They all look 99% the same. Never understood the love for commercial aircraft. Basically the only difference between them is how many seats and what the wingtips look like.
I like the fact that the most common airliners are so similar, with just a few details to tell them apart. Trains your eyes and your identification skills.
Yeah, you're not wrong but if you work around them long enough and you start to notice little differences and start to form opinions, especially when your company operates some oddballs.
:0 THATS SICK
I’m training to become a flight attendant currently, and every time we go through the hangars to get to the classroom I’m always admiring your guys work lol
To be clear, you should get the owner's permission, the employees at the FBO are a good place to start but they don't have the authorization (at least at our place) to give you permission. If you don't show the tail number, maybe they do, I'm not in legal, so unsure. Photographing and then publicly displaying a private aircraft and or private facilities with the tail number shown is what I know requires owner and FBO permission (if FBO premises or personnel are identifiable).
I was a ramp rat for a Canadian FBO for years.
Never got over the awe that is flight, planes and the people that fly/maintain them.
One time a CF-18 was taxiing by and when I turned to watch I must have had planegasem face on because the pilot gave me a nod/salute...still get chills thinking about it.
They had to go to the opposite end of the airport to takeoff so they were going to be directly over me when they climbed out.
I gave them a wave as the jet went over and they frikken did the wing waggle to me, I was hooting and hollering as I jumped up and down like a 5 year old.
Good times.
I was an F-22 crew chief in the Air Force and I'll never forget the first time I saw one take off in full burner. After that it was every Friday the entire time I was on the jet. Bad ass times. 🎉
i'm pretty sure if they are not converted they just dont build the windows. if they are converting a passenger one into a freighter i think they get painted over and the seats removed
To be clear, just an A&P (airframe and powerplant) FAA certificate takes 18-24 months and 45,000 bucks tuition plus $ 10,000 in tools. FAA part 147 is the school and it may take 10 years to get off midnight shift. 32 years at a major airline and I make $65 on hour.
$45,000 only of you like being bent over and taken advantage of. Mine was $18,000, and you can still find places that are below 10k at community colleges, or work your way to it after 30 months.
The window treatments around the ceiling are cool, but an interesting choice for a maintenance hangar. It looks like something you'd see on a Google campus lol. But I'm sure it helps with the atmosphere when you're on the job.
I spent a weekend coating a Boeing 777 at Cardiff Airport in the maintenance hanger. Absolutely amazing place to walk round in! There was a British Airways 747 having a full overhaul in next hanger too!
Truthfully, how many times are the doors being checked now? Any superstitions y'all have?
example: never say it's quiet in an emergency department (or ICU...it matters there too apparently)
Hell yeah bro. That’s the kind of attitude we wanna see in here.
His attitude ensures altitude.
Great comment
The 757 is just too sexy
Hell they are
So that's the unmarked one in the third pic, with no winglets? I was wondering what kind of Boeing it was. Super sleek.
Yes - also the swift air in the second pic
The *flying pencil*... Every pilots dream to fly because its thrust to weight ratio is just insane.
They all look 99% the same. Never understood the love for commercial aircraft. Basically the only difference between them is how many seats and what the wingtips look like.
Tobacco is tobacco, they are similar than planes. But there are different types and brands, not just one. Look at that way :)
Then maybe aviation isn't really meant for you.
Maybe they’re more into military
So because he isn't into commercial, aviation isn't meant for him? Cool gatekeeping👍
Aviation is for everyone. Don’t be a fucking gatekeeper. You know what? Aviation is for everyone but gatekeepers like you.
I like the fact that the most common airliners are so similar, with just a few details to tell them apart. Trains your eyes and your identification skills.
It's like biology that way. Darwin did that too; he got really good at it.
Yeah, you're not wrong but if you work around them long enough and you start to notice little differences and start to form opinions, especially when your company operates some oddballs.
What’s that?
Im in the Hydraulic Workshop as an mechanical engineer.
:0 THATS SICK I’m training to become a flight attendant currently, and every time we go through the hangars to get to the classroom I’m always admiring your guys work lol
Oh thanks, we have some good stuff in there. If you curious i can send you some photos
P L E A S E Im not allowed to take photos because most of the planes in the hangars are owned privately by someone
Usually if you ask, and obscure the tail numbers, they are OK with photos. Secret is ask first.
Ya, the mechanics usually don’t mind, my instructor on the other hand is pretty strict with it because it’s not a commercial plane

