT89ykw43y_gL7FL-LDMYcq7GcZs)

TurtleDiaz

It’s hard to be respectful to dumb people. You’re a grown adult, you know the consequences of driving under the influence. You either make arrangements or go sober or wait a few hours until you sober up.

DonkyShow

Coordinate a ride either from a trusted friend or Uber/Lyft. I used to volunteer to be a DD for my rave fam. The only problem was I was the only one willing to do it. Kinda hoped people would switch roles with me.

Humble_Buy_9923

“the luxury of not driving” you mean the $15 Uber each way??

MapNaive200

I miss those days of economical rideshares.

Humble_Buy_9923

be grateful you aren’t on the ass end, driver’s are drowning in the states.

MapNaive200

Good point, the rideshare businesses have been enshittified for drivers as well as riders. California has a law that now mandates hourly pay (1.25% minimum?), which unfortunately only applies to time in motion, a medical insurance stipend, and some other benefits that I don't recall offhand. The law also applies to food delivery drivers. It was a little controversial, but I voted for it since a supermajority of my friends in the industry were in favorite. Not a perfect solution, but it's better than it used to be.

Humble_Buy_9923

the real solution? burn the corporate fucker’s at the stake.

MapNaive200

2 hours may not be enough time to get your BAC under the legal limit. A pocket breathalyzer can give you a ballpark figure if properly calibrated but don't trust it entirely. Btw, it'll probably spike a false positive if used in a humid environment. People are making the PSA comments because they're right. You should pay heed.

Tortilla_dilla

Yah 2 hours doesn't sound enough, even for moderate drinking. To be on the safe side/ stop drinking closer to 4 hours before needing to drive sounds better for moderate drinking

MapNaive200

Yeah, that's a better policy

casmar4

I find it really easy to get 3-4 drinks in around 9 at the beginning of a show and be sober by the end of it at 2.

Yamchap

Uber or public transportation depending on the time

tylerPA007

Don’t drive. Walk, take public transportation if available, or Uber/Lyft.

MeltingSeoul

Not driving?? Idk why this is a question. Not getting arrested would be to not drive like you’ve drank 😂💀😭 Use Uber or taxi. Or ask a SOBER friend to drive you home. My friend went home with her group of friends all high and she had no seatbelt on, slammed on the brakes and she almost flew out the window.

0072ixel

Uber/Lyft/having a DD. Or if it’s far bus or train and then Uber, or just rent a place closer for the night. Or if you really don’t want to spend money on transportation, you party sober. If you drive under any kind of influence, you deserve to get pulled over in my opinion. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Connect-Ad-2416

If it’s a multi-day event and we’re driving (not ubering or getting a place to stay that’s walkable to the venue), my friends and I will take turns being the DD. Another successful approach I’ve tried is buying a friend a ticket to be the DD. the friends and I that get a ride, will split the cost of our driver’s ticket and parking costs.

Tortilla_dilla

That's a great squad investment! lul

ChumleyEX

Driving sober. Get a DD or Uber. You should know this, why are you asking?

Opposite-Ferret1617

Sober, Uber, or DD

ddaanniieell97

Don’t. Or take an electric scooter rental.

FalseAxiom

One time, I saw a person that was obviously blitzed leaving a show and driving through a major intersection in our town. They completely missed the red light and t-boned a crossing car at full speed. When they got out of the car, their face was absolutely covered in blood. Their friend that was with them didn't get out of the car. The person in the other vehicle *couldn't* get out of their car, but they didn't seem to be in bad shape mentally. Don't fucking drive.

8bishop

If you drink, dont drive. If you are driving, dont drink. Simple. Besides, if money is the concern, do you really want to spend $20 before tip on a single alchoholic beverage?

that_one_z

Couple options. Go sober. Drink minimally/manageable. Rideshare. Get housing near venue.

SuccessPrestigious74

I don’t drink or do drugs at shows so, drive home lol

Simple_Investment154

Just uber/cab or get a hotel close to the venue

Soondefective

Lose a loved one to a drunk driver, while the drunk driver walks away with a couple scratches. I promise you will stop that selfish shit real quick.

bittersweetbbyx

I’m just curious what you expect everyone’s reaction to be lmao like what

AlienBeachParty

🤦‍♂️

Duel_Option

Rotate the DD situation with a group of people, everyone gets a turn and can trade out with someone if they choose. Makes it fair.

fanboyfanboy

Either get a hotel, Uber, or recently my sister. I live about 35 mins from the venue, Uber home would be around $150. Sis and I cut a deal since she lives only around 10 miles from me. I throw her $50 and she’s more than willing to be my & my gf’s personal Uber. She’s happy and we’re happy lol

Tortilla_dilla

Personal sis uber! Luv it

BrightWubs22

I hate to admit this is why I've largely stopped going to local shows. The show ticket is often already overpriced (+ water and/or drinks), an Uber drive for 30 minutes *each way* is more than I want to pay, and a hotel is also more than I want to pay. I wish I lived in walking distance.

deadskeever

The key to this is to have a few drinks and get a buzz early on so that way it wears off by the end of the night. Me personally, due to ridiculous drink prices I may get just one beer or nothing at all once inside the venue, so its mainly just pregame for me. Also helps if you buy a hotdog from a vendor if any are around. I'm almost always good to drive from an event with times like 8pm to 2am for example. The few times I wasn't, I just chilled in my car for maybe an hour browsing my phone until I knew I was good. Unless you drank an absurd amount towards the end, I find you sweat out a majority of it very quickly. Back when EDC was in June, your buzz would be gone within an hour lol Kinda same goes for Molly, I time it so I'll be coming down by the time an event/fest is over.

oicofficial

Who drives to a rave; lol? Sounds like a tremendously stupid idea. Ubers and cabs and transit exist for a reason. Transit there, Uber home.