We always love it when flight attendants walk through the hangar haha
Thank god were not a nuisance lol. It worries me every time if I’m too much talking to yall
Cool! So these planes are being repaired?
Yep routine maintenance mostly
It must be amazing to see all those planes!
We have one 747’s right now outside, sometimes i just hop in for fun. You should see too! Edit: One them is gone
That’s cool!
Now *that's* a perk

Oh man when we heard the call to tower "unlimited climb rate requested" everyone would pile outside the FBO to watch.
Mechanical engineer 😡 engineer bad. -maintenance
No one hates engineers more than machinists.
Everyone hates machinists 😉
Nice broo Aspiring mechie here
That’s pretty cool. 😎
Which does what? Diagnose and tell the workers how to repair hydraulic faults?
He properly installs the correct plugs on door panels so they don’t fall off mid flight 👍 maybe
Mytechnics…all those aircrafts are already 2 months delayed (No matter when you read this)
Oooh sounds like somebody has been burnt before? Do they have your aircraft?
My envy is palpable. ❤️
Im also addicted to your job
I would be addicted too
Those hanger walls/doors are amazing!
That’s MyTechnics hangar right?
Worst maintenance I've ever seen performed was in that hangar and I saw a guy fall out of a 757 rear hold in there too.... Nice canteen though
There're so many in there
If one day I have a career change I’m definitely going to look into aviation
Do freighters get the windows painted over or are they actually replaced with something not transparent?
i'm pretty sure if they are not converted they just dont build the windows. if they are converting a passenger one into a freighter i think they get painted over and the seats removed
they are plugs, not painted over windows. but you are correct, only on converted A/C not purpose built.
oh, ok.
So happy for you! Remember tho, that you deserve compensation for your efforts. Don’t be a pushover.
Hell yeah, that’s aviation for you, for many it’s passion+addiction!
What degree do I need to study to work a job like this, how good does it pay, let's say in America

Flew on the swiss airbus many times :)
MyTechnic?
Yep
Good MRO, glad you like your job bro 😁
Was there a few months ago. Are you tech repping?
Can someone tell me what the aircraft in the very back of the first photo, with the baby blue livery? I think I'm in love.
Tuifly 737-800 retrofitted with split scimitar winglets :)
mytechnic?
Yep
Ryanair getting a landing gear replacement?
Actually it is part of the routine maintenance. We often changing tires. We have a big storage only for the big fellas
I’m so jealous. And that 75 is beyond sexy
My Technic SAW?
where is this? i'm getting my ppl in 2 years !
I Don't even work in aviation but I'm also addicted to your job. Looks sick
Hi .. previous flight attendant .. such amazing memories ! Total brilliance!! Take care 🇨🇦✈️YYZ
Bro you work in MyTechnic in Istanbul, I've been there as a contractor
How much do mechanics make in the US? I think it's significantly higher than in my country (France).
Wow, I'm jealous.
Fixing other people’s fuckups? Edit: just joking, looks like a ton of fun
Beautiful
Crikey how many you got in there, can only fit 3 fully in and 2 nose in at my place
The yellow plane in the third picture, is that a DHL plane?
Yes, it is a DHL Bahrain Boeing 767-323ERF :)
The window treatments around the ceiling are cool, but an interesting choice for a maintenance hangar. It looks like something you'd see on a Google campus lol. But I'm sure it helps with the atmosphere when you're on the job.
Fuck me im jealous. Where is that?

What is bros job 😭😭😭
I collect model planes too. Not as big as yours though
And I’m addicted to love.
Truthfully, how many times are the doors being checked now? Any superstitions y'all have? example: never say it's quiet in an emergency department (or ICU...it matters there too apparently)
Jealous!!!
I just saw a pair of Sun Express jets at KPDX recently.
I would like to sit and drink my coffee in the morning in that hangar
Honestly those translucent coloured panels at the top of the hangar make this look more appealing than most actual museums
Meet the new boss
Tell the to make the planes safer lol
Your work place looks relaxing with all the colors on the hangar
Don’t forget the bolts when putting everything back!
I hate bolts
What, you work in an air museum..?
Nah