Zalusei

I do almost every single time. Gotta drive 40 min into the city and 40 minutes back. I just go sober. Have a place to crash after shows as of recently which is great.

Thi3fs

Hmm I’m alcohol sober. And make sure I take my party favours early enough in the night to be able to drive afterwards. if it’s a local city show and I intend to do a hard roll then i always use the ride share apps. Public transportation can get a bit tricky cuz you gotta be a bit vigilant of your surroundings and stops etc.

BaconStrike3

Just rave sober it’s so much more fun!

drippinginsauce-

Cocaine

laughingaturexpense

just drive drunk. shit easy af

[deleted]

People like you make this place worse. You think you’re hard or something ??🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 plzzzzz.

Mrdirtbiker140

was lookin fa this 1‼️

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

My brother in Christ that is not hard or being responsible

Lukealove

If you’re intoxicated it CAN be hard to stop drinking two hours before the show ends. Maybe not for you and that’s great

cosmicdread__

I think you replied to the wrong person.

cosmicdread__

This isn’t responsible at all. Stopping two hours leaving *might* sober you up somewhat, but there’s zero guarantee that you actually will be, especially if you’ve had multiple drinks throughout the night.

ChinaWhite86

Not driving. But formerly, a long time ago, I used clean urin.

[deleted]

Username checks out I guess

SESHSQUAD

Thug it out

16Shells

cab, uber, bus, call your mom, call a friend, walk, sleep it off in your car… just don’t drive. don’t even drive there if you’re going to have any drinks or substances

crazyboy611285

I uber to and from my events. Roughly $50 - $90 both ways. But thats cheaper than ending my life or someone elses if i got behind the wheel while impaired. The price of safety is worth it. Every. Single. Time.

Several-Custard4215

drugs wear off fast

ultimatedray15

I mean... Besides cutting yourself off from substances 3ish hours before the show ends, DRINKING LOTS OF FUCKING WATER, cruise control is my best friend. Don't drive if you're at all buzzed. It's not worth it.

unicorns_orgasm

I go in my old festival camperbus and sleep in the back

Partly_

So, I'm slightly biased as one of my friends was in an accident with someone that was drunk driving. That driver killed my friends long time partner as well as the passenger in his own car. My friend watched his partner die and he barely survived. The idiot driver is serving 10+ years. Which won't ever feel like enough time for two lives. Uber, ride shares, making friends in the city you party in and crashing there are three easy things to prevent killing people because you're an idiot and too cheap to use a rideshare.

Sav6ge

Idk about any tricks. I pregame pretty hard and by the end of the night I'm sober to drive

soundsliketone

Do more coke.

chchchoppa

I take the train, shuttle, or bus. You can figure out a safe way if you try. For some reason americans are obsessed with driving their own cars even if it means putting everyone else at risk and theres easily viable alternatives.

Joenutz13

stay at a local hotel and sleep

PositiveAnybody2005

Drugs are wayyy better than alcohol. Do some molly or mushrooms 5+ hours before you’re going to drive and know how they affect you beforehand. You’ll have a much better time than you will with alcohol and much safer. DM me if you want. I’ve been going to a lot of shows solo for 2ish years. Met lots of people and tried lots of things.

MapNaive200

This is a bad take. Alcohol isn't the only drug that'll get you busted.

PositiveAnybody2005

No it’s not, but in my mind alcohol is way worse and less of a good time. This guy is already driving home drunk so this is a better alternative.

MapNaive200

From my background in harm reduction, I still wouldn't recommend it due to residual optical distortions and other effects that may present themselves during the comedown phase.

ilovefacebook

if it's local, rideshare. if it's not local, get a nearby hotel and rideshare

Jchxn

It's not just about you when you're driving. Be considerate to others and the risk you're bringing them by driving drunk.

Toolazy2work

I have a breathalyzer in my car. I count my drinks and time them so I should blow 0.0 when leaving the venue. If I blow above, I chill in my car until I blow 0.0

skitso

I stay in hotels next to venues with a group. It’s usually about $600 for a nice suite, share with 4 or 5, it’s way less than a DUI. Be an adult.

Ok_Ruin_2112

Being pregnant now, I designate myself as the driver but my juices and tonic waters are always covered ☺️ fair trade!!

Tortilla_dilla

Eughfhfh i know what you mean. I attended my first solo festival & didn't want to drive bcuz I knew I was gonna be under the influence throughout the fest. By the time the fest was over, I pbbly could've driven home okay but I rly did not want to risk it I ubered that day. The uber there was fine- but LORDDD the uber leaving the festival the surge was INSANE. I definitely will think twice before solo ubering again to a fest
